Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex is a story of a boy and a girl. The girl, Koizumi Risa, is much taller than the average Japanese girl; and the boy, Atsushi Otani, is much shorter than the average Japanese boy. Due to their immense difference in size and constant bickering with each other, the duo is unwillingly the school’s comic relief. As Risa and Otani continue to provide endless laughter for the masses, their friendship develops; and with that, so does Risa’s feelings for Otani...

Both Ouran and Lovely Complex have a similar sort of off-the-wall humor and crazy characters. Both draw on their shojo roots yet go somehow beyond them.

Both anime manage to combine deep characterisation, will-they-won't-they romance, and up-beat comedy in a very similar approach. They never take themselves seriously e.g. the bishounen males are objects of derision in Ouran whilst Risa and Otani mock each other's height constantly in LoveCom. Both use bright hues, weird sketches and bizarre expressions to create a constant stream of feel-good laughs. Not to mention that they're equally good, so liking one means you're bound to like the other.

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club I recommend Lovely Complex. Why? You can say that the both series have man-women relations as a main story. Also you have tall-short (LC) or rich-poor (OHSHC) comic situations, but what I really think is common to both series is that when you start laughing you just can't stop, and when you stop, you realize that you have already forgotten what was the first thing that initially make you laugh.

Life doesn't always end up the way we thought it would. Whether it be paying off a debt as a cross dressing heart-throb, or falling for the most unlikely guy, fate has a way of finding everyone. Both Lovely Complex and Ouran follow a tale of accidental destiny and the love that can be found among friends.

Both Lovely Complex and Ouran made me laugh, and the characters brought a smile to my face. They are great to watch if you have had a bad/stressful day or even if you haven't.

Lovely Complex was a very heartwarming and funny anime, and is one of my personal favourites. Ouran High School Host Club also has those features! Tamaki can be hilarious and so can Haruhi's expression, and you will find many scenes and episodes where you will be touched. I think that a person who likes Lovely Complex will definitely love Ouran High School Host Club and vice versa.

Much like Ouran High School Host Club, Lovely Complex deals with romantic situations with a humorous comedic tone. If you liked how O.H.S.H.C kept drama to a bare minimum and kept the laughs at the utmost priority then you'll most certainly appreciate this series as well!

Full of funny moments, both Ouran and Lovely Complex are a great opportunity to have a good time. They also have nice love stories and an atmosphere of friendship and happiness. Risa and Haruhi aren't mere shoujo characters, sometimes they act very similar.

Lovely Complex has the same tone that Ouran High School Host Club has. Ouran was based around comedy and romance, which are both key to LoveCom.

Ouran High School Host Club and Lovely Complex are both comedic shoujo anime. While Ouran features a reverse harem, Lovely Complex is more of a traditional romantic comedy. Nonetheless, constant-- sometimes witty, sometimes... less-than witty--banter and humorous situations are pervasive-- and similar --in both.

Either show is a great choice for someone looking for a good, happy, hilarious, relaxed show. Just don't expect the biggest and best plots in the world.

Both of these animes are great to watch when your down in the dumps. They both have great music ost's, comedy, drama, and animation. Loved these series. They were fantastic.

Both shows are of the same genre, are based on comic book series and have very similar forms of comedy.  They also have fairly obvious couplings right from the start and both shows build on that in a subtle way.  The characters in both series also have really unique personalities.

Both anime are funny and the love interests keep us guessing about whether they will be a couple in the end. While Ouran High School is more comedy and Lovely Complex is more about romance if you love one you will love the other. In a wierd way i also learn alot from watching these two anime and i would recommend them to anyone who loves a good romance.

Love and comedy somehow find a delicious blend in both of these animes. I personally feel that while the audacious nature of these comedies can sometimes mislead you to think they are shallow, in reality they are far more complex than what one initially sees. If you want a true slice of life romatic comedy that has true depth I would recommend either Ouran High School Host Club or Lovely Complex.

Similar art styles and similar comedic-yet-romantic feel. Romance is more heavily focused on in Lovely Complex, but it's relationships in general that Ouran seems to focus on... the relationships between the host club members, their families, and their customers mainly. Both are set in schools, though Lovely Complex has a much more 'regular' setting and Ouran has more money-talk.

