This series is very similiar to Love Hina. Maybe not as silly, but a bit more thoughtful.

kamirura kamirura says...

if you enjoyed watching Love Hina, You should watch Ai Yori aoshi. Love Hina got abit more comedy than AYA though it got the same drama/comedy/ecchi theme. Maybe AYA is abit cuter than Love Hina and less ecchi. Though as I said those to series defenetly belongs to the same genre.

If you like romantic/comedy Animes like Love Hina this is a great choice... this is somewhat more serious, but that only makes this series better.

Tomte Tomte says...

I really love these two series. They both get top scores in the romance genre, LH have a gigger share of echhi and comedy while AYA have more and better drama. The relation situation of the serires is quite the opposite, but they are still simmilar in so many ways. If u havent seen them, get them NOW!

BlueTongue00 BlueTongue00 says...

Ai Yori and Love Hina share a common theme about exploring love. Both Kaoru and Keitaro are surrounded by girls with different abilities and backgrounds. All of them are drawn closer to Kei/Kouru, and now its a crazy love polygon, pumped with occasional comedy and drama. If you like seeing the characters get into these sticky situations of love, (and how they get out) this anime is for you. If you're rather straightforward on the drama, I suggest you get LH first.

magnusvv magnusvv says...

Ai Yori Aoshi is basically the same thing as Love Hina, with even very similar character types. The main difference is there are rougly 6 or so episodes in Ai Yori Aoshi that deal with a more serious romantic plotline. The characters have a bit more depth and there is more reason for the ladies to fall for the lead guy Kaoru.

Niceguy Niceguy says...

The series are very similar in their structure and charecter makeups. Both have the same basic elements - primarily a hapless, but purehearted male lead surrounds by women who like him to varying degress. Unlike Love Hina, he does not typically suffer any abuse at their hands, and there are few awkward/ecchi situations. The humor in this show comes from the fact that the relationship between the two leads must be kept a secret, and yet he has to fend off several other girls without hurting them, and at the same time keep him main relationship a secret, while not hurting the one he truly loves. The series also has a fairly dark back story for the male lead, which makes him more sympathetic than the typical lead in an essentailly "harem anime."

Lothar Lothar says...

I you like Love Hina you'll enjoy Ai yori aoshi to, and the other way around. These two animes has a lot in common, being romance/comedy/harem animes with some ecchi moments. While Ai yori aoshi focuses a bit more on drama, Love Hina is much more ecchi comedy. Still, these are pretty laid-back, feel good animes which will leave you thirsting for more.

Stmated Stmated says...

A boy, shy to start with, moves into a house with alot of girls (all with different personalities). Romance is the fact in both of them, but AYA has a more "secret love" feeling then LH, which is more open.

VuTang VuTang says...

Love Hina is like a more comedic violent version of Ai Yori Aoshi; while young, two people fall in love, disappear from each other for many years, and then suddenly reappear.

mrschocofrog mrschocofrog says...

Both Love Hina and Ai Yori Aoshi have the same anime ground : A "Hinata", a boy and a bunch of girls. And the relationship story are similar, but Ai Yori Aoshi is less ecchi and the boy hero is less clumsy with girls. For people who have been bored of the famous "Naru Punch", Ai Yori is just perfect. A perfect end is missing though, but let's hope the second season (Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~) will settle that for us.

Long lost childhood love, somewhat cutesey eyed animation, and frequent blushing. you will find this and more in the somewhat serious AAY and in the more lighthearted love hina.

marx marx says...

In both series, the main romantic interest becomes very apparent early on. However, the main male character, ends up living in a house with several females, most of whom end up having an interest in him, causing many problems for the destined pair. If you like romance disrupted by comedy with an minor hint of ecchi, I highly recommend this series.

memyselfandi memyselfandi says...

Love Hina and Ai Yori Aoshi both deal with a main male character trying to develop a relationship with one of the female characters - with the remainder of the cast getting in the way. In both cases you get the feeling that the main male character is down on his luck in some way, and has to strive hard to progress in his life as he wants to.

