Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh both focus on a group of girls in their crazy lives in high school. If you enjoy the humor and funny characters of Lucky Star you will find Azumanga Daioh a real treat.
Both Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are about absolutely nothing - with surprisingly good results. Both animes are heavily character-driven, and there is also a fair share of cute girls, skeptical girls, and silly teachers.
Both series feature random, spontaneous humor that often parodies other shows while humorously discussing various aspects of daily life that nobody ever really thinks or talks about.
Both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are 100% plotless (but cute, funny and realistic) series about a bunch of high school girls with quirky personalities.
If you like Lucky Star or Azumanga, I'd say you're nearly guaranteed to like the other; both have the same loose-humor tone, including the same sorts of activities (summer vacation, sports festivals, etc). Both also manage to be realistic about day-to-day school life, yet still are funny, cute, and surprisingly, not boring (unlike To Heart).
Both Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are so-called 'slice of life' anime: they are, in fact, the very essence of it. Both series follow the everyday (but not boring!) lives of high school girls, and a lot of jokes are made out of very ordinary things. Many characters in one series have a strongly corresponding character in the other - and in both series the characters have really strong characteristics. I'm sure you will love these girls! Both anime also somewhat rely on the 'kawaii factor', Azumanga maybe more in the actual events, but you can't deny that Lucky Star's animation style is just adorable.
Both have aimless, plotless fun, a primarily female cast, and a heavy emphasis on cuteness. The primary difference is that Azumanga is a bit more immersive and character-based, while Lucky Star prides itself on anime subculture references (mostly notably references to The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, both done by the same studio as LS) and sometimes comes off as a sort of "inside joke" between the creators and their fans. Both are great shows.
When you watch both Azumanga and Lucky Star, you can notice a lot of similarities such as having a lot of "boring" scenes, which make the two series a lot funnier. In both there's a lot of chatting between the girls, and of course misunderstandings that end up being funny.
It's easy to tell that Azumanga is parodied in Lucky Star, also.
If you liked the comedy in Lucky Star but not the otaku stuff, you will love Azumanga. :)
Both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh have a similar style of humour, although the jokes in AD are more random. Although you might be disappointed with the intelligence of jokes at the beginning of AD (at least if you compare them with those from LS), there is still a big chance that you will get hooked, so give it a try.
I have a word of warning for you though, if you ever wondered how what "death by moe" would look like (Konata's father mentioned it in one of the later episodes), then I can assure you that Azumanga is really "deadly".
Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star have one thing in common that can make this recommendation a perfect success, or a major failure: both are the type of anime you either love or hate! If after three episodes you still don't like then, you aren't going to get into them later on.
That being said, there are way too many resemblances to mention. From the character-driven jokes to the random plotless humor and cuteness, you'll find all of the key elements in both!
Both Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are about school and have fantastic comedy elements. There's the right dose of cuteness and humour, along with some drama and a decent story line that doesn't have massive plot holes. There are a few hyper characters but the series are generally good for laughs and are an excellent pick-me-up if you are feeling slightly blue. These are guaranteed to please you.
Both Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are about every day school life. Although a lot of series share this 'genre' Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star also share the same kind of humor and laid back atmosphere. The similarity is striking.
Although I've only seen one episode of LS, the two series seem to be very close in format in that they are more slice-of-life and episodic than story-driven. However, I found LS very annoying.
Lucky Star and Azumanga have a very similar atmosphere; both are slice of life anime about high school girls going about their everyday lives.
If you like the weird Japanese humor and high school setting of one, it's a pretty safe bet you'll enjoy the other as well.
Both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh take place around a group of highschool girls proceeding through their school careers. Each one has a bit of a serious nature, but 90% of it is fun comedy. If you watched Lucky Star for the comedy or scenarios, I'm sure you'd like Azumanga Daioh.
These two series are peas in a pod, relying on absolute stupidity to make brilliant comedy. They're also both slice-o'-life comedies centered around a group of schoolgirls.
Both Lucky star and azumanga are about highschool girls, based off of highly popular 4 panel comics, have great visuals, and are great comedies. the diffences are in that azumanga is mostly filled with situations based off of insane characters in normal situations and has a bit more of a plotline, lucky star is more satyrical and random.
Both shows are about a group of friends having some pretty weird adventures while living out their 'normal' highschool lives. Surely you can't get enough of random comedy with almost no plot. ^^
While they both don't usually share the same topics discussed in the series they both share the kind of randomness in where the discussions start.
And while the characters don't have the same personalities there are several that share the same kind of personality feature in them.
Both series' are rather random comedies following a group of female highschool students; with each of the characters from both anime being unique, witty and charming. Both are ideal veiwing if you need cheering up or just love a good laugh.
Complete and utter nonsense in your "average" high school day is all I have to say. Both skip around a bunch of high school girls (and sometimes the occassional guy) and their crazy antics with plenty of cameos and otaku references abound.
Both Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are all about randomness! They are about a bunch of adorable high-school female students with really odd but interesting personalities! Lucky Star is probably the evolution of Azumanga Daioh as far as both the animation and the humour is converned! If "WTF" humour is your fav, then you'll love those anime!
Both of these series are about average schoolgirls who have random conversations. Both of them are very similar and funny, and fans of one of the series are sure to like the other.
Both are really amazing random comedies without a full backbone of story. Both follow the life of a group of high school girls as they live their lives. Both are so very alike, if you like one, you will have to like the other.
Both are about school girls who go about their daily lives in a comical way.
both are very funny and and give you and slice of life.
Lucky Star uses a lot of anime/otaku culture jokes whereas AzuDaioh is much more traditional, but beyond that there isn't much these two don't have in common. They're both about a group of high school girls, and have elements of slice-of-life mixed into the comedy. They also both utilize a skit-like structure, inherited from their 4-koma manga origins. Unless one of the comedy styles just doesn't appeal to you, if you liked one of these series the other is an easy pick.
OMG, so random. That's really all you can say about these shows: they're random, and they're hilarious. Add in the fact that they both revolve around the daily lives of a quirky group of friends, and these shows are a match made in heaven.
Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are comedies that rely on slice of life moments without a definite plot. Both follow a group of Highschool girls and the humour is derived from the interaction between the members of the cast, most of which display a zany behaviour. Azumanga Daioh's appeal might be wider while Lucky Star includes some otaku jokes that might be lost to many but both titles are likely to interest the same kind of public.
Both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are delightfully random and quirky, and draw their humor from similar situations. With each series focusing on the ordinary exploits of Japanese school girls and the exaggerated personalities of the main characters, the things you enjoy about one are likely to be the same things you'll enjoy about the other.
The relaxed pace of everyday life, more precisely school life, with a healthy dosis of humour. Both execute this in their own manner, with Azumanga slightly faster and with a more surreal cast; Lucky Star more tranquil, zooming in on the weirdness of some details of the lifestyle of its characters.
Shunning the more serieus things in life, or making fun of some of them, both series are ideal for some brainless laidback fun. Did one of them prove to you you're the person to enjoy that, there's no reason to believe the other might not.
Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are both slice-of-life anime series that focus more on the school environment. Both of these series have the same style of, at times, insane humour surrounding a group of close friends, that can be watched quite easily when you just want to sit back and have some fun.
Like lucky star, but way better. Azumanga is the mother of high school comedies and Lucky Star was primarily based on the same genre. If you like Lucky Star in any scence, then Azumanga's a must.
Slice of life to the maxsuuu!!! Both are set in a highschool and they follow the daily lifes of the various highschool girls who are the lead roles. I'f you are searching long and far for another amazing all around slice o life comedy! Look no further me good man! Or if you just want something to watch do the same.... Or something..... >.<Good luck with your coming battle then. *facepalms* Hmmmmm there both great and I'm sure you'll enjoy which ever one you havent watched yet.
If you liked Lucky Star, you'll love Azumanga Daioh! It's very similar in that there isn't really any plotline whatsoever, it just captures the humor and hilarity of everyday events in a Japanese high school life.
Lucky Star looks like a GAINAX version of Azumanga Daioh (Note: Lucky Star was done by Kyoto Animation, not GAINAX). However, since Lucky Star focuses a lot in jokes regarding the anime industry, makeing it hard for those who are not otaku to understand most of the jokes.
There are also many japanese cultural references in both anime, but either one can be enjoyed regardless. Azumanga Daioh has probably easier and funier jokes, buy Lucky Star follows right behind it with its special endings.
Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are both about the lives of high school girls. The stories contain tons of randomness which is bound to make you laugh.
Every character in both Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are very unique and have their own special personality.
Though Lucky Star is more of a parody, they more or less have the same feel.
Those animes both are really cute. They possess amusing characters and will provide a good and catchy story for School Stories Lovers
With a similar setting (Highschool), characters (Group of female friends), and style (One joke after another irrespective of timeframe), Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star share some striking similarities. This goes all the way to the individual level, as you'll find bits of Tomo's impulsiveness and slacker ways in Konata, Kagami's dieting and harsh statements in Yomi, and Sakaki's soft spoken ways in Minami.
While Lucky Star takes a hard left into Otaku territory, the casual viewer can still find plenty of laughs without being familiar with old shampoo commercials or the intricacies of dating sims. If you like one, you'll like the other.
Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star uses no main plot other than to follow certain slice-of-life events of high school girls.
Azumanga Daioh would follow a cast of characters that are more realistic in the sense of the norm, for as Lucky Star would follow characters with passion or the extreme of certain qualities and hobbies. Though the series may differ from the cast of characters they contain, both are able to accomplish the same style of small events that are sure to put a smile on your face.
If you enjoyed one, it is certain that the other won't disappoint.
Both of these anime's focus on random humor and are about really nothing more than the daily lives of the characters in the show. The character development in each series really grabs you and the writers did a great job of giving each character their own individual personality that will make you love the.
A group of quriky high school girls doing nothing, talking about nothing but it's somehow funny and entertaining. No magical girls, robots, boys.. just high school girls.. Wait, which anime am I talking about? Well both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh!
Be it Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh, both of them show you the life experiences of very individual highschool girls till they graduate. You'll get very familiar with each charakter in both series, so you'll definitley like one if you liked the other.
Both Azumanga and Lucky Star are slice of life comedy series about school girls, with many similar characters. Lucky Star's humour is based more around anime/manga/video game references whereas Azumanga's is much more based on school life. They are both brilliant series, however, and well worth watching.
Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are an obvious match. They share a similar format of disconnected vignettes that follow a core of characters through three years of high school. They have a nearly identical array of character archetypes, and both combine a lot of wacky humor, periodic slapstick, and occasional senimentallity. Lucky Star is the more high octane of the two, but it lacks Azumanga Daioh's dream sequence gags.
Like Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star has no consistent plot to speak of, and gets by with random humor, which thankfully, works extremely well.
Irreverant humor, abounding. 'Nuff said... K fine I have to say more. Both deal with ridiculous exaggerated girls in everyday situations to which the react in an unorthidox fashion for immense comic effect. There.
The moment you switch on the TV and start watching Lucky star - Episode 1: The girl who Dashes Off - you will notice the prominent similarities in your now-watching Lucky star and your watched Azumanga Daioh.
Now, after you've done watching both anime, you take a pen and make a coloumn to jot down all the similarities.
S.1 - Lucky star has randomness talk about real life matters. Azumanga Daioh also has a focus on real life matters and randomness.
S.2 - There is no fixed plot in Lucky star. There is no fixed plot in Azumanga Daioh.
S.3 - The genre of Lucky star is mainly comedy, slice of life and random. The genre of Azumanga Daioh is slice of life, random and comedy.
S.4 - In lucky star, characters tend to talk more than they act. In azumanga Daioh, there is constant talking and minimum action.
S.5 - Lucky star is a really good and entertaining show. Azumanga Daioh is amazing as well.
You are done writing, now. Suddenly, you find ONE diffference: Lucky star has a lot of Parody, Aumanga Daioh has none.
When you are going to bed, you think of another similarity, as you dose off to sleep.
