If you liked the Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san anime, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
While visiting his hometown, junior high school student Michishio Nagasumi's life was changed forever when he nearly drowned. Though he was saved by a mermaid named San, there’s a catch -- her family is part of a merfolk mafia, and they abide by a strict rule: If a mermaid is discovered by a man, either he or the mermaid must die. That is, unless the man marries into the family! Faced with such a decision, Nagasumi can only oblige their customs and become a "happy" newlywed. Now, with a new school year around the corner, Nagasumi must find a way to deal with his new bride, keep her true nature a secret, and most importantly, escape inevitable death at the hands of San's over-protective father’s gang!
Both are comedy shows with a massive mermaid-cast centered around a young boy. While "Seto no Hanayome" has a high school setting, this one mainly stays on a fishing pier and has no romance component. But both main characters share the same fate ultimately, having their quiet lives turned into shambles by their new crazy companions of the sea.
Both are about a boy and his adventures with some troublesome mermaids. Lots of laughs are to be had with these watery adventure so check them out.
Mermaids, mermaids everywhere! Both are over the top comedies about some normal guy surrounded by crazy fishpeople (and other kind of fantastic critters), with a good dose of nonsense, slapstick humour and meta-jokes thrown in there for good measure. SnH has some more romance and is much more of a parody, but all in all both both rely on absurdities and exaggerated characters to entertain their crowd. Just don't try to make sense out of them, and enjoy the sea water.
well they are both funny and are just hilarious and other than that i can think of is that they both are well yeah funny
One day, without warning, a huge hole appeared in the world and demons emerged, ready for battle. Assuming that the demon king sealed by a hero 1,000 years ago must have escaped, the king of the land set forth a decree: the hero’s descendents must defeat evil once more! For Alba, one such would-be hero, this journey will be anything but ordinary given his growing collection of bizarre and wacky companions. Alongside young demon Ruki, age-inappropriate Ruldolf, tentacle-fighter witch Zwei and a host of others, Alba will get arrested, play dodgeball, travel across the land, and least importantly, learn the truth about the hole in the world!
Both animes have the persistent random humor factor, muromi is a little carefree with less of an underlying story but in my opinion has more hillarious moments. Senyu does have a light underlying story and does more satire on the whole final fantasy-esque genre, while muromi pokes fun at everything in anime as a whole.
Both of these shows are a mix of comedy and fantasy and have below average episode lengths. The quick humor is similar for both shows; if you thought one show was funny I think you'd like the other as well.
At the core, these two series are exactly the same: a comedy about a normal boy who suddenly has his life changed after meeting an extremely hyperactive non-human girl and her group of friends. Muromi stars a lot of mythological creature and Nyarlko has aliens and beings from Lovecraft lore, all cracking a continuous stream of fourth-wall breaking jokes for your amusement... and the poor guy confusion.
I'm pretty sure these shows are great for anyone who needs a good laugh, so give them a try.
Incensed at the damage done to the sea and its wildlife at the the hands of humanity, Squid Girl rises from the depths of the ocean to enslave humanity! Her mission proves more difficult than it first seems, however, when she gets dragooned into working at the Aizawa beach restaurant. Will the easily distracted, blissfully ignorant, and slightly thick Ika-Musume convert her managers' humble house into her base? Will she use the power of her mighty tentacles to bring all of humanity to heel? Or will she at least learn how to properly wait tables?
Both anime utilize fast paced, somewhat family friendly humor. And both anime are about sea creatures. Muromi-San a little bit faster paced than Squid Girl (due to a shorter run time) and the humor is a bit more off beat. But each have their moments of absolute ridiculous hilarity.
