Sawako Kuronuma is just like any other high school girl who wants to make friends and be useful. The only problem is she bears a worrying resemblance to Sadako from 'The Ring!' Because of her reputation, people are not only terrified of her, but small dogs even bark in fear at her presence; in fact, the only person in school who will talk to her is the lively class hottie, Kazehaya. As the pair spends more time together, Kazehaya slowly begins to bring Sawako out of her shell and soon their feelings for each other develop further. Though with her crippling insecurities, lack of social skills, and a series of cruel rumors and misunderstandings, it seems that Sawako's dream of a normal life won’t be quite so easy to obtain.
Two cutest stories about love and friendship. Both the main characters - Risa and Sawako - has their problems and friends helping them to overcome it all.
I can say a lot, but definitely, If you watch one anime you'd like the other.
Both Kimi Ni Todoke and Lovely complex are sweet stories centered around coming of age romances. The sentimentality and use of "misunderstandings" as a plot device is central to both shows. While Lovely Complex has a little more comedy and Kimi ni Todoke is more of a drama both shows aim to pull at the same heartstrings while exploring the trials of understanding one's own heart. If you liked either of these shows you probably would enjoy the other.
If a super sweet high school romance is what you are looking for, you will not go wrong by watching either Kimi Ni Todoke or Lovely Complex. Both have that innocence that is so a part of what we all remember of our first love. That same innocence that seems to conquer all adversities. Both excellent, both romantic, both endearing. Watch them both!
Both anime are a dynamic of what can happen if budding friendship can take a turn to love interests. With either parties being unsure of the others feelings If you liked one you'd be sure to enjoy the other.
Though Kimi ni Todoke has a little more drame than Lovely Complex both series a still major comedies that use their comedy to help keep things lively and from becoming to burden with drama. They both are still nonetheless heart-warming love stories about a guy and a girl in high school as they come to understand love. If you liked one then you should definitely check out the other.
I loved both of these series' for the same reason. They are both stories based around the eventual romantic relationship between two people that are very different in other people's opinions.
In Kimi ni Todoke Its the tipical (though still great) Unpopular, shy girl gets popular guy. Lovely Complex is about a taller then average girl and a shorter then average guy. They have a lot in common and are really funny together, but that funnyness makes a romantic relationship hard to imagine and there hight detears them as well.
Both use misunderstandings and rivalreys as plot divises. Both are really great shows. They have to be my favorite romance anime's of all time. If you like one your shure to like the other.
They both have an insecure main character, with issues of selfesteem. Both have alot of similarities regarding love situation, trouble with looks and selfawareness. Feelings that makes the main characters move you and feel for them the whole way!
Both animes do very well in mixing humour elements in moderation (with Lovely Complex more inclined to humour, though), helping create a nice atmosphere around the plot. They both have a strong focus on friendship and lovely love stories.
this is the cutest thing i have ever seen in my life. no joke. if you liked this, you'll like lovely complex. and vice versa.
Momo is loud, shallow, a player, a betrayer, and one to best stay away from -- or at least, that's the misconception people have when they see her makeup, bleached hair and suntanned skin. In reality, Momo just wants the same friends, hobbies and crushes any girl her age would like. However, when her only friend starts spreading rumours about her, her boyfriend starts to doubt her, and the most popular boy in school starts to take a more then friendly interest in her, she'll have much more to worry about than just her appearance!
Peach Girl and Lovely Complex have a very realistic (yet romantic) story. You can't wait to watch the next episode! They are very emotional, and I did cry a few times; but seriously, these anime are really funny and will melt your heart. If I wasn't the kind of person who treasures anime only once, I'd definitely watch them again!
I pondered for a while which anime I thought Lovely Complex was similar to... and overall, I've come to the conclusion that it's so unique compared to (all 40-ish) anime I've seen.
But still, I give my recommendation to Peach Girl. For several reasons but probably the most important would be it's plot and drama aspects. Both are eventful and always leave you on your feet, making you watch the next ep one another another. Both have relationships that are actually genuine and you can tell that they're not fake and created just for love triangles,
I definitely recommend Peach Girl next if you loved the heart-renching problems of being a couple and finally being happy.
Peach Girl and Lovely Complex don't exactly have the same story, but they are both really good. Peach Girl is about a girl who tries to cope with a fake best friend, a boy she's had a crush on since junior high, and another boy who she finds perverted, yet hilarious. It involves love triangles, loads of comedy, and romance, similar to Lovely Complex. I definitely reccommend this.
Both Peach Girl and Lovely Complex focus on a tall, strong, red haired girl who is ridiculed for being different from her peers. They also both focus on friendship, love, and coming of age.
While Lovely Complex lacks the love-triangle aspect, the relationship between the hero and heroine is almost identicle to that of Peach Girl's in that the two are almost pushed together and initially can not stand one another.
Both have very likeable characters. For me, it took awhile to get used to the artwork for Lovely Complex as it was not as shoujo as I typically prefer, however; the storyline if very moving and you as a watcher become quite invested in the success of the relationship of the main characters
Lovely Complex and Peach Girl are shoujo orientated shows which deliver tasteful comedy moments, teary melodrama and lost of sweet scenes. Both focus on relationships that involve friends, lovers and even antagonists. The main characters are also pretty similar, while Risa has a complex about her unusual high height for a girl, Momo has a complex regarding her tanned skin that she gained from swimming. If you enjoyed one, you will definitely like the other as well.