S.6 - Both are must-watch anime!
Ah... Youth... Both these anime's represent the wonderful time of high school. Both seemingly having no plot whatsoever, Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star seem to be two puzzle pieces, fitting together. I can almost guarantee that you'll love either of them.
Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are essentially both about the same things, crazy schoolgirls in their everyday life. Both have lovable characters and are crammed full of hilarious moments.
Lucky star and Azumanga Diaoh basically follow the daily lives of japanese high school girls and their antics. If you like one you should like the other.
Both have complete random episodes, not really set to a real story line. Chuckfull of moe schoolgirls and hilarity.
These shows introduce the every day lives of two groups of school girls. The groups have a few similar characters (clumsy girl, cute short girl, etc.). They provide entertainment through situation comedy.
Also, a lots of typical every day situations happen to the characters or they just bring them up in their conversations and in my opinion this is the series greatest comedic feature: the viewer has experienced more than a few of these situations and the to see their exact description is really funny.
If you like a relaxing show which goes absolutely nowhere but still cracks you up everytime something happens, either of these will fulfill your needs. Random comedy between "normal" school students is what both of these are about, and if you liked one, you won't be dissapointed with the other.
Are you a fan of random, scatter-brained comedy? Azumanga Daioh and/or Lucky Star is for you.
Both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are based on the weirdly random lifes of a group of school girls. Neither of the animes feature a strong story line, although auzmnaga daioh does have a small one unlike lucky star, they both feature simular events which occur and both produce hours of random but halerious comedy, They both are great anime's if you like one you will surely love the other, also between them you will notice some common occurences like character simularity- Konata's farther and Mr kimura ect aswell as simular plot schemes, either way they are both worth the great watch.
Both of those Anime have similiar sense of humor and main character. Both gave us fun an very high level. There are both light and you can watch them any time. So go ahead and start watching.
Both are based off a four panel comic and consist of short skits. Lucky Star has more parody than Azumanga Daioh. Azumanga's cast is smaller and has more variety with the looks of the characters. Both have plenty of laughs and are better watched in small doses as opposed to a marathon.
Also, both deal with a group of girls in every day life (mostly school).
Weight obsession, slice-of-life proportions and several similarities in characterization make Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh related to each other. They both cover the daily routines of several female friends working their way through High School and they are both utterly random. Azumanga Daioh has a heavier emphasis on actual comedy than Lucky Star, but if you enjoyed either you're likely to enjoy the other.
Both animes are about a group of girls and the wonders of everyday high school life. Completely random, comedic and crazy! If you love one be sure to check out the other.
They are both school life animes that follow the lifes of school girls. altho i do like Lucky Star better i would recomend you watch both.
Both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are school-based comedies where there are a few girls what draw humour out of typical scenarios such as sleeovers and school lessons. Both are very funny but you have to be in a certain kind of laid-back mindframe to fully enjoy them both.
Although this seems to be a clear choice as it is, I don't think there is more more else to add...
The shows are just so simular, although you could almost class Lucky Star as the Next Gen version of Azumanga.
Both are just Slice of Life Classics.
Both have an almost all female cast of random almost skit like comedic performances based around school. I would reccomend them both for otakus, comedy fans and fans of female casts (no fanservice though)
These are both slice of life anime about few girls from the [almost] same class who live their usual life with fun situations at school or home. Both of these can frighten at first, but if you love good anime - you will love these.
If you enjoyed Lucky Star and haven't watched Azumanga, you're in for a treat. Don't hesitate or question it, just buy Azumanga and know you did the right thing.
Both these anime are based around the same sort of thing. A bunch of school girl, going through school, activities that they get up to in school and outside of school. Both might come under the comedy and random category in a way. Azumanga is about a group of girls in their high school life, Lucky Star is more based around the Otaku Culture. So I think if you liked one, you should like the other.
Honestly, the only difference is that Azumanga Daioh is a bit slower in its pace and a bit more heart-wrenching (Miss Sakaki, anyone?) One could also argue that episodes of Azumanga have actual plots for each episode instead of little vignettes. Still, if you like Lucky Star, you may also find Azumanga Daioh to be your kind of slice of life.
Both are slice of life, school comedies full of bizarre humor about everyday things and following a varied group of fun characters.
The eccentric Suzumiya Haruhi wants nothing more than to meet aliens, time travelers and espers… but she’ll have to settle for the everyday Kyon instead! Along with the mysterious Itsuki and the vacant Mikuru, the duo forms the SOS Brigade – a club whose mission is to discover the mysteries of the world. Armed with a razor sharp wit and a skill for manipulation, Haruhi will stop at nothing to have fun at all costs, even at the expense of Mikuru’s dignity!

If you liked Lucky Star, you'd also like Haruhi because both anime have school fun with a number of allusions to other series.
Lucky Star parodies or alludes to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya on a regular basis. Aya Hirano also voices a main character in both shows.
Cute, smart, and downright strange, Haruhi's character is just as amusing and daring as Konata's.
Just how random can a bunch of people in a high school get? Well, if you thought Haruhi was random, think again. Konata, though opposite of Haruhi, has many friends to get through school with. If you found Haruhi to be an interesting character, you can't go wrong with watching Lucky Star.
Both Lucky Star and Haruhi have received mixed reviews from the general anime fan scene, but, what goes without question is that they are truly perfect for each other. These two series provide real laughing out loud moments to the point where you wonder who may have heard you guffaw at 2 o'clock in the morning. A mix of characters in both series provides you with numerous absurd and wacky scenarios, and a combination of sarcasm, imitation and pure comedy genius moments makes both of these series pure dynamite.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star are anime which have lots of randomness involved to keep the watcher guessing what might happen next. Aya Hirano voices main characters in both giving them a kawaii factor.
Both are a story about the lifestyle of a strange high school girl and her friends. Besides the tons of jokes that may or may not be random, there are plenty of other things that put these two anime apart from the rest. There is the "different" atmosphere and the major emphasis on the female lead's character -- not only character development, but also discovering things about her nature. The stories also can change topics immediately to something else.
