As the seasons pass, a lone stray cat reminisces of life with his master. He talks of the small passions of their time together, and how their shared affection gives them each a reason to be alive. Speaking both of love gained and love lost, he chronicles the eternal nature of their bond, as despite their own respective heartaches they still have each other. The two converse in a touching tale of the true strength of friendship in the face of hardship.

Both animes shows a superb story can be told in as little as 6 minutes. Though they're much differnt in graphics and story, they both share a strong emotional impact, that is uncommon in even average length animes.

Two charmingly short, silent (save for music) works from Studio Ghibli. Fans of the studio will likely enjoy both.

Musically, these titles are completely different; On Your Mark is J-rock, while the Portable Airport series is electronica. What they have in common is Ghibli's trademark charm, as Portable Airport and its sequels were made by a subsidiary. Fans will find the innocent characters and upbeat atmospheres familiar.

Many animated music videos seem like they were produced as a cheap alternative to filming a video.  Yet when a music video is done well with good accompanying music it can be a powerful five minute experience. These anime are excellent examples, combining stylistic animation, fast paced stories, and of course good music.
