Both series have a fantasy-historical setting.  While both feature a large cast of handsome male characters, they don't get overly caught up in fanservice and the like, instead opting for a serious approach.  Saiunkoku focuses more on romance and a female character, while Meine Liebe is more about the male characters, their friendships, and politics.

Both Kyo Kara Maoh! and Meine Liebe have a cast mostly consisting of attractive male characters.  They also both have hints of shonen-ai (more so in KKM).  While Kyo Kara Maoh! is more a comedy and Meine Liebe is more serious, chances are that if you like one you will probably like the other.

Both series are concerned with an imaginary country and its set of problems with a set of charming guys (in one way or another) trying to solve these problems. They don't lack tansion or action and if you're a fan of anime about politics you shouldn't miss any of these.

With both shows' casts of highly attractive bishounen characters and a similar theme of European politics, I think that Hetalia and Meine Liebe are natural recs for each other. Hetalia is lighter and sillier, and ML is darker and much more serious, but I think fans would like both.