Ai Yori Aoshi has less slapstick violence than Love Hina but if you like one of them, you should like the other as well.

ZuruZora ZuruZora says...

Both Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Hina depict the life of a (lucky) young male student who has to live in a large house full of females ranging from young teenagers to older women in their 30's. There is plenty of humour and romance in both, as well as solid character development for each individual character, so each one feels special. You'll be able to relate certain characters from Love Hina to Ai Yori Aoshi and vice versa. There is plenty of humour, romance, fan-service, and fun to go around in these two anime.

madcomic madcomic says...

Both "Love Hina" and "Ai Yori Aoshi" are the same in the fact that they revolve around a man who has a single love interest, while all of the other girls have a love interest in him.

The difference lies mostly in the nature of the relation between the male lead and the main love interest.

Weeqay Weeqay says...

Both AYA and Love Hina are about one guy who is surrounded by many girls. This is not to say, however, that both anime lack a good story. Both have some funny scenes, AYA is somehow more serious though. They are very nice love stories, if you ask me.

Vilho Vilho says...

Both are "classic harem" anime series, that means one guy and lots of girls/females. Usualy prime character (usualy prime character is the guy) get in all sorts of weird sitsuations and the tric is how he survives after that.

TheGiftedMonkey TheGiftedMonkey says...

Dormitory living, 1 guy, numerous girls. Both have the perfect recipe for a good romantic/comedy. With plenty of characters to flush out, there are plenty of possibilities! Sometimes, even though you live so close to the person, it can feel miles apart.

YannickR YannickR says...

Both anime have a similar feel to it. Ai yori Aoshi is made in a more serious manner, while Love Hina has more comedy in it.

They both have one male with many females to accompany, tough theres obviously one main female character.

Koboi Koboi says...

Both series are about love and the difficulty to express it. You'll find in both a boy living together with girls in a big house and the funny misunderstanding and troubles that comes with it. But Love Hina has a more "Crazy" side to it as Ai Yori Aoshi.

Arielle Arielle says...

Of course is Love Hina a death match for Ai Yori Aoshi. Not only are they both about 1 guy who is surrounded by 5 or so women, the comedy they both have is very much teh same as well as the story lines.

Ai yori aoshi does have a little more substance and there for a better story than love hina does.

There is no doubt about it; if you like one you will definetely love the other as well!

Gwape Gwape says...

Love Hina and Ai Yori Aoshi are similar but also have thier differences. Both have one guy surronded by girls which causes some awkward yet comical scenes. Love Hina tends to be funnier than Ai Yori since Keitaro has had a pretty easy going past while Kaoru has a dark past full of pain with a little happiness when he was with Aoi.

To sum it all up, if you liked Love Hina you will most likely want to watch Ai Yori Aoshi.

Cfos Cfos says...

Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Hina are both romantic anime with some fun as well as dramatic scenes. The male main character is a shy person, but he knows if something must be done and then he is able to overcome his anxiety. The main story is about the love between a boy and a girl, but these two anime aren't limited to this topic alone. As well as the development of the relationship between the main characters, the two of them get new friends and overcome hardships as well.

These two shows are very similar.  Both are about a young man and woman meeting again after a long period of separation and falling in love.  Both shows also have several other pretty girls who live in the same building as the couple, causing problems for the developing relationship, and both make use of alot of ecchi comedy.  Ai Yori Aoshi leans a bit more toward the love story aspect, while Love Hina concentrates more on the ecchi comedy.

cassiesheepgirl cassiesheepgirl says...

Both Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Hina are comedic Harem-situation series. Though both series approach the harem situation in very different ways, both share a similar sort of feel, so if you liked the comedy situation in one then you may enjoy the other.

Although both male protagonists have different personalities, they do represent the same idea. Both are surrounded by multiple females that push the males to their limits. Definitely, definitely something you should watch if you enjoy this anime.

