Howl's Moving Castle is also directed by Hayao Miyazaki so it has the same animation style and the same sense of magic and wonder and the same whimsical imagination.

Both of these are very popular Ghibli films, but they also follow a young female protagonist. In both stories it is enjoyable to watch a young female lead have to go beyond what would be expected of a girl her age. Both of these movies delve into some magic. The non human creatures are also very loveable in both.

Both Totoro and Junkers Come Here are filled with warmth. They can represent what you call "childhood": magic things, animals talking, and familly problems which are solved at the end. All of it can be seen through the magical eyes of a child.

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

Yuichi is a teenage boy who was diagnosed with hepatitis; and as staying at the hospital is boring, he often sneaks out at night to hang out with his friends. However, each time he is caught by the slightly sadistic nurse Akiko, he just prolongs his stay at the hospital. After his most recent escape, instead of striking a punch or kick at Yuichi, Akiko says that she'll overlook his sneak outs if he becomes friends with 17-year-old Rika, another hospital resident. Rika doesn't open up to him at first, but she has her reasons: she has a weak heart; and though she may come off as selfish and rude, Yuichi looks beyond the surface to help both of them enjoy what life has to offer.

Both anime tell a beautiful story about overcoming obstacles for the ones that are precious to us. Their poetic narration is very subtle and touching. Hanbun no Tsuki and Totoro are anime at their best, and will give you hope.

NieA Under 7

NieA Under 7

In the future, aliens coexist freely with mankind on Earth. One such alien is NieA, a lazy yet spirited girl who wastes away her days while living with the studious Mayuko. And life isn't easy... Mayuko is always short on food money, the spa where she works is about to go bankrupt and Mayuko's alien-crazy friend Chiaki is obsessed with NieA. A light, mostly comedic slice-of-life show.

Abashi Abashi says...

Niea Under 7 is about a girl who encounters an alien. With this alien is a whole habitat of foreign creatures. Like in Totoro, there are other people just like her (the alien). I could give you more information, but that would be too much of a spoiler.