Both anime are lighthearted comedies with a compelling storyline that draw you into their addictive worlds and make you want to spend more time with these characters.  With Ouran, you get to meet Haruhi and the crazy hosts of the Host club and laugh at the crazy antics that ensue while Haruhi works her way through as a "host" in the all-male club.  With Love.Com, you will laugh at Riza's triumphs and failures while trying to examine herself and her feelings towards Otani.

Both girls work towards fitting into their ill-fitting new roles, and bring laughs and giggles (and sometimes even loud guffaws) as we watch them try to redefine their self-images and their place in their new world.

Lovely Complex is a tad more heavy on the romance but both series are all about comedy with some budding romance on the side. The characters play off each other quite nicely and the chemistry between the mains is second to none. There's plenty to like in the other if you've seen either one.

Both are very funny shows following funny highschool kids with romantic undertones.  There aren't too many similarities other than their similar senses of humor, but you'll ptobsbly likr onr if you like the other.

Both Ouran and Corda are reverse harem anime. Even if they have very different themes and stamina, if you like to watch girls and many charming guys to choose from, La Corda D'oro works great. It was based on a shoujo dating game, after all!

These anime could be part of a reverse harem comedic enterprise. Ouran Host Club is a lighter anime than La Corda and has a more comedy. Both series have a plethora of characters who express different opinions and views towards the heroine, making the resulting setting magnificent. La Corda takes on a more serious note due to the stress of having to learn how to play the violin.

Both Ouran and La Cordo revolve around a young girl who has a very carefree attitude at first, but then matures and sees the wonderful opportunities that have been presented to her by "bad luck." She is surrounded by beautiful guys who are admired; these guys eventually start to see the good sides of the girl and fall for her. She must decide who to choose, but who will it be? You'll have to watch to find out!

Both are outstanding shoujo reverse harem anime. Each show plays on Bishounen stereotypes but they do so in a way that is refreshing and enjoyable. While La Corda is more of a drama and Host Club is more of a comedy, both series effectively focus on character interactions and development rather than on plot.

Both series are pretty much about a girl who doesn't really fit in, but accidently join a school club where she makes a lot of new friends. It's really fun to watch the girls in these anime grow and mature with the help of their friends and families! And to play "Who Gets The Girl". ;D

At first, after watching Ouran, I looking for similar animes and stumbled onto La Corda 2/3 months later.

Even though the atomsphere and plot are very different, I feel like this was one of the most similar anime I found to Ouran. La Corda deals with different issues but there's also that element of reverse haerem.

The two girls (Haruhi and Kaho) are both passionate about what they do and you learn to empathize with them both. They both have guys that support them and in return, the male character develops due to the girls entering their life.

These animes are very similar. While OHSHC pokes fun at itself and its stereotypical characters, La Corda D'Oro does not, but those are really the only differences. Both feature a female character who changes the lives of the men around her by her own strong will and personality. Both also blossom with exciting romance possibilities.

Good looking guys, high class music player and a drop of comedy you will definatlly love this serie also. I definatlly reacommand La Corda D'Oro cuz it has a gentle atmosphere where you will discover great music, romance and comic situations.

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club, you'd also like La Corda D'Oro since it was a very inticing anime. It has a beautiful protagonist, five very, very gorgeous boys, and music. Though it didn't have laugh out loud moments, there was humor.

Both of the anime's art is fanominal. You don't get irked by overly huge boobs, fake personalities, and a stupid story line. Each character is special.

Both animes have protagonists with beautiful boys in love with her. It's very enjoyable to watch, just try for yourself.

Both are reverse harem and have excellent music. If you enjoy romantic comedy, this is a good choice.

Well, they're both reverse harem. And almost all characters are wealthy. But the their plot is different from each other. Anyhow, watching both series will definitely satisfy anime (and reverse harem) lovers out there!

In Ouran HighSchool Host Club we have Haruhi, an oblivious heroine that is suddenly forced to join the Host Club and becomes surrounded by gorgeous men that will give her a hard time. As it advances, it’s implied that more than one of the hosts starts to have feelings for Haruhi. It’s probably the best reverse harem out there.

In La Corda D’Oro we have Kohoko, a heroine forced to participate in the famous musical competition in her school, making her spend a lot of time with the other contestants that belong to the elite group of the school. It’s implied that more than one of the competitors develops feelings for her.

If you like one, then for sure you’ll like the other, even though Ouran is more of a comedy than La Corda D’Oro.

