With both Fruits Basket and Loveless you will find that the humans have animal characteristics-although Fruits Basket's case it's just the Sohma family members whereas in Loveless all humans are animalistic.

Anyways, they both have dramatic themes that are lightened by comedy. Loveless is a little more heavy with the drama than Fruits Basket, though. Also, in both series the characters are equally compelling and make you actually genuinely care for almost all the cast.

Hotori: Tada Saiwai o Koinegau

Hotori: Tada Saiwai o Koinegau

A young boy named Ryo perished in an accident long ago, and at his parents’ wishes he lives on through an android named Suzu. He must regularly have Ryu’s memories artificially injected into him, and undergo a series of tests at the personality plant he resides at. During a session testing his motor movements, Suzu loses a baseball inside another building and goes exploring; there, he meets a young girl of the same age named Hotori. Though Suzu is an android, he still is able to present human emotions, and feels disheartened when he learns that Hotori rarely leaves the room. More importantly, Hotori suffers from a disease in which her memory rapidly deteriorates. Suzu and Hotori soon form an intimate bond, and question what it really means to live.

Those two have a lot in common. Both show how our memories create who we are and how losing them makes us fell anxious about ourselves. Also, they both have very similar ambience. However, while in Tada Saiwai... there is shown a frienship between a young boy and girl, in  Loveless it's a relationship (or friendship, call it whatever you like xD ) between two guys.

Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

For Kouta and Yuka, finding the bloody naked young girl on the beach would change their lives forever, for better or for worse. Unable to speak or function as a normal human being, she is named Nyu by the duo, and taken into their home in an effort to save her. But what neither teenager knows is that this innocent young girl is actually a killing machine -- an experiment gone terribly wrong -- and it is only a matter of time before the murderer in her awakens again...

Both anime are somewhat mysterious and have some rather deressing themes.  Fans of Ritsuka will enjoy the character development of Lucy in Elfen Lied.  A word of warning: both anime have fighting; however Elfen Lied is far more graphic than Loveless.

Lunar Legend Tsukihime

Lunar Legend Tsukihime

With a past shrouded in mystery and a blank memory, Shiki Tohno seems to be just another "average high school student". That is, until he nearly kills a female vampire with his secret deadly ability to "see the lines". His journey to unlock the secrets of the Tohno family and unbury his own lost memories has only just begun, and now he must also help the woman, Arcueid Brunestud, find a lethal phantom named Roa, and kill it using his ability.

Both anime have darker themes and a bit of mystery to them.  I also found similarities between the characters of Ritsuka and Shiki.

Kannazuki no Miko

Kannazuki no Miko

Gentle Himeko and reserved Chikane were born into very different backgrounds, but still became the best of friends. Their fates, they would soon come to discover, are intertwined in a fashion that they can't possibly imagine -- they are the reincarnations of two priestesses who once sealed the god of darkness Orochi in their past lives. Set to revive again, his giant robot-riding agents have set out to destroy the girls, one of whom is Himeko's friend who is in love with her. Riddled with memories of their past lives, the two try to survive long enough to cast the seal on Orochi again...

Kannazuki no Miko and Lovless are both the kind of shows that things are not realling explained in. They are more about the romances of the couples. Both are also filled with the anger and saddness of the characters. Both are also fighting couples. In both shows though they never explain really why they are fighting, and both endings are somwhat never explained.
