She has her eyes set on Fairy Tail, a notoriously reckless and outrageous group of magic users who are likely to be drunk or destroying buildings and towns in the process of completing a job! Along with her fiery friend, Happy the flying cat, Natsu's archrival Gray and their overseer the invincible and beautiful Erza, Lucy sets forth for epic adventures that leave an epic amount of destruction in their wake. Karasune Karasune says...

Fairy Tail and Magi may as well be siblings. They're both set in a fantasy-like universe where magic users are a common sight to behold. The two series also include limitless adventures, interesting/unique character designs, bonds between friends, and numerous battles. While both shows tend to be pretty silly, they're not afraid to get serious. If you're interested in magic/fantasy and you liked one, I'm sure you would like the other.

shikikywketsuki shikikywketsuki says...

These anime's both are set in the fantasy era, but not only that but both are based around questing, magic, friends and that whole idea of fighting evil for a greater good which in both these cases is to proctect there friends and families.

ExoCore ExoCore says...

They are both set around fantasys and super power, the character and actually drawn nicely rather than those of sloppy and non human look imo, I really love the theme of both, which is protecting close friends, it's very cool

Fargo Fargo says...

Both of these animes center around friendship and fantasy action, magic being one of the driving forces of both their universes. Fairy Tail has a bigger cast of characters, but both main casts go on escapades to defeat whatever evil gets in their way.

If you love Magi and Aladdin, then watch Fairy Tail. Both centers around magic and like Aladdin, Natsu too is exceptional being one of the few users of dragon slaying magic. They both have the potential in them, but, both they too inexperienced and must learn and experience a lot more. They are both innocent and treasure friendship. Watching them is fun and you just can't help but love both of them.

rosfh rosfh says...

These shows are both fun, light hearted shonens with tons of good action and great character development. Magi is a little serious than fairytail which is nice, but fairytail has much more emotional scenes. both great storytelling and memorable characters!!

animeloversrule animeloversrule says...

If you liked Magi you will also like Fairy Tail because they are very similar in that they both have Magic users in them and they are both set in a world where magic actually erxists and everyone knows that it exists. I also like that they characters all go on long adventures with their friends and also meet new ones. While on their adventures they can change other peoples life drastically.

AzizulHaque AzizulHaque says...

These fantasy animes are great if you like the concept on magic. Both main characts go on adventures and discover new things. There is also comedy in both animes and a few sad parts.

but if you have watched one of these animes you should definantly watch the other

JohnWatchAnime JohnWatchAnime says...

Both Magi and Fairy Tail are about a world where some people have the gift to use magic. It is to the main charcters to use it and fight evil. Both shows have a very simular feel to it when watching eventhough there are quite some differences.

just an overall entertaining show. not too corny, childish, or girly, and not overly sexual. Great anime for cosplay ideas. Perfect for the adult with child like energy and enthusiasm

Fairy Tail and Magi are both so similar. They both give off the good feelsy vibes. Both have great stories and characters, and the animation is the same, as well as some of the voice cast. Both of these anime are in my top 10. They are amazing. If you liked one, you'll like the other.

Achilles83 Achilles83 says...

Similar sense of optimism and adventure combined with intrigue. Both have positive themes and undertones of character, family, self exploration and exploration / adventure. Though magi doesn't have as much humor or fan service so far. that's probably the biggest difference so far is that magi seems to take things and itself a little more seriously.

sweetsformitsukuni sweetsformitsukuni says...

Both Magi and Fairy Tail include characters that form close family-like bonds and share action packed adventures and battles.

Nillen Nillen says...

Both of these series are made by the same animation studio, and you can totally tell due to the fact that they are both animated exactly the same way with the same background settings and everything. I'm pretty sure 90% of the staff who worked on Magi also worked on Fairy Tail. It also feels like the lines in both of these are directly copied from each other, you can always imagine a Fairy Tail character saying the lines they say in Magi for instance.

Setting and story-wise they're not that far off either, both are set in a world where magic is quite common, in Magi it's hyped at first like being super rare, but then you realize there are a ton of people who have magic as well...

