Guided by a star only they can see, a group of maidens known as HiMEs have begun to gather at Fuuka Academy. These young women have been endowed with dangerous supernatural powers that they can use to their heart's content, but there's a price: to wield them, they must put their most important thing on the line. Now, in the midst of school work and friendships, they find themselves caught in the midst of strange conspiracies seemingly related to the terrifying monsters that attack them. Is the power of the HiMEs strong enough to save themselves and the ones they love?
In world where flesh-eating monsters roam the streets, only one organization has the means to save civilization from annihilation: Red Shield, a specially-organized unit designed to fight these monsters, and the only weapon that can destroy them: Saya. Awakened from a 30-year sleep, Saya is thrust into a modern world which she has no memories of, and is troubled by a past filled only with bloodshed and sadness. With the undying love and support of her family and friends, she struggles to gain the strength to move forward and regain the pieces of her shattered memories.
Blood+ and Mai-HiMe both have a great mix of drama, adventure and special powers, and have a mysterious story. There are other anime that have the same mix of elements, but few can do it well and have such a fitting atmosphere.
Some things in life are so bad that you'd like to pretend they're just a dream. Unfortunately for Kazuki, trying to save a strange girl from being brutally killed by monsters (and ending up dying instead) is an unfortunate reality. Out of pity, the girl replaces Kazuki's heart with an alchemy-based artifact known as Kakugane, so that he may live on. With this strange device, Kazuki gains the power of Busou Renkin -- Arms Alchemy; a power that will come in handy when monsters (and worse) begin to plague his town! Kazuki soon meets the girl from his “dream” (named Tokiko) in reality, and she tells Kazuki to get on with his life; but with his sister and friends in danger, that might not be possible. Besides, if Kazuki gives up the chance to show off just how manly he can be, how can he hope to win the heart of the alluring older-sister-like Tokiko?!
Both My-Hime and Busou Renkin take a school setting, and incorporate a need to battle opposing forces (though the forces in each are very different, that is besides the point) They both move fairly slowly, in that there aren't very many battles per episode, and some episodes lead to a battle in the next episode, this is mainly because there is a lot of side story that takes place during classes. It is my recommendation, that if you liked one, you are sure to like the other
Life is full of choices for high school hunk Tohru Nagase. While waiting for his home to be reconstructed, Tohru is invited to stay at fellow classmate Mizuho Yuuki's home, but she just happens to have a friend, Miko Kamiyama, who is crazy about Tohru! To top matters off, underclassman Ai Minamizato also has her eyes set on him and Mizuho is becoming frustrated at the way Tohru leads these girls on. But is she also developing feelings for the boy? It's going to be an emotional ride full of panty-shots and big, plump breasts for Tohru, who is just too much of a nice guy to tell any of these girls no!
Elf ban Kakyuusei and My-Hime both involve high school issues and students problems that they have with each other. There is also a great deal of ecchi seen in each while being high comical and amusing.
Poor Nana just is not able to adapt to her new life after being invited to stay in Kouta and Yuka's home. Especially when Lucy, the evil killer she's living with and despises, is turning out to be an incredibly sweet, clueless person named Nyuu who just wants to make others happy. Regardless, Nana is determined not to be shown up by the likes of her and will pull no stops at proving she can be useful too. Whether it be cleaning the floor, scrubbing the windows or even going on walks with the girl she hates the most, Nana is set on fitting into her new household. But through her efforts is she starting to grow close to Nyuu, despite the way she feels about Nyuu's other personality?
Right off the back in Elfen Lied and My-Hime horrible things happen or have happened to the main characters. Their struggle during the time of the series is how they have to deal with the hardships they have already faced and the challenges that they will face for the rest of their lives.my
Like most boys his age, the young Renton thinks of nothing but reffing – riding trapar waves on a board – and idolizes Holland, the leader of the renegade group of reffers named Gekko State. As an orphan of a famous hero, he lives a boring life with his grandfather until the beautiful Eureka crashes, literally, into his life. Now, with the help of his newfound friend and crush, Renton finds himself living amongst the crew of Gekko State. The errands are hard and the bullying is fierce, but with Eureka by his side, Renton just might find the courage to tough it out and even save the world!
Mai-HiMe and Eureka 7 resemble each other quite a bit. Their plots have well-integrated drama, themes of romance and mystery, and a nice ending. By mixing the same elements in a somewhat similar style, these two anime have a similar feeling yet a completely different plot. Don't miss these anime! ;)
