Synopsis:

When Lieutenant Shin Kudou of the UN air force is shot down over the Pacific by the Anti-UN Alliance, he awakens on a lush island called Mayan, whose natives live by some very strange rules. Their spiritual leader, Sara, intends to keep their lives separate from the rest of civilization to prevent the rise of the ‘birdman’ who will destroy the world. Unfortunately for the natives of Mayan, both sides of the conflict have taken an interest in their island, and all too soon, the outsiders' interference spells a disaster as terrible as any myth.

Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team

Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team

War between the Earth Federation and Zeon has ground to a bloody standstill, and both sides eagerly seek a quick resolution. Among these is Ensign Shiro Amada, a young mobile suit pilot for the Federation assigned to the 08th mobile suit division in the heart of the Vietnamese jungle. The members of his team include Karen, a hot-headed pilot and part time mechanic; Sanders "The Reaper," a pilot with a reputation for getting the people in his unit killed; Eledor, an aspiring musician, flirt, and communications officer for the team; and Mikel, the love-struck driver for the team's command vehicle. As the gravity of war bears down on their shoulders, they must struggle to keep their sanity amidst a chaotic battlefield that continually tests their wit, focus, and resolve.

While MSG 08th MS Team's mecha are lumbering, land-bound machines of guerilla warfare, Macross Zero showcases the finest work in the industry today with a meld of beautiful CG and lush cel animation married to a wonderful story. 08th MS Team goes deeper than the average Gundam series, and Macross Zero delves even deeper with a fresh look at a classic mythos.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

I recommend Seed because it's good, if not better than Macross Zero. There both about the hero who has to make the right choice. Plus theres tons of robots for all you mecha lovers!!! (including myself)

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny

The Year is Cosmic Era 73, two years after the end of the war between Earth and the PLANTs. Peace had finally been achieved thanks to efforts put forth by both sides, but it was not meant to last. When rebel Earth Forces soldiers infiltrate the PLANTs and steal ZAFT's new prototype Gundams, it's up to Shinn Asuka and the crew of the Minerva warship to hunt them down and retrieve their mobile suits. With the war now back in full swing, will Shinn and the others find a way to restore peace?

If you like mecha combat Macross Zero is the way to go. Macross Zero is one of the series that has the most detailed, action packed and realistic combat I have ever seen in a mecha anime. What Gundam Seed Destiny lacks in quality it makes up for in quantity, you have the "50 vs. 50" type battles and you get to see a lot of different mecha designs, bringing with it that they don't look as realistic as those used in Macross Zero.

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo is all about style, from the dj-style scratching scene changes to the hip-hop-inspired soundtrack to the eclectic character design. Mugen's fighting style is a funky meld of capoeira and limb-cutting, and Jin is the dramatic foil; he is all steel and old-school samurai style. What binds them together is the desire to test each other's abilities, and a promise to a girl named Fuu: to find the samurai that smells of sunflowers, who plays a pivotal role in her past. Together they travel through edo-era Japan, finding battle and comedy wherever they stop.

Even though this is not a futuristic series like Macross, I think it appeals to the same crowd. It's geared for more of an older audience, with the fight scenes being more "believable" (opposite of naruto). It's also one of those that doesn't go on forever. It's a good quality made anime, almost like macross zero.
