Synopsis:

The planet Lar Metal exists in a state of near-perpetual winter, but every thousand years, it approaches Earth’s orbit and enjoys a fleeting spring. During this short time near Earth, a Millennia Queen is sent over, to rule over mankind in secrecy until her Lar Metalian successor arrives, one millennium later. This exchange has gone on smoothly since the beginning of time, but in the year 1999, the last year of Prometheum’s reign as Queen Millennia, something goes amiss. Lar Metal’s orbit has shifted, setting it on a collision course with Earth. As the distance between the two planets closes and natural disasters ravage Earth’s surface, is there any way for Prometheum to save the planet and people she loves?

Arcadia of My Youth

Arcadia of My Youth

Arcadia Of My Youth is a film featuring one of Leiji Matsumoto's creations, Captain Harlock. In this movie, aliens of the Illumidus Empire conquer Earth and enslave humanity. Captain Harlock returns home in his battle cruiser, and confronts a populace that blames him and warriors like him for not being there to protect the planet..... and Harlock goes about trying to lead a resistance, and adopts the fighting strategy of ancient marauders. The movie draws many parallels with Japan during WWII.

AirCommodore

Another movie in the Leijiverse.

Both are about the conflict between Earth and a race of aliens, are infatuated with WWII-era weaponry, and provide vague origin information/backstories for recurring characters like Captain Harlock and Emereldas (though it's important to remember that there's no universal continuity in the Leijiverse).
