Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan

Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter and gather intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city's walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever...

Both animes are about struggles of mankind againts overpowering foe.

In Titan we got Titans (duh) whose sole purpose is to eat humans and in Mu-luv we got Aliens bent on wiping humans from the face of earth.

Both animes have a heavy feel when it comes to fights and same way of treating secondary characters not to mention "background" (bloody endings for many).

The difference between shows would be characters i guess. While Titans characters are pretty "normal" in Muv-Luv we can see that many chicks might as well play in harem/fanservice based shows...

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet

In the distant future, the human race is on the brink of destruction. Mankind, which now drifts in space aboard a massive, technologically-advanced base known as Avalon, is poised to launch one final, desperate attack against its enemy, the alien race Hideauze. It’s during this battle that Ledo, a mecha pilot, is thrown into a wormhole and sent to an unfamiliar place: Earth, the lost birthplace of humanity said to have turned to ice long ago. Having been saved by the inhabitants of the Gargantia, a fleet of ships that traverses the now-flooded planet, Ledo must come to terms with these primitive people with their backwards language and technology, learn to communicate, and try to find a way back home to his place in the sky.

Just the mechs in general, fighting aliens. In Muv the aliens are superior, in Gargantia mechs are superior. Loved the scarlet twins in Muv, very japanese take on the russians. Muv has such an awesome flow loved it.

Black Bullet

Black Bullet

In the year 2021, mankind was defeated by Gastrea, a parasitical virus, and was forced to live within a wall made of Baranuim monoliths, a metal that is able to subdue Gastrea. Soon, the "Cursed Children" were discovered: children born infected with the Gastrea virus who possess superhuman abilities. Due to the Gastrea virus' intervention, the Cursed Children could only be female. Civil Securities are formed to specialize fighting against Gastrea, operating with the pair of an Initiator, who are cursed children, and a Promoter, serving to lead the cursed children. Ten years after the war, Rentarou Satomi, a high school student and Civil Security member, and his Initator Enju Aihara, receive a secret mission to prevent Tokyo's destruction.

Both of these shows feature a world where humanity is contained and warring against monstrous creatures that threaten their way of life, though Muv-Luv fights with mechs while Black Bullet fights with super-powered, specialized agents. The main male protagonist hangs out with a bunch of female friends and allies and the show tends to focus more on the inner workings of their society and the arising problems as opposed to the bigger global conflict. Both shows hold the same atmosphere and decent accompanying music.
