The magical My Melody used to live a normal life in Mari Land, picking flowers and baking cookies for her friends and family - that is, until Kuromi and Baku escaped from the royal castle and fled to the human world! They took with them two magical treasures - the melody bow and the melody key - which, when used for evil purposes, can grant the user the ultimate Dark Power. Now, My Melody must travel to the human world to put a stop to Kurumi's evil plans to turn one hundred human dreams into nightmares. By her side is Uta, a human girl who is in love with the violin genius Hiiragi - a talented boy who unfortunately has decided to assist Kuromi in her devious plans...
Hinamori Amu is a stylish punk rock girl who is liked and feared by her peers, but there's just one problem: she's actually a shy and quiet girl who can't seem to drop her self-fabricated facade! But when Amu finds three eggs in her bed, she had no idea her life would change forever. Out of the eggs pop Ran, Miki and Su, Amu's Guardian Charas; these being represent parts of Amu that she wishes she could be, even allowing Amu to transform into those parts at will! Now, with pressure from the other Guardians (including her crush, Hotori) to join their midst, dark sides of the psyche known as X Eggs to seal, and nefarious forces after a wish-granting egg known as the embryo, Amu's life has officially become more complicated!
Both series are about a realistic, young girl who has an adorable, unrealistic creature that makes magic happen. Their main opposition is an attractive older guy who is aided by adorably wicked counterparts.
I think both of these animes are similar because, there both are about peoples dreams that they want to fulfill. Also they both have little creatures that are around the main character, and they both have a male character that has blue hair and plays the violin.
Both animes have very cute characters, and simple plots with no bloodiness. Many of the characters have the same personalities.
One clear festive evening, Lucia, a mermaid princess, rescues a young boy from drowning. With him, she leaves the source of her beautiful singing voice: a pink pearl necklace. Several years later, Lucia has grown into a young woman, and embarks on a quest to the human world to reclaim her pearl and find her lost love.
Shoujo? Check! Excessive girlyness? Check! If you are looking for magical girl goodness aimed at the same age range and with an incredibly similar feel, look no further than Onegai no Melody and Mermaid Melody. Extremely similar in almost every way.
Both shows are super girly, have a musical theme to them and are very family friendly. You'd probably like one if you enjoyed the other.
When young Ami-chan and her family moved to a new home, she didn’t know what to expect, but not even in her wildest dreams could she have expected the bizarreness that awaits her. Moving her things into her new room, Ami discovers a pretty little doorway leading into the floor. Surprisingly, three creatures greatly resembling stuffed animals jumped out to greet her! Iyo the bunny, Kenta the bear and Issa the panda claim to be the Happy Aniyoko Trio, and say they live beyond the door in another dimension called Animal Yokocho. From that day forward, the three frequent Ami-chan’s bedroom, bringing with them their annoying antics, strange fun and games, and of course... trouble!
They're both childrens' cartoons about cute, silly, talking animals and the girls who play with them.
The legendary warrior, Cure Moonlight, was defeated and it's up to shy Tsubomi and fashion-obsessed Erika to step up and become the next Precure team. Together they must battle the Desert Messengers, an evil organization preying on the negative emotions blooming in people's hearts. They want to help their friends and the quickly-wilting Great Heart Tree by collecting Heart Seeds, but can they prevail given they are the weakest Precure in history?!
Both anime follow a similar formula where a random (usually) character is feeling down or has some problems and the antagonists show up and try to take advantage of that by transforming him/her into a monster or making his/her dream come true and it's up to the heroines and mascots to save him/her and turn things back to normal. However, in Onegai My Melody it's the mascot that takes cares of the problem using helper characters.
When Sasami was very young she promised her parents that she wouldn't use her magical powers - though as a young girl, she sometimes does an innocent deed regardless. Sasami always has a positive attitude and likes making new friends such as the timid Misao, and loves to cook. However, when the Cooking Club's leader - the new teacher Ms. Washu - seems insistent on making the girls prove their worth, they soon discover that the club is just a front for the Magical Girls Club! It seems that Ms. Washu is actually a witch, and she's here to make sure any magic-using girls use their powers responsibly. Along with Misao, Makoto, the rabbit-like Ryo-Ohki and other new friends, Sasami trains hard to be the best Magical Girl she can be!
Both are really terrible yet really cute mahou shoujo cartoons aimed at the prepubescent girl demographic with lots of shiny colors. If you can stomach one, you can stomach the other.
