With nowhere else to go, the girls and their mother travel to Newcord in order to live with a relative; and it is there that they begin their new lives. Though there are hardships to overcome, these little women do whatever it takes to remain a loving family and keep hope that the war will end, and their father will return home.
When Sara Crewe's father left to work in India, she was sent to a boarding school. With her affluent background and beautiful dresses, Sara was ensured a warm welcome to her new home; but this reputation gained her enemies. Tragedy then struck when her father passed away, and her family was forced into bankruptcy, leaving Sara at the cruel hands of the school’s headmistress. Now, life for Sara is as hard as it can get, as she has been forced to become a maid in exchange for her poor room and board. With her friends and imagination at her side, Sara will try to make the best out of her bad situation.
"Little Women" and "Little Princess Sara" both tell the stories of young girls who Life obliges to grow up fast and show their real strength of character in order to face the hard times.
The stories take place in the same social background of the 19th century. As a matter of fact, both anime are very precise adaptations of the novels "Little Women" (1868) by Louisa May Alcott and "A Little Princess" (1888) by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Btw, if I may, I also strongly recommend the books, although the anime are brilliantly adapted :)
Since the death of their parents, Tom Sawyer and his academic brother Sid have been raised by their aunt Polly in a small village called Saint Petersburg. Tom is a disobedient boy; he gives his aunt a hard time, ditches school to go fishing in the Mississippi River, climbs trees, and plays pirate games with his friend Huck. Although Tom usually does not attend school, he is quite popular among the pupils; even Tom’s crush, the pretty Becky, grows fond of him. Without a care in the world, Tom leads his friends into adventures; from catching boars or solving murders, there’s never a dull day for the intrepid Tom!
