One such individual, Eiji Takanaka, is one of the best players in the virtual world; but when he accepts employment at E=X Corp, maintainers of the system, strange things begin to happen. Targeted by net-jackers, Eiji does his best to survive; but is this a test, or a game of life and death? And why do images of the AI EVE keep appearing on his screen?
