Shugo Chara!

Shugo Chara!

Hinamori Amu is a stylish punk rock girl who is liked and feared by her peers, but there's just one problem: she's actually a shy and quiet girl who can't seem to drop her self-fabricated facade! But when Amu finds three eggs in her bed, she had no idea her life would change forever. Out of the eggs pop Ran, Miki and Su, Amu's Guardian Charas; these being represent parts of Amu that she wishes she could be, even allowing Amu to transform into those parts at will! Now, with pressure from the other Guardians (including her crush, Hotori) to join their midst, dark sides of the psyche known as X Eggs to seal, and nefarious forces after a wish-granting egg known as the embryo, Amu's life has officially become more complicated!

Both Shugo Chara and Mamotte Lollipop have the magical essance that will drag people in. They have that embarrassed, indecisive, stubborn girl as the main character who can't really decide between the two main guys, mixed in with some humour. Shugo Chara may be a longer anime with more depth but Mamotte Lollipop is a short, sweet anime with the beckoning for the next series. I think that if you liked either one of these you'll enjoy its counterpart.

LittleChomp LittleChomp says...

The main characters of Shugo Chara! and Save Me! Lollipop, Amu and Nina respectively, are torn between two guys that they care about. In both cases, the guys seem different from one another; be they smooth, hot-headed, sensitive, or proud; but something in each of them catches and holds the girl's attention. If you enjoy watching a young girl struggle to find true love, you might like both of these shows.

Shugo Chara!! Doki

Shugo Chara!! Doki

The guardians’ lives have been somewhat quiet lately, as X Eggs have stopped appearing. But just when the gang start to question whether Easter has given up on the fight for the embryo, a new type of X Egg appears and the battle begins once more. Amu has a lot to worry about – not only with the appearance of the new X Egg, but also the anxiety of wondering if Dia will ever hatch! Above all else, will Amu finally be able to choose which guy she truly likes the most?

The romantic confusion that began for Amu in Shugo Chara! only gets worse in Shugo Chara!! Doki, but it is precisely that element that ties it together with Save Me! Lollipop. What is a young girl to do when she has so many guys around who always come through for her when she needs them? If you enjoyed watching Nina struggle to find her soul mate or Amu try to understand her heart, you may like the other too.

Both of these animes have a very centre focus of the main character unsure of whom out of 2 different guys to choose to be with romantically. Both are also mahou-shoujo, though Shugo Chara Doki more so.

The characters in these are extremely similar, yet completely different. New characters are practically introduced every episode in both Furuba and Mamotte and you'll love each adn every one of them. Plus there is the whole "keep the magic a secret from everyone", both from the curse from Furuba, and the contest in Mamotte. And the main two guys? Almost identical. You have the hot headed, stubborn, instinctive, competitive Kyo and Zero - and then there's the level headed, sweet, kind, mature Yuki and Ichii. The only difference in characters I suppose is the main girl. Tohru and Nina are like complete opposites. But just watch and find out I suppose.

I'm sure that this seems like a strange recommendation, because to be honest these two anime are nothing alike. For instance, Gelade has a lot more depth and a serious plot to it whilst Mamotte is more of a feel good anime. But I think that if you enjoyed the fighting, fantasy, magic, humour and romance in Mamotte then you'll definately enjoy watching Gelade.

Elemental Gelade has all the elements that Mamotte has but at a better standard. Much better. So if you've seen Mamotte! Loillipop, be sure to watch Elemental Gelade.

Ultra Maniac

Ultra Maniac

Sakura Nina, a magic girl from the Magic Kingdom, comes to the human world to continue her training. It would have been a simple scenario, if not for the fact that Nina's magic skills are subpar at best. Nina and her best friend Ayu subsequently find themselves turning normal high school life into crazy adventures, day after day, with a magical twist. But as time goes on, there are questions that must be answered -- why is Nina really in the human world? And why is her childhood friend, a black magic user named Maya, in the human world as well?

If you like one you'd like the other one too.

In both Tokyo Mew Mew and Save Me! Lollipop, a young girl's life is changed forever by a single event- in one case, the discovery of a magic pearl, and in the other, by the infusion of feline DNA. All of a sudden, there are battles being fought around her, and guys who take her breath away. Though Nina doesn't fight like Ichigo does, both shows have the same, bouncy attitude and romantic tension. Like one? Try the other! :)

Both Pokemon and Save Me! Lollipop follow a team or two guys and a girl as they struggle against fairly incompetent villains. To be sure, the basic premise and method of battle differs quite a bit, but the two shows balance humor and mischief with fighting to achieve their goals nicely. In addition, Team Rocket and the sorcerer team of San and Forte share the same method of departure from battle. ;) If you laughed at the humor in one show, you'll probably enjoy the humor in the other.

Looking for a light-hearted show about school kids using magic and growing to care for each other more? You'll find it in Magic Users Club and Save Me! Lollipop. They've got the same basic sense of humor and episodic nature, so if you enjoy one, the other's probably a good fit for you as well.

Both are magical girl series about girls who must adapt to the changes in their lives dealing with the use of magic and how they will get used to it as they go on. While two guys must protect Nina, Karin and Kazune must protect Himeka from danger. However, Karin is Kamichama Karin's main character, not Himeka.

Both of these shows are mahou-shoujo (Though Sailor Moon more so) and both feature guys as magical heroes as well as the girls.

Sailor Moon has more depth but both are also romances where love triangles take part in the storylines.
