The darker feel of the first Rurouni Kenshin OVA puts me in mind of the them of Noir. Basically, you have young people trained as assassins with no knowledge of what it's like to be a normal kid. Both of these anime series number among my list of favorites, and if you enjoy dark anime about revenge and retribution, than these are right up your alley.

Sisters of Wellber

Sisters of Wellber

Thief Tina Lota came to steal a golden statue, but what she got instead was a princess. Royal Rita was arranged to be married to the prince of a rival kingdom in order to avert a war that would crush the country of Wellber, but after being forced at knifepoint to perform unsavory acts, Rita stabbed her husband-to-be and fled with her newfound-ally Tina. The king of the rival kingdom demanded a public execution of Rita within a time limit or face their cannons of war; so the duo, along with the AI tank Count Girano do Voljurac, now set forth to the neutral country of Greedom with a petition that may stop the war. Tina is acting as Rita's bodyguard and has reasons of her own for traveling to Greedom: the man who murdered her parents has been spotted along the way. With a bounty on Rita's head and danger at every turn, the pair must do everything in their power to reach Greedom alive.

Both series are about certain women who have dangerous day jobs which involve escaping with their lives and toting big guns. No matter what the job these women complete it. If you liked one then you will surely like the other.

Although The Third is futuristic and makes shameless use of mech and over the top weaponry, the ambling pacing and hidden past of the main female protagonist is very reminiscent of Noir. With enough gun and fighting action to keep even the most restless fans happy, I think these shows will definitely appeal to the same audiences.

Weiss Kreuz

Weiss Kreuz

Aya, Omi, Ken and Yoji are four seemingly normal high school boys, who make up an elite assassin group known only as Weiss. The hits involve taking out corporate businessmen and corrupt politicians; however, trouble arises during a routine job, when Weiss clashes with a rival gang of assassins, Schwarz. With Schwarz in the way, they will reach the limits of their elite skills while trying to defeat their ultimate target: the Takatori family...

Assassin animes. If it isn't a genre, if that isn't a genre, it should be. The mysterious animes - Noir and Weiss - both draw you in with secrets, good music and intense scenes. While Noir tends to stick to present style themes, while Weiss dabbles a bit with futuristic ideas, if you've watched one you'll like the other.

X TV

X TV

Kamui has returned to Tokyo with a traumatizing past, but he is not the only one. Many people are returning to Tokyo for the same reason: they play a part in the End of the World. The Dragons of Earth and the Dragons of Heaven now must fight for the destruction or safety of the world. But is this troubled Kamui really the key to saving the world?

Both Noir and X TV are stories about an old legend that is slowly uncovered as a mysterious and compelling story. The main characters must find out what their destiny is and set out into a story that is filled with emotions like sadness, betrayal and hope. Needless to say that the atmosphere in both is very alike!
