Synopsis:

At Ina Middle School, the boys’ Ping Pong Club is seen as more of a joking matter than something worth the school's budget. It doesn't help that they are constantly being outdone by the girls' team and their fiery-tempered coach, as well the fact that most of the boys on the team care more about their ding dongs than their ping pongs! In a desperate attempt to motivate the team, the boys' coach introduces a hot-bodied female manager, who might just bring a sexual tension to the team that could work to their advantage. But can these hopeless boys improve their game enough to emerge victorious at the upcoming tournament and win the prize she's willing to give?

Colorful

Colorful
  • TV (16 eps x 7 min)
  • 1999

The everyday life of the average, everyday guy is filled with the hope of getting even just a glimpse of an attractive woman's delicates in any way possible, and in any location: on the subway, in the park, or even under a table. One particular guy, Steve, finds it to be an amazing hobby, and would stoop to new lows to further his collection of panty shots, which he has hung about his room in a most decorative fashion. Colorful is a spastic, strange and extremely high octane way to look at the world of the typical man.

Both Ping Pong Club and Colorful are fast and chaotic, and are filled with great and massively tasteless jokes.

Cromartie High School

Cromartie High School

At Cromartie High, it’s tough being a delinquent -- a fact that do-gooder Takashi Kamiyama intimately understands. When he’s not engaging in contests of strength and rival gang wars, Kamiyama can also be found submitting punny jokes and planning his own rise to fame within the delinquents’ ranks, and that’s just the beginning! With friends like robotic Mechazawa, a giant gorilla, a hairy man from the 80s named Freddie and a clan of delinquents with mohawks that flow in the wind, how can anyone not enjoy high school?

This is a very tongue in cheek recommendation, as Ping Pong Club will only really be appreciated by a small handful of viewers due to some of the very immature and low brow jokes.

That said, the high school setting and group of lovable delinquents are very similar. The jokes will have you rolling about with laughter, but don't expect too much from either, especially not the very dated looking animation.

Enemy's the Pirates, The

Enemy's the Pirates, The

The Division of Space Piracy is most commonly known for apprehending pirates, but also for having the priciest damage control bills thanks to the destructive efforts of Lateil and his feline sidekick Apulo. When a madman named Youmei wants to take over Mars using the CAT #86 machine (by turning everyone into cats, to boot!), who better to catch the target than the duo? Along with Lagendra, a Class-A AI driven spaceship with a superiority complex, and Marsha, the team's newest detective, Apulo and Lateil must foil Youmei's evil plan before they find themselves fired -- again!

Both Ping Pong Club and Enemy's the Pirates have the same kind of psychedelic jokes, and are fast and chaotic.

FLCL

FLCL

Naota Nanbada is a boring young boy who leads a boring life in a boring town. His older brother has left for America, and the closest he comes to any excitement is when his deadbeat dad has too much sake. But things change one day when a bizarre girl zooms up to him on a scooter and smacks him in the face with her guitar. What's more, once Naoto returns home he discovers that this strange woman has arrived ahead of him and moved in! Not only does she constantly engage in perverted activities with Naota's father and flirt with the young man himself, but she also claims to be an alien who is searching for the ‘Pirate King.' Now, Naota must learn to live with this new intruder, deal with an odd government agent who sports exceptionally large eyebrows and the mysterious Medical Mechanica, and come to terms with the fact that there are a variety of robots and weapons emerging out of his head - amongst other things. Perhaps boring wasn't so bad after all...

ITs all about the somewhat perverse humor... if you liked it in ping pong club, its even better in FLCL (and kicking stylish animation to boot!)

Thrawn

Both Ping Pong Club and Funny Pets make use of the so-bad-it's-bad trait. While the former has horrible, annoying characters, the latter not only equals it but features one of the biggest creeps ever spawned. Not even close to being eye-candy, they're as ugly as hell and sound bad subbed/dubbed/mute.

To add insult to crude ugly, the "jokes" they feature wear thin quickly, leaving a putrid, rotting carcass in the desert sun.
