Shirahama "weak legs" Kenichi is a typical high school student with typical problems: he's frequently bullied and tends to run away in the face of his enemies. Things change when Kenichi meets Furinji Miu, whose grandfather runs a dojo; and not knowing what he's getting himself into, he signs up to become a disciple. As Kenichi's life-threatening training continues and he becomes more and more powerful, he inadvertently becomes the target of the deadly gang called Ragnarok. With mental and physical challenges ahead, can Kenichi survive his encounters with Ragnarok, or will the masters of his dojo get to him first?
I think both anime are great and have important things that match: they both have a lot of action, both of the main characters have a dream, and the most important reason for me is that in both anime the comedy and action is divided in the same way. One thing that's different is the drawing style; if you've watched Kenichi first and then watch One Piece you may think One Piece is drawn a bit weird, but you'll probably get used to it really quick. This, of course, doesn't matter if you've watched One Piece first. Another difference is that in One Piece people have special (magic) powers and they don't have that in Kenichi. I think that if you liked Kenichi or One Piece, then you'll like the other one as well. I felt the same feelings with both anime.
The main characters of these shows have a lot in common. Both Luffy and Kenichi fight single-mindedly for their dreams and their nakama. Both are surrounded by a super-powerful, strange yet likeable team who help them get strong enough to beat each new challenge. Both have other interests (Luffy=eating: Kenichi=big boobs) which they're passionate about too ^-^Also, both shows feature some good fighting, solid plots, lots of suspense, and plenty of funny moments. They're both great, and if you enjoy one you'll definitely like the other!
Takamine Kiyomaro is a junior high school student who thinks he’s too smart for school, to the disappointment of his mother. On his 14th birthday a surprise literally crashes through Kiyomaro’s window, in the form of… a small naked child?! His name is Gash Bell and his goal is simple: be a mentor for Kiyomaro, at the request of Kiyomaro’s departed father. In return, Kiyomaro must help discover the secrets behind Gash Bell’s amnesia and his past, with only a red book as a clue. As if things weren’t crazy enough, Kiyomaro soon discovers that Gash Bell is a demon -- one of many on Earth -- who can be forced back to the demon world if its corresponding book is burned. Armed with the power of the red book, Kiyomaro must now help Gash Bell defend himself against other demons who want to vanquish him from the Earth, lest his newfound friend vanish forever!
Both series share the same sense of drama, comedy and character development. If One Piece had an effect on you Konjiki No Gash Bell will too!
Humor in both are very similar. I could be a really serious moment but it a split second you could start laughing at the random humor. They both have wacky characters, funny facial expressions with large mouths.
Dimwitted Azuma Kazuma is a young man with a dream -- to create a bread worthy of the name "Japan", made by the Japanese people, for the Japanese people! With hefty bread-making skills, hands that have an uncanny warmth to help dough ferment, and will power like no other, Kazuma must put his delicious creations to the test as he struggles to become employed at the prestigious Pantasia bakery, for fame and glory! Yeast, beware... Kazuma is in the kitchen!
Both Yakitate and One Piece have constant humor which is basically over the top and ridiculous, but very funny at the same time. Even though the stories, genres, and characters are completely different due to the comedy, you can enjoy both.
In both anime, there is a team fighting with all they have towards a life goal. A young, amazing guy that sticks them together. I has great team spirit, and in some point, there are a lot of resemblenses in it.
Also, both have the same hilarious comedy along with the nostalgic drama.
An akuma is a soul which has been brought back to life through sadness and despair with the powers of Millenium Earl. Their mission is to terrorize the earth and all who dwell within it. The Black Order is a group of Exorcists that have sworn to cleanse the souls of the akuma, and collect the substance known as "innocence". This powerful substance can be used as an anti-akuma weapon, and ultimately can help destroy the evil Millenium Earl. Allen Walker is a young Exorcist who has the ability to tell who is human and who is an akuma with the help of his cursed eye. Together with the Black Order, Allen must find all 109 pieces of innocence to protect the world and defeat Earl.
Both are about a guy who gains a mystic power, they team up with other with skills to help reach their goals. Both animes ar action packed with parts of comedy too.
Both anime have a balance of action and comedy. Luffy and Allen Walker are very similar in their philosophy on life. When either Luffy or Allen's friends are in danger, they will stop at nothing to protect them, despite the dangers that could befall them. Both work their hardest to become men they could be proud of, be that the Pirate King or a saviour of akuma souls.
Despite differences in art and story line, they both have the same 'feel.'
Simon lives a boring life in the underground village of Jeeha, where his main job day in and day out is to dig tunnels. His close friend Kamina, however, longs to bust out of their oppressive existence and reach the surface world where open skies and adventure await! One day, during his usual digs, Simon discovers a robot with a big face buried amongst the rocks. No sooner has he shown Kamina his mysterious find when two beings from the surface crash land into Jeeha Village - one is a gun-toting woman calling herself Yoko and the other is a terrifying mecha piloted by a Beastman! Seeing their chance to escape village drudgery, Kamina rallies Simon and Yoko to defeat the invader using their new robot, Lagann. However, upon breaking out onto the surface world, Simon, Kamina, and Yoko encounter enemies more powerful than they could have envisioned. Their fight for adventure just turned into a war for the survival of the human race - will their lust for freedom hold out against such terrible odds?
These series are about having fun and a few laughs. Don't let that decieve you though as they both can be very deep when neccesary. True the main characters are nothing alike:but If you enjoy One Piece, you'll get a kick outta Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann!
Both anime have non stop action and an amazing ray of characters that you are sure to love no matter how silly they are. There's plenty of meatbones to be nomnom'd because well they need to keep up their strength somehow to keep on fighting these epic battles. One Piece is more on the adventure side where TTGL is on the save our planet side. Try one if you liked the other.