Having read a recommendation to watch this series after watching Love Hina, I felt I just had to recommend it as well. Ai Yori Aoshi is a great series that serves maybe as a more mature version of Love Hina. Don't worry though it is still a comedy at heart (I was afraid it wouldn't be) however, it is more down to earth with realistic situations and characters that you feel you've always known.

ashman711 ashman711 says...

both deal with forming relationships and bonds. Where Love Hina is more comedy and fanservice with slight emphasis on relationships. Aoshi makes the Relationship growth a top priority with less emphasis on the fan service/ecchiness though there is a fair amount in both.

Love Hina is a little more light hearted and has some more slap stick comedy... but both are very good  with that romantic bonus ^^

Great harem romance. You will definitely like this if you liked Love Hina. Some sci-fi, not as much as Onegai Teacher, though.

I think these both have the same atmospheric feeling. They got embarrased quite easy and they always seemed to get into the wrong place at the wrong time ^^ they are both filled with some laughter and a lot of attention grabbing love.

FMDGandi FMDGandi says...

Chobits has many obvious things in common with Love Hina. First of all that the Hideki (the main character) also tries to get into an university in Tokyo, but fails the entrance :). He is as naive as Keitaro and trust in that people always want to do the best. He does not have much experience of life in cities because he has grown up on a farm. In the world of Chobits machines that look like humans, so called Persocons, are helping the humans in many ways of life. As Hideki comes to Tokyo he for the first time in his life realizes how common Persocons are in the cities. He has barely ever had contact wirh persocons before, but in Tokyo nearly everyone has one. His life is very complicated to, becuase he always gets himself out in very embarrasing situations for himself (mostly in front of female persons :P)and very amusing situations for the wiever. But in the later episodes of the story there comes a lovestory in too, but, !NO SPOILERS HERE!. So if you liked love Hina I am nearly 100 sure you will liek this one too!

VonXanadu VonXanadu says...

These are both 'ecchi' series, although neither reaches into hentai. They both go into love and doubt and decision, and evoked the proper feelings well I thought, with very well done music scores. It also gets much more serious, in a good way, starting around episode 15.

Halcyon Halcyon says...

I am pretty sure that fi you liked Love hina you'll like chobits too. Chobits has similar elements ; a boy wich can't handle close contact with women, exept for that in Chobits, the women are computers :) Or a fair bit of them at least. Chobits has lots of humore and a bit action, a fair bit of romance, one of th best stories i have ever encountered. This is a number one, and of course it's a CLAMP production :)

nextolast nextolast says...

Hideki and Keitaro are both compellingly awkward in their romantic attachments... and in narusaga you get a slightly more deep character... and slightly less creepily cute as well. As with mahoromatic, slightly more ecchi than chobits, but a great series not to be missed.

VRDave VRDave says...

Both of these are stories about a boy who can't get into his university and must cram to take the exams, all the while trying to overcome his love for his female room mate and trying to make a relationship blossom. Funny, and heartwarming... but Love Hina is a bit ecchi at times.

Chobits and Love Hina are a love story with a difference. Both series are based around one male character trying, when all said and done, to find a partner to share his life with. Both Love Hina and Please Teacher are quirky romances with a healthy dose of ecchi humor. The lead males both prove to be the same kind of nerdy/geeky guys who gets into an interesting relationship with a beautiful girl and seem to run into nothing but problems constantly. Both series have you laughing most of the time. The rest of the time you'll be frustrated or just plain sad because of the lead's dillemma. These are recommended for one another not simly because they're similar, but because any fan of one is likely to be very entertained by the other.

Though it is a harem comedy, Love Hina shares a lot of the plot elements of Onegai Teacher. From the misunderstandings, the jealous younger sister, and the non descript male lead, one lends itself well to the other.

Cute geeky guy with glasses finds the love of his life in a very peculiar manner. A very typical anime plot device finds a perfect home in both Love Hina and Onegai Teacher. Both of these series feature in-depth love stories with a plethora of obstacles. You'll laugh, you'll cry... :)

Love Hina and Please Teacher should appeal to the same people. Both are lighthearted series where comedy is the main drive, have a small romance story to get things going, and have a bit of ecchi (as is usual in this genre). Things are about to liven up, as our main characters are in for a lot of hazardous situations!