As a last note I'd advise people to watch Lucky Star after Suzumiya Haruhi, since there are a lot of references to it in Lucky Star.
Lucky Star parodies heavily on Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu; not only do they share the same female voice lead (seiyuu), but Suzumiya Haruhi shows up more than once in Lucky Star. Lucky Star also looks on anime (and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu) from an otaku point of view. In terms of reasoning you could say Lucky Star is a meta-'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu'.
Honestly, after watching Lucky Star, is there any doubt at all that you must watch Haruhi?, Konata even cosplays Haruhi in one of the chapters. ^^ Anyways, both lead characters of the series are voiced by the same seiyuu (Hirano Aya), and both anime are from the same studio. Although they don't precisely share the same kind of humor (Haruhi is not as random as Lucky Star) they both are very character-oriented series. Furthermore: OBEY KONATA! WATCH HARUHI! OTHERWISE SHE'LL KICK YOUR VIDEO-GAME-ASS.
After watching the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya lucky star got alot funnier, because there are many many references throughout the show, one particularly bland episode becomes very funny because you realise that those strange things that they where doing where all references to haruhi suzumiya. So baicly, don't watch Lucky star without seeing at least one episode of haruhi suzumiya.
If it exist, both series will make fun of it. They're both hilarious, nonsensical, and make you laugh at what's really nothing.
If you are looking for an anime with random humour, eccentricand cynical characters and you have liked one of those anime: Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh, you'll defenitely like the other! I guess it's all about the style! Both of them have ecchi moments and despite having more female characters as the main ones, they are shonen anime that both guys and gals will love!
Practically every episode of Lucky Star seems to make reference to Haruhi, and it's not a surprise considering the similarities of the characters and comedic style; not to mention the involvement of the brilliant Hirano Aya. Even if you just seem to find yourself confused by some of Lucky Star's Haruhi references, that's reason enough to watch this series.
Both anime are very similar on many levels. The main ones being that they both proper Slice of Life animes about school life, in addition both contributing to the Moe and Otaku ways of life. Put it simply if you like general school themed animes then either one will suit you perfectly.
Seeing as Lucky Star consistently rips off Haruhi, and has several of the same voice actors (not to mention cameos from all the main characters of Haruhi), a fan of Haruhi would find Lucky Star an enjoyable ride.
Their created by the same studio and are made in a similar random funny, but still manages to have a plot style. Lucky Star has a few references to Haruhi which we watchers love to search for and point out. Both are adorably cute and great to watch.
Lucky Star is a parody show that often capitalizes on the popularity of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (both shows were created by the same studio) as the former is full of references to the latter. They are very similar in terms of humour and premise; Lucky Star seems as though it is aimed partially at The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya fans.
If you have only seen Lucky Star, you would understand a lot more of the references the series makes if you were to watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Both light hearted (for the most part) comedy slice of life shows.
Share most of the voice cast and the Lead Lucky Star character constantly references Haruhi.
Whether you want to get the references origin or want to see the references for a show you've watched, its all good.
Not only are each of these anime produced by the same company, but they both are slice of lives with crazy humor. Also, a main character is voiced by the same artist in each. Finally, Lucky star has many allusions directly to The Melancholy that anyone that has seen both would greatly appreciate.
Both series have their random moments and alot of comedy. But Melancholy of haruhi has more of a story line to it instead of lucky star has no real plot. Both are amazing so if you like one you will like the other.
Both have one moe character (Miyuki and Mikuru) the enthusiastic (Konata and Haruhi) and the shy one (Minami and Yuki). The anime alludes to the school life and comedy. If you want watch these anime, I recommend watch first Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu, to understand the parodies in Lucky Star about this anime.
Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya have very simialar humor. Also Aya Hirano voice the main characters in both series. Lucky Star also has several references to Melancholy of Haruhi. If you liked one, you should check out the other.
Watching one of these will ensure if you loved one then you'll love the other. Both main characters (haruhi-Haruhi, and Konata-Lucky Star) are exciting and do things their way. Lucky Star also refrences Haruhi frequently as an added bounus!
Watch TMOHS before lucky star to understand lucky star better plus the melancholy of haruhi no suzumiya is an awesome anime thats in my top 5.
Both have a very energetic character & both have pecular characters. Anyone would bve able 2 enjoy these animes . :)
Both are really funny anime that were made by KyoAni! Lucky Star has also referenced Haruhi more than once.
Both have a similar upbeat fun feel to them.
Furthermore they were made by the same people, so some themes repeat between them and Lucky Star contains plenty of references to Haruhi.
It's the first day of high school, and plenty of school clubs are doing their best to recruit new members, but for ditzy Yui, none of them seem to fit the bill. However, when she accidentally signs up to join the light music club, Yui begins a hilarious adventure to become a world class guitarist! There's just one problem: she's never played the guitar before in her life! Joined by bassist Mio, drummer Ritsu and keyboardist Tsumugi, Yui and the gang will juggle their studies with buying instruments, learning how to read music and even performing in the school festival, all in the hopes of someday becoming a successful band!
I really, really hated Lucky Star, but I still think it fits very well with K-on. both follow the slice of life antics of some girls with extremely similar animation. If you liked one, definitely try out the other (though Lucky Star really does seem to be hit or miss)
As both anime focus on the everyday life of a group of schoolkids, K-On! has a more continues storyline whereas Lucky Star is just a series of short jokes. This means you will see less jokes in K-On!, but the type of humor is the same. Thus I think that if you liked one, you will most likely like the other one too.
Both of these shows centers on a group of high school girls. They go through life everyday doing many things such as going to see a doctor, practicing for an upcoming concert, or just trying to do your homework and pass the test.
K-On! and Lucky Star are two slice of life shows I'd consider on opposite sides of the spectrum. Lucky Star has pretty much no plot at all and K-On! on the other hand has more than the typical slice of life show. Though the similarites between the girls and the brand of humor (minus all the parody) make it an obvious recommendation.
