Synopsis:

The studious and uptight Chiaki is well-known as the top pianist of his school, and dreams of becoming a world-class conductor like his idol, Viera; but his fear of flying (which makes studying abroad impossible) combined with a recent break-up and dismissal from his piano instructor causes that future to seem both bleak and unlikely. After collapsing outside of his apartment, drunk, Chiaki inadvertently meets a young woman named Nodame who, while quite talented at the piano, is unclean, clumsy, and haphazard. Despite being almost polar opposites, the two begin to grow closer and work, together, to overcome the obstacles in their careers.

Full Metal Panic!

Full Metal Panic!

Gonzo does it again with this action-packed mecha comedy. She's an ordinary high school girl. He's a counterterror agent assigned to protect her from those who would steal the information locked in her mind. OK, so she's not so normal after all. Armored Slave battles and lovers' spats abound as Sousuke and his comrades try to track down the mysterious Gauln before it's too late.

If you like seeing Chiaki lovingly abusing Nodame, you'll like seeing Chidory lovingly abusing Sosuke. Although one could argue that Sosuke deserves it where as poor Nodame just needs some encouragement.

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Sousuke Sagara is far from the average high school student - not only is he highly trained in military tactics, he puts his knowledge to use in every single applicable situation (and even those nonapplicable ones.) So, when confronted with high school, he tends to turn average high school experiences into off-the-wall adventures. Love letters become terrorist threats and field trips become commando operations; his survival depends on the watchful eye of his best friend and classmate, Kaname. Together, they may just make it out of high school alive...

In both animes, it is very entertaining watching the characters interact. The characters are very unique from other animes as well, and those looking for a change will defintely enjoy these two.

The only obvious similarity between Gauche the Cellist and Nodame is that they both involve western classical music with some adequately accurate animation when it comes to the "instrumentation", if you will.

Genshiken

Genshiken

Ever wanted to join an anime club but felt its geekiness would hurt your reputation? Sasahara feels your pain. Genshiken, the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture, is an organization of college otaku obsessed with anime, manga and video games. Their daily activities include holding impromptu cosplay photo shoots, braving the crowds and avoiding injury at doujinshi conventions, and tolerating harassment by Saki, a girl irked by her boyfriend's otaku-ness! It's a perfect match for Sasahara's interests, so why is it so difficult for him to join?

Both series is about young adults and their passing from the school life to adult life. Dealing with firends, romance and those unbelivable day to day events that make you laugh.

Gravitation

Gravitation

As a member of a musical duo on the verge of making it into show business, Shindou Shuichi has a lot on his mind -- especially since he writes the songs for his Bad Luck band. His life gets no less hectic when he bumps into Yuki Eiri, a successful yet cynical author extraordinaire, who immediately insults Shuichi’s lyrics upon reading them. Seeking him out to demand an apology, Shuichi nevertheless sees other facets of Eiri’s personality. Can he accept the fact that he might be developing feelings for the novelist who discredited his work on their first meeting?

The personality of the main characters and the plot is similar. Shuichi is kind of stupid, gets excited over nothing and losts enthusiasm when his lover doesn't seems to return his feelings, but his love is true and persistent. Nodame is the same. Both of them love a man who is extremely popular, good looking and cold, and people don't get what they are doing together. And of course they want to be successful musicians.
