The stories and settings for Read or Die and Gokusen are very dissimilar. While this may seem to make the two a poor match for recommendation, what brings these two together is the nature of the main protagonist in each. Both are strong and gritty women possessed of great depths of compassion tempered with iron willpower. If you found yourself bobbing in your seat, or swinging your fists in the air to one, you will surely be trying to make paper slice through apples to the other.

Both ROD TV and Gunsmith Cats are kinda whimsical shows featuring a primarily female cast. These girls each kick butt in their own way and the action keeps you wanting to see more.

Both series have this sort of superpowerfeeling around it. Though Tenjou Tenge has less story and more ecchiness, where R.O.D. has more story and no ecchiness (though there is some minor nudity in R.O.D.). Another pooint in which those two series differ alot is the *way* people fight. It's more material in R.O.D., while Tenjou Tenge has more "flesh vs flesh". So where you'd ifnd guns in R.O.D., you'll find swords in Tenjou Tenge.

In both series, there's a lot of "learning how to work together", which is one of the main things I liked about both series. There's also cute girls galore in both series.