Let's see... They are both characters who can be either extremely moe or very angry in exceedingly similar ways. Their actions will make you fall out your chair laughing and some of the plot just grabs your attention. Both are centered around the friendship of 4 characters. While K-on's is a fresh start because of the club, they all develope a hilarious relationship with one another like in Lucky Star. If you liked either one, you must give the other a watch.
Both Lucky Star and K-On! are slice-of-life animes about four main girls plus some other girls on the side. While Lucky Star has otaku references (video games, anime, etc.), K-On! has rock references (rock music, guitar, bass, drums, etc.). They are both entertaining and have their own unique comedic values. If you liked one, you most likely will like the either. Also, they are both made by Kyoto Animation.
Same theme, school girl group does weird stuff. Made by the same people and it shows on a positive note. If you like one, you'll love the other :)
School-girl slice of life comedy shows. Both end in a climatic performance in the final episode and both take a completely irrelevant but amusing route to get there. Both focus more on the quirky relationships than any overriding plot.
Both series feature a group of happy-go-lucky girls going through an average high school life (but with no boys present usually). Though K-ON!'s color styling is much better, it also has some similarities to Lucky Star that I can't put my finger on, but I can definitely feel a resemblance. They both are pretty random and have some pretty funny moments, so if you enjoyed one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.
Lucky Star and K-On are very similar, they are two sides of the same coin. The characters are pretty similar, although the K-On girls feel more like some of the secondary characters from Lucky Star than the main 4. Essentially, Lucky Star is about Anime and Japan culture and K-On is about music and Japanese High School, besides these plot changes, if you like one, chances are good you'll like the other.
Each of these series are slice of life, set in high-school, and focus around high school girls. They also both have similar animation styles and similar humor (Although, because Lucky Star is more episodic, it has more humor and less of a central story arch).
Both Lucky Star and K-On! feature very similar main characters during their young school lives. The style of comedy is very similar while the main storylines may be different. If you like one you will surely enjoy the other.
Both have a 4 Main Characters that are good Friends! The characters are really alike as well. Both have the Same Comedy.
both are very funny and have simular light hearted feels to them, and they are both very good.
I prefer K-On! to Lucky Star by far, as it has more of a plot, but Lucky Star is still worth recommending. They have rather similar animation, they are based around young girls in their school life and have a high level of comedy. If you have seen one and liked it, it would surely be worth checking out the other.
Though it's main character isn't an anime/manga Otaku. It's about an airheaded girl who finds love in light music (Though I don't really consider it "light"). But It has the same laid back, "no real plot line" tendency as Lucky Star.
Both of these are about high school girls, who become good friends after meeting each other in high school. they both have very touching moments, and also are very humorous.
K-on and Lucky Star are both very light comedys involving adorable girls in a group doing their adorable things.
Both of these anime are of similar styles. They both are about day-to-day interaction between the characters and less about a story. If you liked one of these you have a good chance of liking the other.
Both of these shows have a very laid back feel about them, and don't really focus about the matter in hand (Lucky Star doesn't focus that much about working hard at school; K-On! doesn't focus very much at music) Both of them you have to be in a laid-back frame of mind to really fully appreciate too.
Both K-on! and Lucky star are about a group of high school girls that are all great friends who trust each other, have fun together, have lunch together and even study together. Both these animes have a very similar kind of comedy, another one of their similaritiesis that both have a good sense of randomness throught the episodes.(there will be times when you're laufhting and you dont really know why)
So, I think if you loved one your definetly going to love the other.
School, teenage girls, moe, comedy, and a hook to keep the plot going. K-on! has the Light music club, and Lucky Star to a lesser degree has Konata and her Anime, gaming interests. Both are cheerful. Check the other out.
Both are slice-of-life comedies with plenty of moe, which focuses the plot on a theme (music/the life of otaku)
funny, slice of life, great laugh, make you wanted to see the next episode more and more, no boring moment, make you go whaaa? in the middle of episode
i am telling you if you liked lucky star you will love k on i enjoyed the music in k on both anime have a rich nice girl and both have a ditzy girl both have school girl life and both of them even have a manga lover in it
In slice of life style, Lucky Star and K-On both focus on cute girls at school. Lucky Star has been described as a "baby anime", and perhaps the same could be said of K-On in that it is a good starter anime, however Lucky Star almost entirely skips out on plot, opting instead for the mundane punctuated with anime references, whereas K-On aims for a steady progression of friendship and life events.
I like both of these shows because both show the day-to-day antics of four schoolgirls, although in K-On, it later changed to five. But the difference is that K-On is a normal show with less jokes that you would normally see in Lucky Star. The latter, however, is a slice-of-life that mainly has a lot of jokes and puns in it. I still recommend both shows because K-On is really cute and fun to watch, and Lucky Star is really funny, funny enough to trigger your funny bone.
Yuuko, Mio and Mai are regular high school girls who lead a normal everyday life. However, with bizarre explosions causing random objects to rain down on their heads, lunch turning into an epic battle between girl and wiener, and students riding to school on goats, their lives are anything but ordinary. Meanwhile android Nano spends her days wishing she were a normal human, but keeping house for her creator, the playful and immature child genius Hakase, dealing with talking cat Sakamoto, and trying to keep a hold of her multitude of easily-detachable body parts, her dream is far from a reality...

Like cute schoolgirls doing everyday things with a good dose of comedy? Then you'll likely enjoy both Nichijou and Lucky Star. While Nichijou is a little more random, they both have a similar style of humour.
Both shows are comedies about the lives of a bunch of cute moé girls. And both shows have a similar visual style. Also both shows are make by KyotoAnimation. If you like one you should watch the other.
Both are about a group of students that attend the same school and do nothing but goof off more than half the time. Lucky Star has more parody to it than Nichijou but both are sure to make you laugh at these cute girls doing adorable things.
Both Nichijou and Lucky Star are comedy anime about school girls. Lucky Star may be a bit more moe, but Nichijou tends to be a bit... weirder, and crazier than Lucky star. If you liked one, you'll probably like the other.
Both titles focus on moe girls in a slice of life school setting without inducing sleep. Both anime seem ordinary but as you watch it it gets more interesting than you may think. The kind of comedy used is not too different, either.
