Simon lives a boring life in the underground village of Jeeha, where his main job day in and day out is to dig tunnels. His close friend Kamina, however, longs to bust out of their oppressive existence and reach the surface world where open skies and adventure await! One day, during his usual digs, Simon discovers a robot with a big face buried amongst the rocks. No sooner has he shown Kamina his mysterious find when two beings from the surface crash land into Jeeha Village - one is a gun-toting woman calling herself Yoko and the other is a terrifying mecha piloted by a Beastman! Seeing their chance to escape village drudgery, Kamina rallies Simon and Yoko to defeat the invader using their new robot, Lagann. However, upon breaking out onto the surface world, Simon, Kamina, and Yoko encounter enemies more powerful than they could have envisioned. Their fight for adventure just turned into a war for the survival of the human race - will their lust for freedom hold out against such terrible odds?
The style of both of these series seem very similair. Plus, the priest and Kamina are amazing.
If you like the over-the-top-action parody that you find in Needless, you will like TTGL even more. Both are a parodies of "Shounen battle" genre, and that's why both use similar tricks ( acting cool, shouting attack names, saying some nonsense that is pointless but sounds cool).
Also in terms of characters Needless is very simlar TTGL. Both shows start with main trio :
- Powerful and tough "cool guy" - Kamina in TTGL, Adam in Needless.
- sexy and scary "strong woman" - Yoko in TTGL, and Eve in Needless
- whiny and lacking self confidence "weak kid" - Simon in TTGL, and Cruz in Needless.
The drawing style also is similar in those shows. The only real difference is that TTGL is quite awesome, and Needless doesn't go beyond "average".
Both anime are ridiculously over-the-top in terms of some of the fight scenes that are in them, with stupidly large moves. The animation style is also very similar in some of the episodes. So if you like stupid way over-the-top fights and comedy, then either show is perfect for you.
If you enjoyed Needless, you will definitely enjoy Gurren Lagann. Needless' plot closely follows a large part of Gurren Lagann's, the main characters are similar, and their settings are post apocalyptic.
If you're looking for over the top ecchi, action and GAR, look no further than these two titles.
To be honest, the action scenes in both series is so GAR to the extreme, you WILL like one if you the other.
Action, GAR, and unique characters! Throw in some boobs and you have both of these titles. Check one out if you liked the other.
With similar artstyle and humor, you'll find TTGL and Needless to be mind coliding. Having massive battles that tip the scale of the word massive, along with some fun ecchi scenes, look no further, for TTGL and Needless already exist.
Both have epic battle with awesome special effects. Also both series are post apocalyptic: - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: After a massacre, the humans take shelter underground - Needless: The needless appear due to the 3º World War
Very similar art, characters and parody elements, how ever it has to be said that while Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is EPIC, Needless is average at best.
When I first watched Gurren Lagann, I was instantly reminded of the epic coreography and over-the-top charisma of the charactarters which made me love Needless. So I would definetely reccomend both for their similar high-octance style.
Well basically Kamina and Adam are the same badass type character. Even though the are different genres both shows have the same over the top action.
Both Needless and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann have over the top action and are completely chaotic at times. They start with a similar trio of characters (i suspect Adam Blade to be the actor who plays Kamina ;) ) who make more friends and build up their forces while they go along to save the world.
Blade is almost as manly as Kamina,
Art is very similar and ridiculous,
They will stay in your memoey,
but TTGL is epic story with comedy, fighting and drama, while Needless is epic fighting, comedy with pantyshots.
Ryuuko Matoi is a fiery, feisty girl on a vengeful mission: she’ll find her father’s murderer at all costs, with only a giant red scissor blade as a clue to the villain’s whereabouts. Using the item as a weapon, she fights her way into the terrifying Honnouji Academy to track down a lead, unaware that the institute is brutally governed by a student council that’s anything but ordinary. Wielding special “Goku uniforms”, the group, led by president Satsuki, uses superpowers to keep the student body in check - but things are about to change now that Ryuuko’s in town!
