Dirty Pair Flash

Dirty Pair Flash

Dirty Pair Flash is a rather explosive look at the futuristic antics of two "troubleshooters": Yuri and Kei, agents for a galactic organization that intends to reduce catastrophy and solve intergalactic crime. Unfortunately, any crime that is solved usually involves mass destruction, as the "Lovely Angels" use everything from large scale explosives to pure brute force to get the job done.

There is just something about Dirty Pair Flash that reminds me of Lost Universe. Sure, there is the obvious comparisons partners, one a crack shot, the other using an energy blade, going on missions across the universe. Sure the animation is pretty similar as well. But also the feel, especially with the earlier Lost Universe episodes, and some of the zaniness between them seems similar.

I am pretty sure that if you enjoyed one of these, you will probably enjoy the other.

Martian Successor Nadesico

Martian Successor Nadesico

When Akito Tenkawa went looking for answers about his parents' deaths, he had no idea that he'd be indoctrinated into the spaceship Nadesico not only as a cook, but also as a mecha pilot – a job he wants nothing to do with! Alongside his childhood friend Yurika, stoic Ruri, otaku Gai and other misfit crewmates, Akito and the Nadesico crew find themselves in the middle of a brutal war against both the dreaded Jovian Lizards, and the military itself, who wants the civilian ship under their control...

Both of these series are humorous science ficiton. Lost Universe is a little crazier and more clearly parodies a specific work (Star Wars), while Nadesico parodies both space battleship anime (Yamamoto) and any giant robot fighting anime ever made. They both have actual plots, but it takes a little time to get to them. Nadesico is more clearly a parody, and spends quite a bit of time humorously making fun of anime and anime-watchers in general. Slayers is a little crazier and features less realistic character design and art.

Outlaw Star

Outlaw Star

Gene Starwind and Jim Hawkins make a living on various jobs and bounties. While waiting for their ticket to hit it big time, a mysterious woman named Hilda leaves them with a key to the puzzle of finding a starship of great power, known only as the Outlaw Star. What are these long lost spaceships and what is the Galactic Leyline?

Themed much like Lost Universe, the inhabitants of the outlaw star are on a constant search for wealth, however they are drawn into something deeper. Interesting plot, although it rings overly similar (and vice versa) to Lost Universe. Definately an enjoyable series if you liked the latter however.

Sol Bianca: The Legacy

Sol Bianca: The Legacy

Armed with five female crewmembers, a full arsenal of weapons, and a holographic AI computer, the pirate ship Sol Bianca sets off across the galaxy to fight the Tres space force, save a young boy named Rim Delapaz and his civilization from destruction, and take down a universally powerful dictator Batros. All this for what? Treasure of course.

Space, treasure hunter, battler of corrupt organizations. Yeah, it's a lot like Lost universe... so of course, if you enjoyed LU, you will definitely like Sol Bianca... although I recommend spacing out watching both series so it doesn't seem TOO similar.

Both shows have comedy, space travel. an intelligent spaceship. A guy and a girl that travels in space to accomplish missions. If you like one you may also like the other one. Is worth the try.
