Sure one series has magic and the other is technological but there's a saying that goes that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic ;-) Besides, both series are fun to watch and ecchi-riffic.

sublime sublime says...

Substitute magic for technology, add comedy and stir in heaps of ecchi. Leave to simmer at gas mark 9 and you'll have plenty of things to enjoy about Steel Angel and Maburaho if you loved one or the other.

NoSanninWa NoSanninWa says...

If you enjoy lots of cute girls flirting with a likeable male lead caught up in fantastic events seasoned with lots of ecchi and comedy, then these two shows are for you. Kurumi is an action show while Maburaho is a comedy, but they are very much alike.

sAsAk1 sAsAk1 says...

Both anime's have a cute girl that is seriously devoted to the main character. Magic is also a big part of both although Steel Angel Kurumi uses robots to show the supernatural. If you liked the humour in Maburaho, you will probably like the humour in Steel Angel Kurumi. The same kind of ...-Sama humour :)

TomikelT TomikelT says...

Both anime have the Male protagonist being chased by two to three girls. The main girl that is chasing him is the anime type who will do anything to please her master. In each anime the girls do the fighting and the guy does the support.

A similar school setting, lots of unreal powers. Both series have it. Though where the humor in DearS is mainly fanservice-based. Maburaho only has this a little. Maburaho also has alot more drama and romance than DearS has.

Those Anime are similiar because of an unrealistic reason of love between main characters and both series give us a proof that even an confusion and hesitation can lead to a beautiful love...

sAsAk1 sAsAk1 says...

The same ecchi, pantsu humour. And of course the harem theme. They both have the same 'feel'. As light romantic comedy with a hint of drama. And of course the supernatural aspect of the story.

lainkitty lainkitty says...

In both the lead character is male and he is surrounded by girls. Both have lost of comedy, Maburaho tends to have more drama and has magic and things that are revealed throughout but they have a lot of the same feel throughout.

Magikano

Magikano

Haruo is a short geeky schoolboy with a whiny voice and glasses, and the only one in his family without magic powers. Therefore it should come as no surprise that his life is a constant struggle to prevent being ravished by any nearby female. When a witch under a curse named Mamiya enters the fray, Haruo's precious maidenhood that he holds onto so dearly is placed in grave danger. With the added risqué brought on by the arrival of this new number one contender, Haruo's struggle becomes even more desperate, and his hidden powers begin to awaken.

Both of these stories are cutesy harem comedies centered around a lovable but fairly useless male character who possesses mysterious great powers that have their own profound limitations. They are another set of formulaic stories, but are still fun to watch. Maburaho tends to lean towards the more romantic aspects of the harem stories, and Magikano seems to focus more on the comedic elements, but there's plenty of overlap for both.

Ran Ran says...

Both Magikano and Maburaho feature a boy that has great magic powers but ignores or cannot use them. A harem soon rises around him and he'll use his magic when he needs to save one of his friends.

Tgeahre Tgeahre says...

Both of these series have a similar absurd comedy style and are based around a world of magikal women doing crazy things for the love of an individual man. Because both are so short the writters didn't have to worry about saving jokes for later in the series allowing the humor to be packed in tight. Finally, though Maburaho has it's dead spots, Magikano is rarely lack of an absurdly hilarious (non-plot-developing) joke.

Damaged Damaged says...

To me these anime's are spitting images of each other. The both feature a male character that has super poweful magic and can't use it (for different reasons of course). Also, the male character is totally sought after by all the girls in the series, but the male is totally oblivious. Both these animes have a perverted theme to them as well. Basically, if you liked one, you are going to like the other because they are more or less the same anime

Both are school harems. With the main girl having pink hair caring the most for the guy, the main girls act almost exactly the same, and both clame to be the real girlfriend/wife. Both the guys are lames, but the one in Maburaho is probably the strongest in the whole school.

SoulEaterQUEEN SoulEaterQUEEN says...

Harem. Focused on the male lead that seems to be completely normal. Both have supernatural elements included in it and they focus on protecting the male lead. Both contain school life elements as well.

Same plot in almost an identical setting. One weak useless boy with tons of girls looking forward to get into his pants. If you like one, you will like the other for sure.

Maburaho and Shuffle! are both romance comedies dealing with a magical element. Both Kazuki and Rin are your relatetively average guys who just happen to have loads of girls with magical powers drop in on them. Maburaho focuses a little more on comedy than Shuffle!, but some parts of the shows almost mirror each other drama-wise.

tellu54 tellu54 says...

Both Maburaho and Shuffle! are "magical harem in a school", and feature a main female lead who knew the hero in his childhood, lots of panty shots, and things blowing up offscreen.