Both are over the top shounen that don't take themselves seriously and are filled with flashy action and hilarious (albeit lowbrow) comedy.
Action, comedy, and more action. If you've ever had a "hell yeah! :D" moment watching shounen you'll find something to love in both of these.
Like anime with heavy ecchi and even heavier action? then you might want to check out both of these shows. They're both action comedies that can get quite perverted with their comedy. Fanservice, comedy, action these anime are always moving along with a fast pace. Both anime involve melee fighting with superpowered characters. Both anime are completely over the top making them a thrill ride to experience. Try one if you liked the other.
High-action, silly and over-the-top fights with a dose of ecchi to boot? Needless and Kill la Kill definitely fit well together. Kill la Kill is the more visually insane of the two, though.
Pumped up fast paced action your thing? Then both Needless and Kill la Kill are good choices. They both have highly energetic and explosive action scenes and just the right dose of ecchi to create an adrenaline filled show.
If you like one I'm sure you'll like the other
Both Needless and Kill la Kill are full of energy, over the top action, comedy and neither takes itself seriously. They both have the high paced switching from an action filled story to hyperactive comedy that make me watch entire episodes with a grin on my face.
Action, nudity, schoolgirls, badass character, big swords and Rule of Cool are core of series.
None of them serious, but are very enjoyable.
Some years into the future, a strange, unexplainable natural disaster has broken off a piece of the Japanese mainland. Known as the Lost Ground, it is now inhabited by people with Alters -- machine-like extensions of their own will. In order to keep the peace on the Lost Ground, the HOLY organization uses its own Alter capabilists to police the region. In the midst of the chaos is a young man named Kazuma, whose life will soon change forever as he discovers his hidden abilities, and how to wield them.
If you liked Needless, check out what it's a carbon copy of. Scryed has almost the same plot but with way less unfunny comedy, better characters, better fights and overall is just flat out better. Once you watch it you'll see how much of a clone Needless is.
Needless is like an ecchi version of s-CRY-ed. So If you liked anything about needless but wanted a little more everything wise minus the ecchi check out s-CRY-ed as it is a way better anime.
Let's face facts . . . there's not much difference between alter users and needless or between Simeon and Holy or between the Black Spot and the Lost Ground
The time is centuries ago, during the Sengoku period; the place is feudal Japan. Political ambitions and bloodshed run rampant as rival warlords battle it out in an attempt to rule the nation. Some seek to spread their noble ideals, some seek to protect justice and yet others seek destruction. Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimumra and a variety of other warriors will fight it out time and time again; their actions helping to ultimately decide the fight of Japan.
While one is futuristic and the other is historical, both are parodies of classical over the top action shows. I say parody, but they simply take the classical shounen battle show, and make it even more absurd, to a point where it can't be called serious story anymore. Both are pretty average shows, but may bring you some eye-candy enjoyment, and a couple of good laughs.
Both anime are overflowing with GARness of main protagonists. They both revolve around exaggerated fighting, where in Needless supernatural abilities are involved and in Sengoku Basara amazing weaponary is used. Furthermore, they both are extremely funny and share some parody of shounen series. But be warned! If you're looking for SERIOUS fights and general atmosphere, you'll be disappointed.
Each of these series focus around groups fighting all out against an "ultimate evil." Ridiculous attacks, powers and goals seem to bring these series close to one another.
Imagine a world devastated by nuclear war, where the strong oppress the weak and strength is the one thing that will ensure survival. A world where even close friends can betray you for power, a lesson that Ken, the Fist of The North Star, learns when he is nearly killed by his closest friend and left for dead. He's not an easy man to get rid of, and he returns - very angry.
Well, they're both about an apocolypse. although one is more serious then the other, i reccomend none the less...
Similar Post Apocalyptic themes while Needless is less serious they still have a central theme of fighting in common. If thats why you like them then you'll want to check out the other.