These two anime are all about the perverted young man who finds himself in a situation where several beautiful, busty women want to be with him. Both involve some measure of public disgust to the situation the young man is in (in Onegai Teacher he's married to his high school teacher, and in Love Hina he's the manager of an all-girl's dorm). Finally, they're both full of pantyshots, uncomfortable situations for the main character, and breasts breasts breasts. If you like one, you'll invariably like the other.

Though not the first, Tenchi Muyo! is the most prolific in harem anime. Watch it and its various incarnations and note how well developed (no, not those!) the characters are.

MaximusThrax MaximusThrax says...

Tenchi was one of the original ecchi "harem" anime and defined the genre of a (usually nice, shy, and bland) boy surrounded by exciting and attractive females. One of the most popular successors is Love Hina. Both of these series are humorous, unrealistic, and are almost guaranteed to feature at least one female appealing to the lonely otaku. These two particular harem series are also humorous, well-written, and have good enough art to appeal to other anime fans apart from lonely fanboys.

Psychopath Psychopath says...

If you like harem comedy, you will like Tenchi. Aside from occasional science fiction battles, you will find this series very humorous, and similarily entertaining, in short: very much like Love Hina. There are some differences in the character design, which expresses more maturity and less frontal assault humour. In overall I found the OVA of Tenchi a bit more grown up than the TV show, but they are both worthy of watching.

dredge dredge says...

I am recommending LTenchi Muyo! if you liked Love Hina because they both have a similar plot. They are about a guy who gets drawn into living under a roof with a group of girls and him not knowing how to cope with it.

These anime have a few things in common, though one thing really stands out: no matter how hard the male tries, he is always in the middle of mayhem whether he is responsible for it or not. These are both romantic comedies, yet they are different in many ways. I promise that if you like one then you will like the other just as much - if not more.

selachii selachii says...

One guy lives with loads of girls and has no idea what to do with any of them; Tenchi Muyo and Love Hina are definitely cut from the same comic cloth, both revolving around a reasonably normal young man and the massive disruption to his life once he meets the girl of his dreams.

Young Tenchi in TM finds an alien outlaw whose presence summons other alien princesses, all of whom end up living with him and trying to fit into his everyday life. Keitaro, in LH, has no prospects after failing to enter Tokyo U. He is drafted into the job of apartment manager by his absent grandmother Hina, having then to oversee a group of very different young ladies.

Both series have the expected fan-service, the occasional panty shot or mildly suggestive situation. But more importantly, both seem to focus on the immense power of friendship and deeper fellow feeling, even in the strangest of places. If you're interested in following the comic trials of young boys who flourish into men with the help of some unpredictable women, then both Tenchi and Hina are for you.

SmugDude SmugDude says...

To me Tenchi is probably one of the best harem series. Though unlike Love Hina, it has a bit more fantasy as all of the characters have hidden powers. And while Tenchi has many plot lines the core OAV and movie plot line is definitely worth watching for Love Hina fans.

gboichris gboichris says...

Love Hina and Amaenaide yo have some rather obvious things in common. Besides their genre, which is a very funny romantic harem comedy; the way they deal with this genre is also very similar. There are a few attempts at throwing us off guard, but on the other side the story feels like it's pushing towards a certain matchup. Sure the stories in that sense seem like replicase but they are still different from each other and fresh enough that you can enjoy both. So i'f your looking for a good ecchi watch there you have it and with that adieu.

Sometimes a simple harem story just isn't enough. And there are series out there that do go that extra step. Amaenaideyo is certainly one of them!

Both shows centre on some poor, unfortunate guy who ends up living with a host of lovely girls, all with very different personalities. Amaenaideyo and Love Hina seem to work from exactly the same character requirement sheet, but one involves more bra and panty shots.