Nichijou and Lucky Star has a lot of things common to each other. Some character wants to be a mangaka in both of the anime. One not doing homeworks and likes. And both are cute.
First except for the fact that both animes are based on everyday life of school girls and made by Kyoto Animation everything else is different from the graphics style and their life style and I would never tell that Nichijou has taken incentive from Lucky Star, There ain't anything about okatu Cult or Moe in Nichijou, With compared to Lucky Star I think Nichjou is in a whole new level but they both are "must watch" for comedy genre fans xD
They are both hilarlious and made me laugh so much!! They both don't really have a story line and is made up of random clips.
Lucky star is Nichijou but instead of absurdism, it just forgot to take its adhd meds and started referencing haruhi a lot.
The mundane turns comedic. The comedic effect is heightened by the mundane. Like Seinfeld, these are "shows about nothing", and timeless. I give Nichijou the edge in art style, comedy, and plot, but both are good. More people will probably know of and have watched Lucky Star.
They have a simlilar artstyle and they are from the same studio. You will laugh with both of them. They are good comedies.
Nichijou and Lucky Star both feature cute girls doing cute things. More specifically, the characters have daily adventures at school, at each other's homes, or around the neighborhood. The anime are episodic, full of slice-of-life, and comedy.
If you like one, I think you'll enjoy the other.
Silly fun with the girlies! Both shows are about kids just hanging out and having fun. They're both slice of life comedies and if you like one of them, there isn't really any reason not to check the other out.
Both involve schoolgirls enriching their mundane lives with various out of this world antics. We can all relate in our youth.
Everyone has a circle of friends they hang out with. But even within a small group there are smaller groups of friends, best friends and, here's where it gets complicated, boyfriends and girlfriends. Sometimes relationships just develop in a way where you're not exactly sure what you are to the other person. Which is the problem Tsukimi has when it comes to Io: he seems to be totally clueless about how she's starting to feel. It's a puzzle she'll have to solve in Place to Place.

Basically the same slice of life comedy genre, Lucky Star is like an anime representing the otaku-ness/stereotypes of Japan, while Acchi Kocchi is about love.... i guess? They both give the same feel of ordinary everyday highschool life. Even in the mangas theyre both 4-koma "comic strips". The characters are also kinda similar, but Acchi Kocchi actually has GUYS and also more characters. I liked Lucky STar better prob cuz Im an otaku~ >:) It wouldnt hurt to watch any of them~
Both are chibi and very random. They bth have a cute sense or humor and are very cute. I recomend you watch it.
Both have a simular atmosphere where the watcher can enjoy a short story in a calm environment with a warm feeling.
Take Lucky Star, introduce male characters, add a hint of romance, but reduce the amount of otaku jokes and you'll get Acchi Kocchi. Sounds fun? If so, give Acchi Kocchi a go.
Warrning: Dangerously moe.
Both Lucky Star and Acchi Kocchi are relaxing animes, although they don't have big detailed plots or cliffhangers they have a calm feeling to them and are enjoyable to watch. If you like one you are bound to like the other!
Both Lucky Star and Acchi Kocchi are random comedy anime with similar art styles. Acchi Kocchi doesn't have anime references in it and Lucky Star doesn't have romance in it, but other than that they have a very similar style of comedy.
Acchi Kocchi and Lucky Star are quite alike in several ways, now though true lucky star has no direction on how it moves whilst Acchi Kocchi does keep within reason between each scene this actually makes little difference.
Both of slice of life comedy and both score big here, Acchi Kocchi is a little more focused on romance whilst lucky star is Otaku culture but they both give the same feeling.
If you fansy a slice of life comedy just for some cute feels and jokes then im sure they both will appeal, if you liked one i strongly suggest giving the other a shot.
i thought lucky star when i saw acchi kocchi. It was a little less random though. And had a little romance.
The animations, the feels, character design, are all the same...it's just a Lucky star with romance :) Plus, it also has the feels that Lucky star lacks- the Valentine Day eps, the winter season eps, and that cute romance...Also, The MC (Tsumiki) looks a lot like Konata and Hime (a side character) is a spitting image of Tsukasa...(Bonus trivia: both have the same voice actor) .
Both are slice of life shows that are mainly episodic. The art styles are similar in terms of cuteness, colors and simplicity. The MCs are both unique in appearance and lovable in their own unique ways.
It is a unplotted comedy series. With characters of different personality types meshing together beautifully.
Both about a group of students and the events that happen in their highschool life. Not a very plot or "actiony" series so its nice for a slow day or if you just want to chill or relax.
Both anime are 2000´s (ish) anime with the same type of humor. Nothing really happens in neither of them, just highschoolers being highschoolers.Acchi Kocchi is more romance oriented, while lucky star doesn't.
Probably they are both similar since their mangas are 4-koma and started around the same time era.
Ahh, the life of an elementary school student. Though Chika, Matsuri, Miu and Ana should focus on schoolwork, they’d much rather have fun instead. Whether it’s outings with 20-year-old-chain-smoker Noboe, holding each other hostage or learning to speak English with Ana’s foreign-born skills, there’s never a dull moment in the life of the girls. Join this cute quartet as they do cute (and often devious) things in cute and quirky ways!

These anime are set in the modern world, where children can wander as much as they like and stir up some weird and creative situations. Are you looking for something super cute but less high school girlish than Lucky Star? Then Strawberry Marshmallow would suit you.
What makes Lucky Star and Strawberry Marshmallow similar and likable is their slice of life style of comedy and stories that revolve around four girls with very distinct personalities. Also, both have a designated troublemaker who is the cause of most of the jokes.
These animes are about girls whos having fun from normal day. I think in both there is similar humour. Jokes and other things. I think Konata[from Lucky Star] is like Miu[from Ichigo Mashimaro].
Loads of randomness, cute girls being themselves, lovely characters design... If you like moe, these are good enough
Hilariousity at it's max! Fun and laughter are the key in both of these great pieces, although, comparing to Lucky Star, Strawberry Marshmallow is toned down a little for those of you who prefer a little less hyped series. The main idea is to just to have fun and enjoy life with a smile on your face. If you'd like that, try watching these.