Both animes deal about a girl in the middle of a bunch of boys. They have a great deal of funny moments, although La Corda D'Oro tends to be more serious & dramatic. Both series have a wide range of characters and you'll sure find one you can fall in love with ;)

Azumanga Daioh

Azumanga Daioh

Ten-year-old genius Chiyo, animal-loving Sakaki, loudmouth Tomo, athletic Kagura, weight-conscious Yomi and dim-witted Osaka are six friends who share laughs, good times, and a high school homeroom. With scary (and sometimes perverted) teachers, school festivals, penguin suits and general hilarity abounding, you can be sure that there's never a dull day in the life of one of these students!

While Azumanga and Ouran definitely have varying types of humor (Azumanga is waaaay more spastic and random), I think if you liked one, you'd like the other. Call it a hunch if you will -- just try it out!

Ouran and Azumanga share the same quirky sense of humor and adorable qualities of its characters. Botha re very funny in a lax way and will entertain anyone in my honest opinion.

Both animes give you a slice of life from the view of high school students with comedy as a main factor in each show. If you enjoy one of them you will enjoy the other.

Both series revolve around a wacky bunch of high school sudents that may seem odd at first (well, maybe they are) but in the end, you'll love every single one of them. These series make excellent use of a cast of common anime stereotypes to create humorous situations, but in the end you'll learn that even these characters have depth.

Slice of life and random humor aplenty, both Ouran and Azumanga Daoi will keep you entertained to the end.

If your looking for a Comedy/Slice of Life anime that is full of a memorable cast and quirky characters your in the right place. These high school Comedy animes are both episodic, so picking up any episode with friends will be sure to bring out great fun.

Both share a slight randomness as well as humour evoked from stark contrasts in characters.  Azumanga Daioh is far more plotless, but both provide brilliant standalone episodes and timeless comedy.

While Azumanga is definitely the most random of the two, both shows have a wacky and random sense of humor. They are both about the life of a group of students and how they get into crazy situations, or turn completely normal ones into something bizarre. If you liked the one, you will surely like the other.

Both of these animes are extremely funny in a wacky sort of way. If you liked one, you're bound to like the other

They're both about interesting characters at a school environment, and they are both very random shows.

Looking for some hilarious high school antics? A rich kid with a giant dog? A stoic tall-person that loves cute things? A duo of pranksters? And the straight-man that doesn't quite fit into the quirky group? Look no further than these two animes!

Azumanga Daioh and Ouran High School Host Club are alot alike. Both Azumanga Daioh and Ouran High School Host Club share a plot in high school and revolve around high school students. Not only do they relate in that sense but they also relate in their humor and randomisity. Both animations take what seems to be every day events and twist them into comedic events. Azumanga Daioh and Ouran High School Host Club also both have good animation and good character development.

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club, you'd also like Hana Yori Dango, because they're both about a female character entering an elite private school that is full of rich kids. There are harems and reverse harems in both.

Similar to Ouran High School Host Club, Hana Yori Dango is about a girl who enters a school full of rich students in high social classes. The main character in both stories is surrounded by arrogant male figures. Both have romance, though one may be more subtle than the other. If you think Ouran High School Host Club has a moment of enjoyable intensity, you'll love Hana Yori Dango for it is full of it.

Both animes are based on reverse harems. Even more than that, each series is based on a teenage girl who is poor, yet somehow ends up attending a high school for the super rich and elite. As such, they both face a lot of obstacles, and their strong spirits and wills to continue ultimately lead to their success. Both series provides us with laughs and of course a little bit of romance. Hana Yori Dango has a little bit more romance, and at times can be sad, which is a little different from the always hilarious and comedic Ouran. I'd say that if you liked one, you'll the love the other as well! ^^

both series show us the difficult life of the rich people, and how their lifes affect their love lifes, not being able to decide by themselves. While Ouran is more funny and less dramatic than HYD they treat the same problems and have the same twists between the realationship of the main characters. They show greatly the differences between two different kind of lifes, the rich and the poor, differences like the food, the houses, marriages, etc. And all of this in a high school atmosphere. You'll surely like on if you liked the other.

Both heroines in each anime are very identifiable in their desire to lead a normal high school life. However, that wish is changed when they, unfortunately at first, encounter the schools groups of rich boys. Although their personalities and values are total opposites of eachother, the changes brought about through their interactions provide an interestingly comedic story. As romance develops as well, girls would find themselves desiring to be one of the brave heroines!

