Two deranged, creepy and bizarre titles that seem to be aimed at children due to the goofy and awkward animation, but are anything but! As they are from the same director it's no surprise - these are a perfect disturbing pair.
They have a lot going for each other: They both look like crap with the same crap animation style, sound like crap, have the most god-awful repeating music that can bleed one's ears and some of the most creepiest, psychopathic maniacs in characters ever spawned. EVER. And they have the same sociopathic, lunatic violence that a devil couldn't love. With a non-existent comedic factor.
If you even decide to watch either one, don't do it alone. Bring a friend to share the pain. Only then, can you even consider these a maybe.
Both of these drunkenly walk the line between surreal and outright insanity often crossing over into full on WTF territory. The animation looks awful, the characters are creepy, and the episodes are offputting.
So why am I recommending these shows? Grab a friend to watch this with and you will be endlessly entertained by each others reactions as you watch these short concentrated bursts of insanity.
Both series are chock full of violence, disturbing behaviour and characters generally acting in a very demented and sociopathic manner. They're done by the same director and feature the same sort of unhinged music and animation that just can't help you leaving wondering why someone would make a show like this.
Both shows are also more fun to read and write about than to watch, so be sure to watch either of them with other people (it's also nice to have a support group ready after you've finished watching).
Both are weird and creppy 3D anime fully made by the same director. Both are episodic and their protagonist acts in a very twisted manner. If you watched one and still feel like trying your sanity, you should watch the other one too.
Both of these series are from the same, deranged creator and share a similar sensibility. If you love the messed up antics of one of these series then you should totally check out the other.
This should be backwards. If you didn't like one, then I would recommend not to watch the other. Both are poor 3D made animations with poor sound and characters who'd do anything that your normal human logic wouldn't apply. While the setting of some episodes are more or less ok, their actions aren't in both Popee the Annoyer and Annoying Pets. But then again, these were probably made to drive the audience crazy or to punish children.
Both of these two anime not only share the same CGI styling, but also similar characters. Almost every episode of both devolve into random acts of violence that ends up maiming or seriously injuring one or more of the characters. Add to this that they all behave in odd or eccentric ways, and tend to come off as incredably creepy and/or scary. The sound effects in both are also the same, as is the types of color scheme.
If you've liked (or hated) one, then the other's right for you!
Cats can be very selfish and inconsiderate beings – Nyako and her little brother Nyatta are certainly no exception to the rule. They live their day to day lives with a total disregard for everything, including the lives of the people they interact with. These kittens can't even seem to perform the most mundane of tasks without some innocent bystander losing a limb, or having their guts splattered all over the room. When you throw their alcoholic father and over-bearing, abusive mother into the mix you have a concoction that will surely reach excessively morbid proportions.
I heard you like black comedy. Popee is all about black, horrid non-comedy with sadistic sociopaths running rampant while Nekojiru Gekijou is all about black comedy with sadistic mains. Only if you want more violence without the creepy clown.
Both anime have a lot of violence in it for comedy purpose. While Popee the Performer has a more or less random humor, Nekojiru Gekijou has a darker and more sadistic humor. If you liked one you should watch the other one too.
Cue the madness as you wonder how high were they when they made these.
I give you the fast answer, very.
Remember kids: It's fun until someone loses an eye, and then it's hilarious. Both of these anime use violence as a means of humor. Both also use rather bizarre storylines in each episode. I'm not saying the writers were on drugs, but.... So, if the wacky antics of one caught your interest, try the other.
If you haven't had enough with one of them, you should watch the other one because both are similar in a lot of aspects. Both of them are fully made in 3D, have demented characters, were made by the same director and they are episodic. Just don't forget to have some alcohol with you to make it more enjoyable.
Both are crap. Grade A violent crap. Popee the Performer has the benefit of being so crap it's decent if drunk enough or insane. Funny Pets 2 is just crap. They do have animation similiar to each other, sadistic and creepy nightmarish characters and ear-bleeding sound, all made by the same madman director. If you're insane enough to watch one, get some friends to help you watch the other.
Cat Soup is an extremely abstract, abnormal, and at times, disturbing adventure, from the director of Nadesico. This 30 minute OVA follows two kittens through what seems to be the underworld, as they search for one of their lost souls. Along the way, they encounter new (edible) friends, scary situations, and even the end of the world! Will these felines manage to return unscathed? Or more importantly, avoid becoming the main course for dinner? Confusion abounds in this quirky OVA.
Both are absolutely bonkers. While Cat Soup turns into an absolute acid trip and gets more crazy as it progresses, Popee the Performer starts with the messed-up and insanity trait and runs with it to the finish line. Both are violent, bloody at times and completely unalike in terms of plot, despite the main characters being sadists.
A man lounges on a hot, sunny beach, sunglasses reflecting a giant rabbit and a pink elephant gliding through the air. But after the arrival of many ships and a trip into the ocean, even stranger things begin to occur...
