Kogepan

Kogepan main image

Kogepan is a short series about being different. Kogepan was a piece of bean-filled bread so special that only thirty were baked per day, that is, until he fell in the oven and became burnt. He has to deal with his own lack of self worth as he spends his days living among the other bread. The simple animation style belies the important message this anime conveys.

Kogepan and Ocha-ken are extremely similar anime. If you are a fan of one, you will be delighted to watch the other. Besides the obvious point that both are series for young children, each series deals with some sort of philosophy or little life lesson in the space of just a few minutes, delivered simply with charming animation and encouraging narration.
Ran

Both Kogepan and Ocha-ken teach small life lessons through very short episodes, encouraging the viewers to be themselves and find their place in life. Both are made for small children and are cute.

Both of these series have a similar sort of 'cute factor'. If you liked the gentle nature of one, and found yourself smiling at it then you may well enjoy the other. Both have a reasonable dose of humour about them, and since both are quite short episode durations, it's easy to just watch one when you have a spare five minutes.

I really don't think there are many series as well suited for each other, as are Ocha-ken and Dogtato-kun. Both are filled with positive morals for the young ones, and will crack a smile on your face due to the strange animation and characters.

Ran

Ocha ken is a series made out of short episodes, the same way that each episode of Jagainu-kun is divided into small stories. Ocha ken concludes with a small moral of the story, whereas in Jagainu-kun, the viewer has to figure it out for himself.

Both Jagainu-kun and Ocha ken are cute and suitable for younger children. If you liked one of them, you will surely like the other one too.

cassiesheepgirl

If you liked the short and episodic styles and the canine protagonists with a twist of one of these series then it is worth taking a look at the other one. Both are very easy watching and light-hearted so if you liked the gentle humour of one then you are likely to enjoy the other.

Ocha-ken might be aimed at younger children, but both it and Churashka are tales of cute creatures and their adventures.

Ocha-ken and Cheburashka Arere? are both short anime aimed at children. If you fancy something cute, and innocent with animal protagonists then you may well enjoy both of these.

Both Totoro and Ocha-ken are designed to be watched by children, but can also appeal to adults and older kids. Though Totoro draws in an older audience through its mature storytelling and Ocha-ken uses adorable mini stories and a simple art style, both are children's animes that adults wouldn't mind watching along with the kids.

Afro-ken

Afro-ken main image

Watch Afro-ken as he skips through the streets of Japan, bounds through fields of cotton candy, and fends off caveman attackers in ancient times; all without breaking a sweat! Ocha-ken and Afro-ken are both fairly pointless but cute shorts about a Japanese merchandise character. Personally, I think Afro-ken is a lot more strange and hilarious than the much more tame and timid Ocha-ken, but regardless, if you liked one you'd probably like the other.