Silly, cute and a bit odd at times are good ways to describe the humor of these anime, which they both pull of great.
They're both really about the random things in life that are actually pretty interesting. Both really cute to boot xD
Both series are about a bunch of average girls living their normal lives. Both Lucky Star and Strawberry Marshmallow are toned down and slow paced, but both manage to be hilarious!
These shows are about the same plotless, eventless, random stuff that a group of girls tend to do. If you are into that kind of thing, you should definitely watch one if you saw the other.
Same characters and humor. LS is a little more 'random' and makes way more self-aware, insider anime jokes, but overall if you like one you'll like the other.
Another cute girls do cute stuff recommendation but both follow the same format, they are about little sketch-like scenes where the girls in the series do stuff. The characters are similar and the purpose is also quite similar, but other than that there isn't too much to say. So I recommend if you enjoyed one then you might want to check out the other.
Has the same cutness vibes as eatchother, although id say strawberry marshmellow is more lenent towords atount humur, but not by much tho

Both Lucky Star and Paniponi Dash! are full of meta-humor, in-jokes, subculture references and clever jabs at the real people who make and watch anime. Every single episode of both shows is packed with so many references that it is practically impossible to keep track of them. So if you like the humor and in-jokes in one of them, it's a fair bet that you will like the other, as well. Besides... "you are already dead."
Both Lucky Star and Paniponi Dash focus on a large group of high school girls and have very loose, random humor. Both also have a wide range of personalities among the characters and a large amount of anime references and parodies.
Complete and utter nonsense in your "average" high school day is all I have to say. Both skip around a bunch of high school girls (and sometimes the occassional guy) and their crazy antics with plenty of cameos and otaku references abound.
Both series are wacky and makes a lot of parodic references to popular culture. Both are also without any real storyline, whilst including many stereotypical characters.
Both have the same "in school" comedy effect. The jokes are similar. Both involve absolutely adorable girls. I really don't see how you can one and not the other.
Both Lucky Star and Paniponi Dash are easy watching series packed with humour. Both series follow the exploits of a group of high school students and what they get up to in their lives. Whilst the exploits of the students in Paniponi Dash are far more insane than the comparatively mundane activities of those in Lucky Star, both series are also packed with various cultural and otaku references. If you liked one of these series, try the other one out.
Hee hee hee hee :3. These animes are the best. Set in highschools they are two of my favorites and I'll love the characters in em forever. They are both garanteed to make you laugh unless your dead inside. And how could that be you anime loving freak. So hop on the mystical train of laughter and moe. In other words be sure to watch. :3 Also the more of an otaku you are the more you'll enjoy both cause they make tons of references to stuff. Especially Paniponi Dash.
Paniponi Dash! and Lucky Star are quirky, funny and cute school-centered shows that are surely entertaining for all comedy fans. Parody is also a key element in both series, and if you enjoy finding not-so-subtle references to other shows or cultural phenomena in anime shows, these two titles are definitely for you.
If you liked PaniPoni Dash! or Lucky Star you'd like them both because both of them are parody based on humor of absurd. Also both of them are drawn in a very bright colours which is so good to bring your mood up especially at cold and dark autumn or winter days.
If you enjoyed either Paniponi Dash! or Lucky Star, you will certainly enjoy the other. Lucky Star and Paniponi Dash! are both parodic anime with references running in all different directions. If you are a huge otaku and know every which thing about Japan or it's anime and games, both of these series would be great to look at. Like most anime these days, the main protaganists are girls, each having their own unique characteristic making all of them lovable and always fun. Another good thing about these series are that they don't have any real plot, it's just here to entertain you with random jokes, references, or those moments where you go 'Oh, I know what you mean!'. I highly recommend these two anime series, Lucky Star and Paniponi Dash! if you enjoyed the other. Even if you haven't watched either, it's never too late to watch them now.
Both of these are fairly eccentric yet quite simple stories of girls in high school. Both are very funny and laid back. The art styles in both of them is fairly simplistic too.
Ever wanted to join an anime club but felt its geekiness would hurt your reputation? Sasahara feels your pain. Genshiken, the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture, is an organization of college otaku obsessed with anime, manga and video games. Their daily activities include holding impromptu cosplay photo shoots, braving the crowds and avoiding injury at doujinshi conventions, and tolerating harassment by Saki, a girl irked by her boyfriend's otaku-ness! It's a perfect match for Sasahara's interests, so why is it so difficult for him to join?

Both shows have a fair amount of content concerning Japanese otaku culture and the tendencies of its members, which many anime fans can relate to on some level or another.
When reading the concepts behind these two anime, the very first thing you may think is that they are copies. Both shows do their best to provide us with a lovable and funny anime about the otaku lifestyle, yet there are still quite a few differences. Lucky Star is more of a parody, which will require more knowledge from the viewer in order to understand the jokes. Genshiken is more accessible since it is wackier. Nonetheless, both series provide top notch humor which can easily make you laugh.
Both series portray the daily life of a group of friends in modern Japan. While Genshiken is slightly more realistic, and Lucky Star features more Chibi-style and cuter characters, both shows are parodies of today's otaku world.
Note that they are pretty much plotless and features little to no character development, but both shows have their share of references to other mainstream products of the otaku industry.
If you liked the episodic comedy style of any of these two shows, you'll most likely like the other as well!
Lucky Star is riddled with references to anime, manga, and otaku culture in general; if you're someone who tends to pick up on these jokes, the similarily otaku-heavy Genshiken is something you'll definitely enjoy.
Besides being some of the most humorous Anime shows available, Lucky Star and Genshiken both focus on the Otaku experience, make similar references, and poke fun at themselves.
Whether you sympathize with Saki-Chan or Kagami putting up with an Otaku in their midst, or laugh out loud at Madarame or Konata's father's innapropriate comments, you'll find something for everyone.
