Synopsis:

In the future, the net is connected to everything - from streetlights to kitchens. Each new convenience brings an opportunity for people to manipulate it. To facilitate the use of the net and to protect people from its dangers, citizens buy or create "pets". These cyber-creations not only help to find data, but also, protect them from threats. Both series are about electronic toys that are used to play games and entertain others. Rockman.EXE is more a futuristic anime where computers run about 200x faster than personal computers today. Angelic Layer is about a game which uses holograms and using people's brainwaves to create entertainment for audiences.

Both series are about kids using electronic avatars to do the fighting for them. I won't say that Rockman EXE is as high profile as Angelic Layer, but its certainly a decent series.
MalteseFalcon

Rockman.EXE and Angelic Layer have many similarities. First and foremost is the element of using humanoid toys to battle opponents in an arena area. Beyond that, while Rockman.exe's battle characters are sentient and Angelic Layer's are just toy, there is also the emotional bond that the user forms with their battling character, and their desire to obtain their dreams. Both series have a similar feel, so if you enjoyed one, you might like the other.

Both of these shows feature children who rely upon their digital friends to save the world from danger. In Digimon, the children can actually run and play with their digimon, and in Rockman EXE, they can only talk to their net navis; however, the relationship between the kids and their digital friends is pretty similar. Friendship, awesome powers, and digital enemies- if you enjoy these elements, you should give these shows a chance. :)

Digimon Season 2: Digital Monsters

Digimon Season 2: Digital Monsters

Two years after the DigiDestined (Taichi and the gang) saved the Digital World from the Dark Masters, new evil arises from the Real World. It's up to a new set of DigiDestined : Daisuke, Iori and Miyako, and a few from the original eight DigiDestineds to settle this fight once and for all. New Digimon and New Digivolutions are on the way, but is the new evildoer this time? Might this person be a foe or an ally? More secrets continue to be revealed as the new DigiDestineds fight to save both the real and the digital worlds.

Both of these shows feature children who rely upon their digital friends to save the world from danger, while trying to deal with school as well. (Or at least, they're SUPPOSED to be attending school, but saving the world means you need to skip a lot of class.) The kids and their digital partners use teamwork and flashy attacks to save the day, and both shows are a lot of fun.

Medabots

Medabots

All young Ikki wants is to have his very own Medabot, but his parents insist that he purchase the machine with his own hard-earned money. After a fellow classmate is bullied at school, Ikki rushes to buy an inferior model of Medabot and places his medal inside of it. While his new companion - which he dubs Metabee - is functional, there's one important problem: Metabee has a serious attitude problem and refuses to acknowledge Ikki's commands. Together, Ikki and Metabee will duel opponents such as the Rubberobo gang and local bullies while they prepare for an upcoming Robattle Tournament - but their worst opponents are each other! OK, OK, I know what you're thinking. What do a post-apocalyptic show about wolves have in common with a futuristic show about computer programs? It's simple: the dynamic between Kiba and Tsume is the same as the one between Lan and Chaud. It's never clear which one of them is actually stronger, and the two of them push each other to achieve and grow more powerful.