Anyway, if you liked either, you'll like the other. They're both shounen type action anime filled with adventures in a world you've not yet seen.

Trinityninja Trinityninja says...

Fairy Tail and Magi are a lot alike, except Magi focuses on much less people having magic and dungeons, while fairy tail focuses on quests and exploration. Magi also gives off a bit more of a childish vibe, but to be honest there are really intense moments, not as much as Fairy Tail, but definitely worth your while. Magi also has the same ability fairy tail has where it can make you feel bad for the antagonists. Overall, Magi's a bit of a different style but I can definitely say both of these are worth checking out!

AnnaSartin AnnaSartin says...

Fun adventure stories filled with magic and colorful characters. Both are set in a fanasty version of the ancient past.

marsonearth marsonearth says...

Fairy Tail is as amazing as Magi. Seriosuly, both series are have similar parts such as adventures, battles, problems... And I loved both series very much.

I will just say YOU MUCT WATCH BOTH. I would start off from Magi and then watch Fairy Tail, because in my opinion, Fairy Tail is a little bit better and longer, which could make some people a little tired of watching, but its worth it in the end :D

WolfAngelus WolfAngelus says...

The closest match out there, both offer a fair amount of magic/combat/action/adventure, combined with the fantasy style setting and comedy factors. If you watched either of these, you will feel right at home with the other one.

The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins

The kingdom of Liones is thrown into turmoil when the king's Holy Knights are corrupted by a distinctly unholy demonic power. The land's only hope is a band of powerful warriors known as The Seven Deadly Sins - an exiled group of oddballs who seem to spend as much time fighting each other as they do fighting their enemies. Princess Elizabeth desperately seeks their aid, but the leader of her would-be saviors turns out to be an undersized pervert with a broken blade and a talking pig! They are soon joined by a jealous giant, a fussy fairy, and an immortal bandit pining over his lost love. Can these people really be the legendary heroes she's looking for?

If you liked Magi or Hunter x Hunter, you'd like the other. Both series have a group of characters who go on an adventure filled with strange sights. One major similarity between the series are the naive main characters (Aladdin and Gon, respectively), whom see the world from a diffferent perspective. Both series have a charm to them that will make you smile throughout, yet will also have darker moments that are unexpected.

Tseng Tseng says...

Both Gon and Alladin share very similar traits, and they impact the people around them with their naivety and strong will.

SaihoJi SaihoJi says...

Both series feature an adorable small-sized main character, who is kind-hearted and not entirely aware of this extent of his power, but drastically influences the lives of others. Also, both take place in a world where magic is common and the main focus is on bonds of friendship that grow through a series of adventures. Finally, while Hunter x Hunter is not as fast-paced as Magi, both are full of action, impressive battles and adventure.

Extremely similar character structure. By this I mean the relationships (totally complex and interesting), the humor they use, the amazing growth of each character, etc. Both are very similar yet totally unique too. Both are highly recommended!

Fullmetal Alchemist

Fullmetal Alchemist

Once upon a time, two brothers passed the happy days of their childhood by studying alchemy, which is governed by the equal transfer principle: an eye for an eye -- you can't get more than you give. But these brothers tried to defy that law, and a horrific accident resulted. Now, the older brother, Edward, is called the Full Metal Alchemist because of his metal limbs, and the younger, Alphonse, is a soul without a body, trapped within the confines of an automaton. Together they search for the power to restore themselves, to find the lives they lost so long ago...

Fairly astonished to not see these two recommended with each other so far. Both are adventures of sorts with a very similar mix of battles, dark moments, comedy (but minimally/not over the top) and a fantasy backdrop. Once Magi gets past the more random beginning few episodes, they have a similar feel for sure. I preferred FMA by far as Magi eventually turns very generic shounen (as far as the crazily extended boring shounen battles), but fans of one will appreciate the other to some extent.

Sianeka Sianeka says...

Both Magi and Fullmetal Alchemist are fantasy adventures with a blend of humor and action; both share a very similar feel in the way that serious matter is handled with a bit of levity thrown in to keep each series from becoming overly melodramatic.