There is the love interest who beats the crap out of the poor guy, the athletic one, the innocent one, the "loose" one and a mother hen to oversee the chaos. Don't expect a deep story line, as neither show really has one. Just sit back and enjoy the (perverted) ride ;)

Amaenaidey and Love Hina are alike in many ways.  They are both harem comedies about a loser male who ends up living together with a group of beautiful girls.  Both shows have a violent lead female who routinely beats up on the lead male, and both have a large amount of ecchi comedy.

    wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

Girls, girls, girls!!!  In both Love Hina and Amaenaideyo the protagonist of the series is surrounded by girls.  Both series are jam packed with comedic episodes and awkward moments not even mentioning the abundant amounts of sexual tensions racing as hormones are flying.

Both have a lot of girls living with one man. There is always a misunderstanding going on of the perverted nature.

Very recommendable anime with similiar qualities as Love Hina.

Romantic comedy. One guy, several women. Sprinkle in a touch of magical themes into the stories (there's a flying turtle) and you have a story pretty much on par with Ah! My Goddess.

    gunslinger92 gunslinger92 says...

Let me be perfectly frank. Both of these series are feel-good classics that you really can't live without seeing at least once. Despite the amusing circumstances, both seem to be very able to elicit deep emotions among the most hard-hearted of viewers.

Another romantic comedy with a guy and a girl and the misshappens that they fall into just in a very different setting.

Even though the situations are different and so are the characters' personalities, I recommend these anime because they still have many similarities. The male is single and always misunderstood because of his clumsiness and actions, but he tries his best to be true to himself and those around him. The characters are given a chance to get what they want in life, but they must earn it by overcoming what they think they can't: becoming confident in themselves.

    NITRODRAGON NITRODRAGON says...

both these series are about a down on his luck loser who ends up getting a hot girl how they do it however is where they quite differ as one in this case keitaro urashima ends up becoming the manager of an inn which he finds out the hard way is really an all girls dorm with quite the crew of characters who at first dont like him a bit and like even less now that he's the manager of their dorm.

but in the other however the way he keiichi morisato in this case ends up with the girl of his dreams the goddess beldandy is as he's dialing he calls a wrong number and she comes to him from his mirror shocked at what just happened he decides to make the wish of a lifetime:to have her as his girlfriend forever.

as the story progresses however the two face a lot of hardships trials and tribulations as keiichi stays with beldandy there seem to be no end to the things trying to pull the two apart whether it be the so-called queen of the campus or perhaps a demon named marller or even beldandy's bratty sister skuld despite her older sister urd's attempts at pushing the two closer together.

as for keitaro a recurring promise that he made 15 years ago to go tokyo u with a girl leads him to believe that one of the girls particularly the one he's in love with naru narusegawa is the girl whom he made his promise with but it is later revealed that such is not the case but through hard times the two stick it out together and manage in the end to fall in love with each other on their way to making it into tokyo u together

overall i would so totally recommend both these animes as they are actully quite a lot of fun to look at and i enjoyed both of them as i am sure you will too especially if the classic romantic comedy drama anime is your style iwould most definitely recommend both as worth watching because what ifound is that not only are both quite funny both they also have quite the serious side to them most fans would sooner discriminate against them calling them harem animes and not even give them a second thought however if you give them a chance you'll find that these anime are just as much worth watching as any other anime!

    Ah! My Goddess TV

Morisato Keiichi has always had bad luck. No matter what he does or how he acts, nothing seems to go his way. His bike frequently breaks down, his classmates take advantage of him, women ignore and scorn him, and on top of all that, he’s only 5'3". In Heaven, when someone’s bad luck and good luck are so heavily out of balance, Belldandy (Goddess First Class, Second Category, Unlimited) of the Goddess Assistance Agency comes to the rescue. Belldandy grants Keiichi one wish to make up for all of his bad luck, but when Keiichi wishes for Belldandy to stay by his side forever... the trouble begins. Can Keiichi keep Belldandy by his side, or will outside elements force her to return to heaven?

