Flame of Recca

Flame of Recca

Recca dreams of one day becoming an excellent ninja, but in this day and age ninjas are only talked about in history lessons. While playing his ninja games, he meets a mysterious woman that reveals to Recca his past, his bond with the powerful Hokage clan, and the special flame power that resides within him. Meanwhile, the evil Kurei has plans to gather the madougu from the Hokage clan so that he may take control over the elemental powers, but Recca is determined to master his flame and stop Kurei’s evil plans. Does he have what it takes to live up to his own expectations and put a stop to Kurei himself?

Because they both have tournaments. And this anime has an adventure filled with comedy just like Law of Ueki. It's a shounen anime, therefore, I can also recommend Flame of Recca.

kooltilldend

One's based around Flames (or Ninjas as the anime likes to call it) while the other is based around Plants/Trees...at the end of the day, they are both typical shonen animes...if you like one, you'll def. like the other...and if you don't like one, there's very little that's different in the other (similar stories, typical boy/girl relationships, enemies that later become friends and so on)Y

Dragon Drive

Dragon Drive

Throughout his life, Oozora Reiji has always been rather half-hearted. Never able to fully dedicate himself to anything, he lives a sloppy day-to-day existence, until his classmate Yukino introduces him to Dragon Drive -- a virtual reality game. While Reiji garners a passion for the game, it would seem that its founders have other things in mind than simple entertainment. During a special training, Reiji discovers that Dragon Drive is more than just a game, and now must fight for the survival of the dragons as well as all of mankind!

both animes involve a person getting to fight with his power and getting involved in a tournament

Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

For Kouta and Yuka, finding the bloody naked young girl on the beach would change their lives forever, for better or for worse. Unable to speak or function as a normal human being, she is named Nyu by the duo, and taken into their home in an effort to save her. But what neither teenager knows is that this innocent young girl is actually a killing machine -- an experiment gone terribly wrong -- and it is only a matter of time before the murderer in her awakens again...

Though there aren't great similarities between Elfen Lied and Law of Ueki, they both involve characters that have had very traumatic childhoods that have severely affected their personalities. If you watch both of these shows, you should feel a strong connection when you meet the characters.

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi

Shirahama "weak legs" Kenichi is a typical high school student with typical problems: he's frequently bullied and tends to run away in the face of his enemies. Things change when Kenichi meets Furinji Miu, whose grandfather runs a dojo; and not knowing what he's getting himself into, he signs up to become a disciple. As Kenichi's life-threatening training continues and he becomes more and more powerful, he inadvertently becomes the target of the deadly gang called Ragnarok. With mental and physical challenges ahead, can Kenichi survive his encounters with Ragnarok, or will the masters of his dojo get to him first?

The reason I personally enjoyed both of these animes is the development of the main characters' skills throughout the course of the anime. I don't want to spoil either of them, but seeing both main characters getting schooled by a strong opponent before becoming stronger through training and beating them is a dominant theme. Highly recommended :)

Kekkaishi

Kekkaishi

Sumimura Yoshimori is a Kekkaishi – an inheritor of the power to battle demons, using barriers called kekkai. His family is charged with protecting the grounds of Karasumori high school, a building which magnifies the power of demons who enter it. Helping him are his spirit-wolf companion Madarao, and next door-neighbor Yukimura Tokine, the daughter of a rival clan. Years ago, Tokine was injured protecting Yoshimori, and now he is determined to become strong enough to keep her from being hurt again. Of course, he'd rather bake his exquisite cakes than have to fight demons at all, but fate has something else in store! As a shadowy demon organization moves to steal Karasumori's power, can Yoshimori overcome legions of demons, a centuries-old family rivalry, and a grandfather who just can't understand his love for baking?

In either anime, you will find lots of cool battles in many unique situations. On top of that their messages are quite similiar which is to protect the ones they love. Which brings to a conclusion that if you like one of these animes, you have to watch the other or you might be the one missing out.