Apon veiwing both Shuffle and Maburaho I can see many things that would attract the veiwers from one to watch the other. For instance both seem to be an all out harem anime mixed with a few other tones. I had a good laugh watching both from the drama and comety in Maburaho to the daughter handing-out kami-sama of shuffle. they both have there own twists and terns so i recomend you check them out!

The Familiar of Zero

The Familiar of Zero

In a world where magic is a reality, the young Louise is at the bottom of her class. Dubbed "Zero" by her classmates at Tristein Academy (due to her zero success rate for magic), Louise (along with all first year students) was charged with summoning a familiar; and instead of a cute magical creature, the familiar arrived in the form of... Saito Hiraga, a normal Japanese boy who was abruptly teleported from his own world?! Can both Louise and Saito come to terms with their new and complicated "relationship" and (more importantly) help Saito find a way home?

Both Maburaho and Zero no Tsukaima are comedy series about a school for magicians. The main heroes (Shikimori Kazuki and Hiraga Saito) are both somewhat weak in magic, but are portrayed as kind people.

Speaking of ecchi probably Tsukaima is much more light than Maburaho but in both you have comical situations, misunderstandings and one male character who is really bad at doing magic.

Ultra Maniac

Ultra Maniac

Sakura Nina, a magic girl from the Magic Kingdom, comes to the human world to continue her training. It would have been a simple scenario, if not for the fact that Nina's magic skills are subpar at best. Nina and her best friend Ayu subsequently find themselves turning normal high school life into crazy adventures, day after day, with a magical twist. But as time goes on, there are questions that must be answered -- why is Nina really in the human world? And why is her childhood friend, a black magic user named Maya, in the human world as well?

Both of these are love stories involving magic. In Ultra Maniac, one person (the main character) has the ability to use magic. It's a cute love story, definitely geared more for a female audience, but I still found it pretty entertaining as a guy. Maburaho is a huge contrast to Ultra Maniac, where pretty much everyone in the anime can use magic (except for the main character, who's kind of a failure with his ability... but he can still use magic a VERY limited amount of times). Maburaho is without a doubt geared for a male audience - one man, multiple women. If you're a guy and you watched Ultra Maniac and didn't like it but want a love story with magic, check out Maburaho. If you're a girl and watched Maburaho and thought it was a perverted anime for guys, you'll be much happier with Ultra Maniac. Personally, I enjoyed both... bow to me, the anime hermaphrodite.

The similarities are really obvious. Both series have one loser of a guy as main character and a lot of girls who'd love to sex him up. Also magic plays a really important role in both series. Possibly the best recommendation for eachother as there are no real major differences.

CuthienSilmeriel CuthienSilmeriel says...

Both Maburaho and Psychic Academy are about a shy loser male lead who is still loveable all the same for his strength of heart. The male lead happens to possess incredible dormant potential which has limitations restricting its use; this puts them in the below-average underdog role. In both anime, the theme of schools and girls are ever present, as well as a sense of fantasy.

Yumeria

Yumeria

When Mikuri Tomokazu fell asleep on his 16th birthday, he expected to dream of girls and happy places -- but instead found himself on a strange battlefield in a desolate world! Now, Mikuri is saddled with the responsibility of saving the both the human and dream worlds from forces that could spell their destruction! But, more importantly, he is also saddled with a legion of adoring voluptuous girls. Questions abound: Who will Mikuri grope next? Will he ever score? And, less importantly, will the world be destroyed?

Maburaho and Yumeria are two fairly terrible harem comedies with plenty of ecchiness. Both have relatively unique concepts, so that's a plus, but I also felt like stabbing my brain out when watching each of these. Nevertheless I think if you liked one you'd like the other for the tone, mood, and ecchi theme.

Both romantic comedies with a lot of ecchi moments. Maburaho can be more serious and dramatic at times but also can be funnier. Overall both of these have the same feel to them with the girls and the main character guys.

Maburaho and Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan what makes them the same is there craziness and heartfelt advnetures. In the case of Maruraho the main character is only allowed to use magic eight times while the average amount is around 80,000. Though his power has the ability to create or destroy the very earth. He is also chased by three very beautiful ladies all fighting for his love. In the case of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan the main character is trying to get rid of one girl so he can have another girl. Though his problem is the one is sent by God. In both serious there is some action involved in each episode and in the case of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan there is a lot of blood so be warned. Each serious is garneted to make you laugh and cry while watching them. These are a much watch for fun anime.

Verdeloth26 Verdeloth26 says...

These two are comical in the same way, in that they are mostly about sex. However, the roles that sex play in both of these series are on oposite ends of the spectrum; in Maburaho, they're trying to get his genes and in Dokuro-chan, they are trying to keep him from becoming a pervert. In either case, if you liked one, you will probably get a kick out of the other.
