In Gunslinger Girl and Neon Genesis Evangelion the main characters are adolescent children fighting for some shady semi-government organizations. In both series it leads to all kind of mental problems and weird relationships. Also some plot elements and themes appear in both series. If you liked this title you most probably like the other.

P.S. In both series the organizations are very twisted and do almost anything to achieve their goal. In my opinion the gals from Gunslinger Girl, for some reason, seem like a combination of the Eva pilots and Eva Units.

Though at first these two anime might seem dissimilar, they share something together; both focus on the psychological ramifications of have young children in roles where they can't act like children. In Evangelion, 14-year-olds pilot biological mecha; while in Gunslinger Girl, there are female assassins. The reactions of the children can be heartwarming or tragic. Each series explores not just the action element of the story; instead, they center on the characters.

Heroic Age

Heroic Age

Far, far away in a distant time, there is a tribe of people called the Golden Tribe who have the ability to create stars and foretell the future. They gave out a warning to those who have yet to mature: 'Move.'. Three tribes answered their call: the Silver Tribe, the Bronze Tribe, and the Heroic Tribe. Soon after, the Golden Tribe encountered a crashed ship in which only a baby human known as Age survived; they named the child's race the Iron Tribe and assigned one of the few living members of the Heroic Tribe to protect him and his race. Now, in a distant part of the galaxy, humanity is threatened with extinction at the hands of the other tribes. With only a prophecy to go on, they set out to the deepest depths of space to find their savior named Age -- humanity's last hope.

Neon Genesis Evangelion and Heroic age are examples of the mecha genre. The primary mecha in each are biological entities of massive power that are controlled in a degree by a young boy. Both the design and the disposition of Bellcross and EVA Unit 01 seem similar. Add to that the philisophical undertones of what it means to be human, and you have a number of similarities.

Evangelion is for those who are more interested in heavy philisophical discussion, while Heroic Age is for those looking for a more casual action series. If you enjoyed the action and philosophy of one, you should try out the others take on it.

Well, in both series the mecha part was made quite originally. They aren't just pieces of metal but living beings. Thinking and deciding by themselves, although in most of the series they are rather obedient to their masters/owners. Both series are fun to watch some even say that NGE is epic series (well, maybe for someone but I would argue).

Kare Kano

Kare Kano

Yukino had it all. Brilliant, athletic, popular and pretty, she was the perfect school girl with many friends and admirers. But then one fateful day she met her match: a handsome young man named Arima. Now, not only is he beating her at her own game, she's becoming more and more dismayed to learn that she's developing her first real feelings of romance. Can Yukino maintain her model student appearance, or will love ruin all her plans?

On the surface, these two series appear to have nothing to do with each other apart from being from the same studio, Gainax. NGE is about giant robot combat and KareKano is about high school life. However, after watching both series, it becomes evident that they are both about human relationships and individuals dealing with their own psychological problems. They are both also a little disturbing, but should appeal to the same group of people who enjoyed the psychological and coming-of-age elements in both shows.

Evangelion and Kare Kano don't really resemble each other, but if you enjoyed the psychoanalysis aspect of Evangelion, chances are you'll enjoy Kare Kano too.

Evangelion and MKR OVA feature rather unconventional mecha as young men and women work and fight to defend what they believe in. The stories are gripping and the character designs are really well done.
lantis
Well, they are two series with world ending giant robot battles. The comparison draws itself.

The Main Characters in both series are exactly the same. The Only Difference is that in Mirai Nikki TV the Main Character is stuck in a Battle royal with psychologically insane people and in Neon Genesis Evangelion the Main Character is Forced to fight Beings of Immense Power surrounded by Psychologically insane people. Both are the same except for the setting.