Both animes have the same type of main female character who has financial issues but for some reason or the other is in a school with very rich students. It's pretty much a reverse harem. Even though Hana Yori Dango is a much older anime they both have wholesome and heartfelt characters. Be prepared to have a marathon because once you start watching you can't stop xD

Welcome to the whealty school my dear countrypumpkin. Here you can see people who are coming from very very rich families and some of them don't like you because they know that you are from the poor family but what you care about the richeness: studying is the only thing which you know and maybe enjoying your highschooldays keeping low profile but be prepared....you maybe are strong-willed and handy in the tight situations but one thing there is which you cannot avoid: In this school theres group of the boys which steals every girls heart - maybe yours too or you them...

Both stories revolve around a female main character who finds herself surrounded by rich, mostly male, kids, plus a rather clueless, vain male main character.

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club you would like Hana Yori Dango because they both share the reverse harem private school setting with a poor, down-to-earth female protagonist. They are both very funny, though Hana Yori Dango is more dramatic and the character types are less exaggerated.

One line pitch for both?  Normal girl attends elevator school (up and including university) for the very rich, and gets involved with a group of privilged boys.  Romance is not very far away!

Hana Yori Dango is a classic Shoujo anime, and in fact could be called a trope codifier for the genre.  Ouran on the other hand takes a lot of these tropes and subverts them.  Both stories have heart though, and will reward viewers who love romantic comedy anime.

Tsukimi is an otaku and jellyfish enthusiast whose only means of coping with the world is to reject it: she and her friends live in a house they declare a man-free zone, generally avoid 'stylish people', and spend their days blissfully bonding over geeky rituals. As misfortune would have it, their convenient existence is about to be turned on its head by the arrival of Kuranosuke, a seemingly beautiful young woman who is actually a beautiful young man. While he may be strange even by their standards, Kuranosuke embodies everything Tsukimi secretly dreams of being - a princess as ethereal as a floating jellyfish - and promises the kind of mind-boggling adventures only possible when geek meets chic!

Both Kuragehime and Ouran High School Host Club are shojo comedies that revolve around a bookish, tomboy lead--along with some effeminate men.  Besides the glamorous makeovers (and cross-dressing) that inevitably ensue, both shows challenge gender roles, conformity, and societal beauty standards.

Although romantic relationships and love triangles are the focal point of any shojo anime, Kuragehime and Ourango beyond their genre's expectations and deliver a touching, heatfelt reminder that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Kuragehime is aimed at a slightly older audience, but both have oodles of appeal outside of their intended demographic.

They're basically the opposite of each other. In Ouran, a smart, plain-ish cross-dressing girl is surrounded by fabulous/extravagant guys, whereas in Kuragehime it's the fabulous guy that's surrounded by plain, nerdy women.

Both animes (Kuragehime and Ouran Highschool Host Club) are upbeat, hilarious and have a wide range of characters. Both also include cross dressing, akward situtaions and characters you fall in love with, so if you like either chances are you'll also like the other

Both Ouran and Kuragehime deliver cute romantic clashes between nerds and popular people all in pretty-as-pink animation. Moreover, both are able to overcome their weak formulaic plots by delivering vivacious and delightful characters. Gush at the bishies, giggle at their misadventures, and marvel at their convincing humanness.

While both of these series are inherently different, they share a lot of similarities, the main one being a flamboyant and wealthy male lead attempting to bring a quiet, plain and nerdy girl out of her shell. With both series sharing a similar style of comedy, if you enjoyed one, you'll certainly like the other.

These animes are very similar in humor and drama situations. Tsukimi is very similar to Haruhi (both having dreams instilled by their mother) and Kuranosuke is very similar to Tamaki. Wtih differences of wealth and stature making up much of the underlying theme of these animes, they have a very similar vibe.

The two animes are basically the opposite of each other, but both are HILARIOUS gender bender animes. In OHSHC, Haruhi dresses as a guy and in Kuragehime, Kuranosuke dresses as a girl. Haruhi is a poor girl who meets all sorts of rich people in her new school, while Kuranosuke guy in a super rich family who meets a group of otakus.

Ouran High School Host Club and Kuragehime have very similar, if not identical senses of humor. The pace is also alike, and seem to have similar charms.

With similar pacing and premises, Ouran and Kuragehime display a similar sense of humor around the idea of a clash between popular people and nerdy people. I think fans of one would like the other.
