Guided by a star only they can see, a group of maidens known as HiMEs have begun to gather at Fuuka Academy. These young women have been endowed with dangerous supernatural powers that they can use to their heart's content, but there's a price: to wield them, they must put their most important thing on the line. Now, in the midst of school work and friendships, they find themselves caught in the midst of strange conspiracies seemingly related to the terrifying monsters that attack them. Is the power of the HiMEs strong enough to save themselves and the ones they love?
In the technologically-advanced Academy City, millions of students study superhuman and psychic powers. Judgment, a group made up of specially-trained students and adults, helps combat threats to the city and its people by helping apprehend power-wielding criminals. Mikoto, Kazari and Kuroko are three friends who juggle school and Judgment, all the while learning how to best use their skills. Together, they will help keep Academy City safe from the bad guys and have plenty of fun in the process.
As I watch To aru Kagaku no Railgun I can't help but notice the similarities between it and My-Hime. For starters both anime have a slightly ecchi feel to them but not so overwhelming that you are compelled to find a new show. Also, both anime deal with characters that have super powers and their learning of how they work (and use them in combat). There is also a good deal of humor in both of them (usually at the expense of one of the characters).
Though I have to say that one of the biggest comparisions I have to make is between Mai and Misaka Mikoto. They both are similar character archtypes (complete with their loving and clingy sidekicks) and both have a ton of power. The also are quite similar when it comes to disposition as well.
One more comparision for you between these 2 series is the sheer size of the cast. The both have a lot of characters in them and there appears to be a character for everyone in both series. You like Tsundere's? They both have that. You like shy and quiet? Got that too. The both do a great job of building up the characters as well so you will become quickly attached.
If you like one of these you are sure to like the other.
Momomiya Ichigo was a normal girl, worried mostly about her crush, Aoyama Masaya. However, just as she was finally able to date him, she was struck by a mysterious beam and everything changed. She is now part of the Mew Project, genetically fused with an endangered species of cat. With her new powers and companions, she must protect the earth from invading aliens.
Both series are about the main Heroin, who starts out as a normal school student, who ends up with some kind of mysterious power with which they must use to protect their loved-ones. However, in both cases, the real challenge lies in keeping their powers a secret from the ones they love the most.
The power to cross over dimensions is one that is deeply coveted -- a lesson that childhood friends Sakura and Syaoran learn the hard way when an unknown enemy attacks an archaeological dig in their country. As a result, Sakura's memories are scattered to different dimensions, causing her to fall into a deep sleep. In order to save Sakura's life, she and Syaoran must journey to various worlds in search of her memories, with the help of fellow travelers, Fai and Kurogane. But finding Sakura's memories won't be easy, and the price for traveling through time and space is high...
The first thing that came to mind, when I started watching Tsubasa Chronicles, was "This music sounds a lot like the music that gave me goosebumps in Mai-HiME".
And just recently, even though I'm only 5 episodes in so far, another resemblence popped up... There is fighting going on between people, who have some sort of 'summons' fighting for them. Childs in Mai-HiME, Kudan in Tsubasa...
Even though I expect the story to take a turn and I don't expect this last similarity to continue in Tsubasa, I do feel it's worth of making this recommendation! :) Enjoy!
Sumire Takahana was a once normal high school student, until one day, she picked up a mysterious brooch and began to see soul-eating demons known as Virus. Now under attack, Sumire was saved by the owner of the brooch, Lucia, and Lucia’s Vaccine-loaded gun. However, instead of shooting the Virus, Lucia accidentally shot Sumire herself, turning her into a living antivirus. Together, Sumire and Lucia will try to uncover the secrets of the Virus before they devour all of humankind.
Both series are action packed and have a hint of shoujo-ai , there both about defeating 'bad monsters' though there is difference between the series , they both are about girls fighting to save the world from evil.
