Years ago, Tokine was injured protecting Yoshimori, and now he is determined to become strong enough to keep her from being hurt again. They are both similiar in many ways, having characters similiar to each other in Nabari's case yoite and Gen
Both Gen and Yoite have been mentally abused and end up having a rough childhood,
this causes them to become very estrangled teenagers and both end up having extremely low self esteem.
The main characters also both have a power in them that is unique to them and is very powerful.
Yoite and Gen: they both end up finding something that they were truly looking for
Brandon Heat and Harry MacDowel were best friends who lived by the law of the street, until one day they picked a fight with the wrong people and their life of freedom was suddenly taken away. With no one to turn to and nowhere to run, the choice to join Millenion, the city's most powerful syndicate, seemed like an offer they couldn't refuse. Now, amidst heartache, tragedy, and utmost betrayal, Brandon must take up the gun and help Harry climb the ranks of Millenion to succeed, in order to protect the people he loves, even if it means killing countless others in the process.
If the deep friendship Miharu forms with you-know-who (don't want to spoil) warms your heart, you may want to check out Gungrave, an anime driven by the character development of friends Brandon and Harry. The other similarities are very thin: yes, both have action, and yes, both are about some sort of underworld - one shinobi, and one mafia. But the piece that made me want to recommend Gungrave was just the friendship.
Different characters, very different stories, even different target demographics, but a similar heartwarming connection. If character development and interaction makes an anime good for you, then I simply must recommend Gungrave (though be warned that Gungrave is TV-MA, compared to Nabari no Ou's TV-14).

Okay, so this may not seem like the most obvious of recs - at least at first. There's no way Nabari no Ou would indulge in the cliched swimsuit and school festival episodes (yawn), and then there's the fact that there are no ninjas in Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. They're both involving the 'present day' and there's the school aspect tying the action down, but the main reason for the rec is... both end up being ALL ABOUT THE FEELS.If you're looking for a snot-fest that presses similar buttons, you can't go wrong here.
