Several months after battling with Kamjin, Lynn Minmay puts on one last show in Macross City, reminiscing about all of the past events that she and the rest of the gang have gone through together. Meanwhile, the Megaroad-01, a colony vessel commanded by Misa Hayase, prepares to launch into space on a new goal: to spread humanity across the stars and further explore the vast universe.
Sort of a nice recap in both of these, set to clips of the show, mixed with music from the pop singer in both series.
Think early AMV action. It probably would mean more to you had you seen the series in both cases.
In a far-off galaxy, there exists a world much the same as Earth. Save for blue skin, the people are near identical - especially with their taste for rockin' dance music. When a strange alien abduction craft lands on the planet to steal their most popular band, however, all hope seems lost. With their story told entirely via Daft Punk's album Discovery, join The Crescendolls in a journey to rediscover both themselves and their music in a galaxy millions of light years away from home.
Both anime take on telling a story through songs. While the songs are completely different genres they both share a sci-fi theme. I wouldn't suggest watching Flash Back 2012 before watching the macross series but if you liked it you should enjoy Interstella 5555.
