Shakugan no Shana

Shakugan no Shana

Sakai Yuuji thought he was a normal high school student, until one fateful day when time stopped. Watching in horror, he witnesses a monster devouring the "frozen" people around him; but luckily for Yuuji, he is saved by a sword-wielding red-headed girl that calls herself a "Flame Haze". The girl informs him that he has been dead for some time now and that his current self is merely a replacement for the human that he used be while alive. He is, she says, merely a torch whose life will come to an end when the blue flame in his chest ceases to burn. After this rude awakening, Yuuji realizes that he is able to see the flames of life in other "torches"; and after discovering that a friend of his is also a torch -- and her life is burning out faster than his – he gains the courage to live out the rest of his life with meaning. Will Yuuji be able to find his place in the world before he ceases to exist?

Each of these series are school life romantic comedies following tsundere female leads. As each series progresses, there is a lot of growth in both leads, and each series balances both romance and comedy. These series each have a bit of action (more so Shana).

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

Both follow tsundere female leads and the males leads that like them.  Both sereis also has some action in each of them.  Granted Shakugan no Shana tends to be a lot have a lot more action than Ookami-san which does have some action but it tends to go more towards the comedy track but they both do it nicely.  Also each series has some rather nice character development.

Each of these series focus around a group of people in school, but not a regular school. While Railgun focuses around a comedy/action series in a town full of super powered children and Ookami focuses around a comedy (with just a bit of action) high school group doing things that aren't usually found in a normal high school. Ookami also has a bit of romance, which Railgun is mostly missing.

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun makes a cameo appearence in Ookami-san. Indication from the anime producers themselves. They are similar.

Sket Dance

Sket Dance

At the Kaimei Academy three classmates, “Bossun” Yusuke, “Onihime” Himeko and “Switch” Kazuyoshi have established their own club: the Academy Activity Support Club. Known as Sket-Dan for short, the trio accept any odd jobs that come their way in the name of maintaining a peaceful life for the students of the academy. Whether identifying a graffiti artist, fixing the school gym shed or helping a new student fend off his childhood bullies, no task is too big and no job too small for the Sket-Dan.

Krozam Krozam says...

Both SKET Dance and Ookami-san revolve around a school club dedicated to helping others upon request. The female leads are also quite similar.

Sasukefanx12 Sasukefanx12 says...

Both of these anime have the same basic premise: A school club dedicated to doing odd jobs for students. Both are episodic with some light comedy for the most part and the female leads are both pretty similar. Main difference is simply that Ookami-san is far better on all fronts, especially characters and basic plots. The only thing Sket Dance MIGHT do a little better is the comedy.

Hidan no Aria

Hidan no Aria

That is, until Kinji’s elite classmate Aria saves his life, inadvertently triggering his superhuman ability that flares when he’s sexually aroused! Though Kinji would rather slack off at school and be left alone, Aria is now determined to make the teenager her slave, fetching her food and partnering with her on missions - including one very important to the girl. And nothing will stand in her way... not even Kinji's possessive childhood friend!

Both anime have a Tsundere charcter that may develope feelings for the male charcter which has special abilities.

Doomoo Doomoo says...

They are both done by the same studio and share many interpersonal relationship traits. Hidan no Aria is more actiony and has a much stronger focus on both action and your typical Tsundere relationship while Ookami-san spends more time on animation and comedy. If you like one you will probably like the other. Both are great and I highly recommend them.

However I would like to mention that both leave a very open ending and have manga that are still behind the anime. So if there is a second season of either it is likely not going to be soon and the manga are not going to catch up for around another year for each.

Both series are about a male protagonist entering a club/group that help out other people/students; however, these series have different personalities. While Ookami-san has a more violent, comedic flavor with a side of polar opposites and action, while Yahari has a more calm, intellectual flavor with a side of loners and comedy.

samie samie says...

In both series, the club of focus helps out students who ask. However, Ookami-san is more exaggerated/ action oriented, while Yahari is more school life oriented.  Both are humorous.