Romance, wacky humor, larger-than-life occurrences -- what more can you ask for in a "harem" anime, with a hopeless, luckless guy surrounded by a group of beautiful yet unusual women? Both Ah! My Goddess and Love Hina have the pleasant knack of combining funny (almost silly) elements with moments of poignancy and expression. Keiichi and Keitaro are the world's two unluckiest male protagonists until they find themselves living an interesting life under the same roof with a bunch of girls; they encounter rivals for their love interests, get terrorized by mecha on a daily basis, and from time to time, embark on a crazy adventure. Both anime series put a lot of emphasis on romantic development, but they are also stories of the protagonists' growth as well. Although the personalities of the characters differ by magnitudes, if you liked the slice-of-life quality of one, then you'll definitely like the other.

    freakzilla freakzilla says...

There is one distinct difference between Ah My Goddess and Love Hina: Love Hina is about clobbering the main character as hard as you can. ^^. Both provide great humor where the male lead just ends up being the wrong guy at the wrong time in the wrong place - and that's all the time!

    j4c3n j4c3n says...

Both anime are about a single guy caught up in drama which includes being chased by bunch of girls. Keichi (Ah! My Goddess) and Keitaro (Love Hina) both live with lots of girls - Keichi in an old temple, and Keitaro in a girls' dormitory. Both ended up there by pure coincidence. And finally both characters develop feelings towards one of their cohabitants, which isn't expressed till the end thanks to the other girls.

    jurexplay jurexplay says...

Bunch of sexy girls and a clumsy main character. We all know what happens next, right? There aren'nt many harem shows that I liked but Love Hina was quite good. I think that if you like LH you will enjoy somewhat similiar harem show tittled "Ah! My Goddes TV". There's no guarantee though.

    Merryberry Merryberry says...

Guys who are unlucky and somehow find themselves in situations that they never even dreamed of, are the basis for Love Hina and Ah! My Goddess. The only difference being one has a goddess and the other a turtle. Either way, enjoying one will mean that you'll like the other.

    UltimateShinobi UltimateShinobi says...

Both anime include one male surrounded by many girls. Both anime have a main character whose hopes are only set on one of them. While Ah! My Goddess TV has better animation and a supernatural feel they both fit into the same genre.

    TheOmnipotentLemur TheOmnipotentLemur says...

Love Hina and Ah! My goddess are, admittedly, very differant. Naru and Belldandy are polar opposites, and one is harem while the other is just 2. Besides this, though, the series have the same underlying themes and both are very sweet romances.

This is the series I watched after Love Hina, and I feel is the perfect companion. More girls around one guy, although this time some are robotic. Funny, memorable, good.

    VRDave VRDave says...

The two main characters in both of these share similar traits as well as being surrounded by mostly females. Keitaro isn't a computer genius though, and Kazuya doesn't run an inn full of coeds.

    flamewizzy21 flamewizzy21 says...

Both Hand Maid Mai and Love Hina are good harem-style anime (1 guy, many girls). Both of them have a little ecchi in the show (of the two, Love Hina seems to be a bit more ecchi). Both protagonists (Keitaro Urashima and Kazuma Saotome) have their own *favorite* girls (Naru Narusegawa and May respectively). Although each protagonist has a favorite girl, those girls find an unusually large amount of competition when it comes to their respective guys. Naru seems to be characterized by her much more reserved feelings toward her love. May's character, however, is much more naive and has her mind set on serving her guy the best she can. Both anime have several parallels, making them a good pair to watch together.

    dstarfire dstarfire says...

A classic anime theme of 1 boy living with/near/around an assortment of beautiful women that are all in love with him. Many misadventures follow, until the "hero" ends up with the girl of his dreams.

    Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

I agree. Hand Maid May is a romance comedy with a very soft herem undertone, and what better herem to compare it to than Love Hina. Keitaro Urachima in Love Hina is the one that runs the all female dorm and in HMM Kazumi Tani runs the apartment complex that most of the story takes place in. That's the big similarity. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.

If you are searching for a series similar to Love Hina in the romantic part then Kare Kano is a definitive choice for you. Kare Kano is a bit heavier on the romantic part and also a tad more serious, even tho' Kare Kano weighs a huge load on the comedy scale.

    VRDave VRDave says...

Another lighthearted love story with some love triangles and witty humor. Love hina is a little less serious and the series is more episodic, whereas Kare Kano tries to follow kind of a single story.