Otaku Party! Genshiken and Lucky Star are full of insider jokes, only anime and videogame fans would understand. So, if you are an Otaku, I bet you would enjoy both anime series, and if you aren't, be sure to watch this one anyway - after all, you liked the other one, no?
Not only does both Lucky Star and Genshiken focus on many otaku themes, they also are both slice of life comedy shows with many reacurring things although looked at from different perspective. In Genshiken the non-otaku characters are the odd ones out, while reversed in Lucky Star whichi in turn makes it refreshing to watch both instead of just wanting more of one.
Both these shows involve quite a bit of japanese 'otaku' culture, from anime and manga to conventions and cosplay. Perfect anime for any otaku!
These anime have very different kinds of characters, different animation style and most of the time different kind of humor, plus Genshiken is a much more realistic anime.
But what links them together are their refferals and jokes about otaku culture.
Genshiken is basicly only about otakus while Lucky Star feature many other kinds of stories and jokes, but if you enjoy comedy about otaku culture and like either of these anime, try the other.

Lucky Star and Hayate the Combat Butler have very similar styles of comedy. Both feature an "otaku" character (Lucky Star's Konata and Hayate's Nagi), and each episode contains references to other anime, manga, or games. Both also have a lot of non sequiturs in the sequence of events. Lucky Star does this a bit more than Hayate; once one little gag has passed, the story will sometimes suddenly shift to the next without a transition in between. However, Hayate is not without its own sudden shifts, mostly due to strange things that suddenly happen, robots that inexplicably appear, etc. Both will keep you on your toes! The animation is also very similar, and both focus around school-age kids. Overall, I find the two series to be extremely alike, so if you like one, you should absolutely check out the other.
Both Hayate and Lucky Star provide a lot of references in every episode to other random anime shows like Gundam, Haruhi, Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball. You will not be disappointed with the random jokes if you like anime with no real plotline to follow.
Both heavily parodies other animes (though lucky star more focusing on past kyo-ani works, hayate more shounen and past voice works of the characters). Both females leads are anime/manga otakus and posess the similar quasi-lolli qualities. Both series further have the range of moe female characters (where they are actually likeable and not completely bland).
Hayate is a bit more plot based than Lucky Star, and is probably more accessible than Lucky Star which feels more (male) otaku-centric.
Both of these anime are fairly episodic, making many references to other anime, sharing similar humor, and are episodic in nature (Although Lucky Star is more episodic). Each of these series also has a main character that is a NEET and in the otaku culture (Nagi and Konata).
Lucky Star and Hayate the Combat Butler are perfect tests for a viewer's knowledge of otaku culture. Both have similar styles of hilarious comedy and do a great job creating humor out of subverting standard anime tropes.
The random humor in both shows is very similar. Both parody other anime (a lot). Both feature the same kind of characters(otaku, airhead, you know the drill). If you liked one, it's worth checking out the other.
Both series contain a lot of references to other anime/manga. The female leads in both series are huge otakus. Also both series are essentially about nothing, but both contain some great humor.
Hayate and Lucky star have many things common.
The female lead in both anime are otaku. And they tend to have a wacky sense about Japanese culture. In this case lucky Star is better.
Both have references to other anime and manga. Mixing other anime's elements to provide some moments of laughter. Hayate has upperhand at this point.
The diffrence is that, Hayate has a romantic comedy vibe in it, while lucky star tends to be slice of life/school life.
Hayate no Gotoku! borrows a lot of elements from different series and Lucky Star is one of them. Nagi from HnG and Konata from LS are somewhat similar, but not only them. You can find a number of characters that behave or\and looks like one of the characters from LS, among the huge cast of HnG. Both of those shows are random comedies and neat parodies, so if you like such shows, those titles are a must watch.
Meet the Minami sisters, three girls living on their own and doing their best to make it through life's little snags and adventures. Kana, the middle sister, has far more energy than common sense; Chiaki, the youngest, is more reserved, but her sharp tongue and devious mind often cause trouble for others; and Haruka, the eldest, acts like a mother to the other two, is beautiful and kind, but has a fearsome stern streak. Together, no obstacle can stand in their way, be it school, romance, or even cooking.

Both Minami-ke and Lucky Star possess the slice-of-life quality and are separated into several vignettes per episode. Both anime also ponder humorous and trivial questions that will leave their viewers laughing.
Both anime tell a simple "day by day" story about young gils, and how they spend their time!
It's really funny and enjoyable!
Minami-ke and Lucky Star are slice-of-life comedies based around the everyday lives of the lead girls. Both series turn the normal and usually-forgettable into topics of random hilarity and will remind you of real life situations where the smallest of questions have conjured hugely amusing discussions. These two series never take themselves too seriously, try to be overly funny, nor are they above making fun of themselves. The result is an easy-going and easier-to-enjoy collection of short plotlines where the viewer can pick up and enjoy from any episode. The humour is lighthearted but often heartwarming and reminds you that even the ordinary can be hilariously fun.
Lucky Star and Minami-Ke both revolve around young female characters who are currently attending school. With this these anime are both very episodic in nature and tend to not share much from episode to episode. Since they are both Slice-of-life anime this makes them even more in common since you experience there lives from day to day. With all the similarities, not including the storyline, it makes it hard to not enjoy one if the other was enjoyed. So if you enjoyed one then check out the other, I'm sure you will be satisfied.
Both of these anime are very easy watching series with a good dose of humour. Neither series has much in the way of plot, they are just fun slice-of life series that are brilliant if you want to relax without having to concentrate on the story. If you like one series, give the other a chance.
Minami-ke and Lucky Star are similar in many aspects. The most notable of these are: un-structured story, mostly female cast, slice of life, an eccentric and odd main character, and short re-occuring jokes. Both suffer from odd beggining episodes but quickly become addictive once you get to know the characters.
Both Minami-ke and Lucky Star feature an energetic cast of characters going about life in a hilarious way, sharing the same kind of humor and structure. They don't have any absolute plot, but are rather entertaining episodic series that leave a generally upbeat and joyful impression.
Both are great slice of life animes, while they have fairly different art styles and characters, both are always fun to watch.