Both of these shoujo anime deal with highschool romance. In both of them, the love begins one sided, with peach girl, it's the male lead who chases after momo persistantly, and with Love*Com, it's the female who repeatedly pursues the male, despite his constant rejections. Both have a lot of drama and painful moments and both keep you guessing til nearly the end if they will or won't get together. Both anime also feature strong friendship as a central theme, it's a love forged from friendship, and a slow growing love. Both have excellent character development and you can really watch how the cast grows, changes, and "comes of age" as they struggle through feelings of love and loss.
Nakahara Sunako, a high school girl whose interests include horror movies, coffins and gore, is sent by her aunt to live in an extravagant mansion with four ridiculously handsome boys. As if living with these “radiant creatures” who give her constant nosebleeds isn’t hard enough, she soon discovers that the boys have made a bet with her aunt: in exchange for free rent, they will try to mold Sunako into a magnificent lady. As someone who has cast aside all her femininity and sworn to live in darkness, Sunako is ready to do whatever it takes to nullify these efforts; but is there a way for the creatures of darkness and light to coexist?
The themes of YNSH and Lovely Complex are similar (love and acceptance), even if the plots are not. Both are quite amusing as well.
Even though the plots are different, both Lovely Complex and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge are very fun to watch. While the plots are different, they both deal with the ups and downs that occur when you have girls in your life. If you liked one I think you would like the other.
Lovely Complex and Yamato have many similar features. They are funny and hilarious with not that much romance (just hints of it). I highly recommend both.
Lovely Complex is a romance comedy as well! :) There is also a fairly important moral to this story as well as the one taught from Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.
Its super funny! And both the main characters in Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Pretty girl evolution) and Lovely complex have to overcome their self-conciousness
Tenma Tsukamoto is young, bright, and smitten with the school hottie Oji Karasuma. She's desperate for his attention, which is unfortunate considering he barely gives her the time of day! Throw Kenji Harima, the school delinquent with a crush on Tenma into the mix and you've got one twisted love triangle of unrequited proportions! Can love find the trio happiness before their attention-grabbing stunts end up hurting more than their egos?
If LC's light hearted humor was your reason for watching until the end, you may like School Rumble, a similar slice of life/high school comedy genre anime. Both share that same easygoing feel, guaranteed to at least make you chuckle.
Love isn't always easy - especially in high school. Gear up for the crazy antics of lovestruck teens with the fighting spirit to win the ones they want in Lovely Complex and School Rumble. No heartbreak is too great, and no opponent is too strong/beautiful to stop these hysterical characters from their pursuit of the ultimate high school romance.
Lovely Complex is a hilarious anime which also shows us the romantic situations and problems of two teenagers, Otani and Koizumi. School Rumble is also a teenage anime but is not centered around the romance of two people. It shows us how complicated things can be in the lives of 16 year olds as far as both romantic relationships and friendships are concerned. In both anime we see the efforts the characters put in order to confess their love, decide their future and preserve their friendships. Therefore, I utterly believe that if you liked one of these anime you will surely like the other as well!
Lovely Complex and School Rumble are both romance comedies that take place in high school. Both anime feature a slowly developing relationship. Also School Rumble has this joke-killing drama at times and love polygons, while Lovely Complex never gets strong at drama and barely contains any love triangles. If you're into romance comedies then you should definitely watch those two, since they are quite hilarious most of the time.
Each of these series are mostly comedy but have a decent amount of romance going on. While in a school situation, a lot of misunderstandings and failed attempts at love happen, making these series go well together.
Nana Komatsu is on her way to Tokyo; now she can finally be with her boyfriend after a year of dating long-distance! On the train there, Nana Komatsu meets Nana Osaki – a girl who shares her name but seems to be everything Nana Komatsu is not; cool, street-wise, and a punk rocker. The two hit it off and spend the entire journey getting to know each other, but when they get to Tokyo, circumstance separates them seemingly forever. However, fate is not finished with these two. Whilst hunting for a place to live the two Nanas again cross paths. They decide to share a flat and become best friends in no time. Nana K. must learn to be independent and mature, while Nana O. works on becoming famous with her band; but together, they will learn about love and loss, and the growth that comes with it.
Nana and Lovely Complex skillfully deal with the transition from life inside of to out of school. They efficiently mix warm and hilarious comedy with heart-wrenching drama to create pathos that further draws the view into the lives and relationships of the characters. The art style also rounds up the similarites between the three; the only major differences arising from the color palette.
Crazy, unpredictable, many unexpected changes of action, love irresolutions... if you liked that stuff in one of these two series, you should find them in another too :)
Since starting Lovely Complex, I have been itching to make this recommendation.
Nana quickly became one of my favourite shows, and I thought nothing would be able to touch it on the high pedestal. Boy, was I wrong.
LoveCom is exactly what it says on the tin. A healthy dose of love and comedy, just like the first half of Nana. Both shows will have you extremely frustrated, waiting for that lightning bolt of realisation to hit the characters and make them confess their true feelings. The frustration will keep you coming back for more, wanting that romance to unfold.
If you enjoy a good tv soap, then I think you will enjoy both of these shows immensely.
Lovely Complex and Nana have similar styles of humor and drama. Altough they have different settings, the overall feel of both anime are similar.
Apart from a lot of similar character designs, these series both have a nice balance of comedy, drama, and romance. A large amount of confusion about love happens in these series. Especially if you want the highschool version of Nana or the older version of Nana, these series go together quite well.