Both series, at their heart, each have a solemn and earnest premise: Magi's Alibaba Saluja is dealing with the responsibilities of having been born with royal blood and FMA's Edward Elric is faced with restoring his maimed body and that of his brother.Yet each throws in generous comic relief to prevent the stories from ever becoming heart-wrenching.

Both series are set in a world where magic exists - Magi in a desert land of the Arabian Nights with genies and magic carpets and FMA in a world where alchemy is a tangible science and where reality is manipulated according to alchemic law.

Although the story reaches deeper and is developed more in FMA, fans of either show should appreciate the similar character treatments and general atmosphere of the other.

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

Both of these series combine magic, adventure, comedy, and drama. Both anime are set in worlds full of corruption, poverty, war, but also hope. Both anime also follow the premise that you can't gain power without being willing to sacrifice, through equivalent exchange or Beating a labyrinth. Both anime also have equally strong male and female characters, sweeping landscapes, and diverse cultures. So, if you liked one, check out the other.

They are both stories about becoming a king. The protagonists goes on a journey to become stronger and understand themselves.

Ph3onix13 Ph3onix13 says...

These two anime are related as it involves kings from different countries. In Magi there are dungeons involved and all the episodes stick to the protagonist whilst in 12 Kindoms there are characters transforming into horses and at certain episodes the anime veered off to other kingdoms characters.

Otherwise both anime are focused on adventure and fantasy. They are the sort of anime that you should take seriously as they show the struggles of the protagonist and what they do to become more powerful. At first I thought Magi would be a very easy going anime but it is not. Do watch both of these anime as they are awesome!!

FullmetalDragon FullmetalDragon says...

Both series feature a very similar fantasy world with lots of great characters. Magi is a bit more lighthearted and less political than Twelve Kingdoms, but they're both great series.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The foundation of alchemy is based on the law of equivalent exchange; you cannot produce something from nothing. As such, alchemy is bound by one taboo - human transmutation. Four years ago two young brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, broke this taboo when they tried to resurrect their dead mother. During the process Al's body disintegrated and Ed lost his leg. In a desperate attempt to prevent his brother from disappearing completely, Ed sacrificed one of his arms so he could affix Al's soul to a suit of armor. When his missing limbs are replaced by auto mail parts, Ed bears the name of the Fullmetal Alchemist - the youngest ever State Alchemist and dog of the military. Now, alongside his brother, Ed uses his status within the military to attempt to find any way that he can return their bodies back to their original state.

They are basicallty the same thing. Both happen in a world not so different from ours, some years in the past. In both of them, we have a secret society with evil plans(who ignite wars and powerty in the world) and som elite soldiers on their side. Even the gate of wisdom(truth) makes an appearance. Same goes for the alchemist circles. Both have stunning artwork and nice battles. Both have a lot of politics in the mix. Magi is not as good as FMAB, but if you liked one, you will like the other.

The two animes have similiar feeling and atmosphere into them. Music is big part of creating that feeling since they both have somehow similiar soundtracks. Also both have about same amount of fighting and comedy and magic. Of course there's the original Fullmetal alchemist, but seen them both I would suggest you watch this since this one actually has a plot.

Both series at their heart, have a solemn and earnest premise and both series are based in a world manipulated by forces of evil led by a sinister cult trying to achieve world domination. Both are set in a world where magic exists. Humor and exaggerated comedy are used generously to lighten the tone.

Very similar feel and atmosphere with both animes. Magi is set in a more Arabian themed world whereas Akame ga kill is a mixture of multiple cultures melded into one world. Although both animes share strong plots, well developed stories, funny moments, focus on magic, and commendable action scenes, One big difference is that Akame ga Kill does not suffer from fluff like Magi does. Akame ga Kill has no issue with showing gore and violence and characters don't whine about love and friendship all the time. Magi focuses moreso on friendship and passion and the "right" thing to do while Akame ga Kill simply portrays its characters in their most brutal and honest form. Both animes are well worth watching.
