Amidst a beautiful sunset, Shu is violently whisked away to a grim future devoid of water, and empty of hope; a place where children are forced to become soldiers, and kill countless others in the name of King Hamdo. Shu's companion is a mysterious girl named La La Ru, who may hold the key to survival. Now, he must concentrate on the only things that matter: escaping Hellywood, and finding a way home.

Like most boys his age, the young Renton thinks of nothing but reffing – riding trapar waves on a board – and idolizes Holland, the leader of the renegade group of reffers named Gekko State. As an orphan of a famous hero, he lives a boring life with his grandfather until the beautiful Eureka crashes, literally, into his life. Now, with the help of his newfound friend and crush, Renton finds himself living amongst the crew of Gekko State. The errands are hard and the bullying is fierce, but with Eureka by his side, Renton just might find the courage to tough it out and even save the world!
Though quite different overall, Eureka Seven and Now and Then, Here and There are surprisingly similar. The two main characters are very similar in both masterpieces; a happy energetic boy and a silent, stoic girl. Also, both works revolve heavily around the girl who is not quite normal and has inhuman powers. The anime are both set in a fantasy world stained with violence that seems to see no end.
Once upon a time, two brothers passed the happy days of their childhood by studying alchemy, which is governed by the equal transfer principle: an eye for an eye -- you can't get more than you give. But these brothers tried to defy that law, and a horrific accident resulted. Now, the older brother, Edward, is called the Full Metal Alchemist because of his metal limbs, and the younger, Alphonse, is a soul without a body, trapped within the confines of an automaton. Together they search for the power to restore themselves, to find the lives they lost so long ago...
Don't be deceived by the somewhat lackluster animation style of NaTHaT, it really is a great show. Both NaThaT and FMA deal with human relationships and the disastrous effects of war. The government is corrupt in both of these series, and they both show soldiers that have to struggle between duty and morarilty. Both shows explore complex human emotions, and have deep, 3D characters. Both will make you laugh and cry and are intended towards more mature audiences. If you liked either of these shows, you are sure to like the other.
A young woman quietly falls to the earth, escorted by a solitary crow. This sort of dream, as many other before have dreamed, comes just before being reborn as a Haibane, a charcoal-winged angel. On the outskirts of the walled-in city lies Old Home, a haven for Haibane to study, live, and learn, while waiting for their chance to ascend to the heavens and escape the confines of their new world. Rakka is the newest inhabitant of Old Home who wants nothing more than to remember her past and discover the secrets of her kind. Together with Reki, Kuu and plenty of other new friends, Rakka will laugh, explore, and search for the meaning of their existence in the process.
What happens when authority and consequence are removed? When the inmates truly run the asylum. On the spaceship Ryvius there are those who would fight for order, and many more who would fight to destroy it. Love, hate, anger, greed, avarice, and perhaps hope are the fuel for the Ryvius, and only one can save those who call it home...
Both series deal with the idea of how power and control affect a group (adolecents) and what people will do in the bleakest siturations.

For though your appetite for revenge will be satisfied, your soul will also be condemned to hell after you die. But who is the Hell Girl, and does she care whether your revenge is justified? Apparently not, as long as she gets more souls…
Both Hell Girl and Now and Then, Here and There provide a rather heavy story that portrays several bad traits about this world and those living in it - be it greed or obsession with power, these things cannot remain unforgiven.
