King of Bandit Jing

King of Bandit Jing

Join the king of thieves Jing and his plumed partner Kir as they seek out the greatest treasures in the world - and steal them. From desert bandit fortresses to the innermost sanctums of kings and queens, if there's a magnificent treasure to be had, you can be sure Jing has his eyes (and later his hands) on it.

Call me crazy, but the slapstick in Jing and KKM really remind me of each other. I am a sucker for random comedies, and both of these have quite a bit. ;)
Frost
Although the characters in these two series are rather different, I still sense sort of a similar atmosphere around them. It might be the fantasy setting (with a bit more creativity in Jing's case), it might be that Yuuri and Jing look a smidgen similar, I don't know. There's just something I can't quite put my finger on that says "You'll like one if you like the other".

Nabari no Ou

Nabari no Ou

There are two worlds which exist side by side – the ordinary surface world of the humans and the secret world of ninjas called Nabari. Within this secret world, the opposing ninja groups are fighting over who should possess the ultimate power known as Shinra Banshou. Enter Miharu Rokujou, a high-school student who lives a carefree life and likes to keep himself to himself. Unfortunately for Miharu, his carefree life is about to be over, because within him is hidden the ultimate power and there is no end of evil minions ready to kidnap him for it! Miharu’s only chance of survival is to embrace this mystic world and become the King of Nabari himself. With the help of his new ninja friends, Kouichi, Shimizu, and Kumohira, can he come to grips with his powers or will he fall prey to his many enemies instead?

Ina

Both series are about teenage boys who posess extreme powers and destined to become the leaders of other worlds they know nothing about.

hamletsmage

Both of the main protagonists were common boys before something threw them into a world they knew nothing about. There, they learned they were the destined ruler of a magical realm that intertwined with their own. While Kyo Kara Maoh has demons, and Nabari no Ou has ninjas, both have copious amounts of bishounens.

Scrapped Princess

Scrapped Princess

The god Mauser delivered unto a world of magic a prophecy: if the Scrapped Princess is allowed to live, she will destroy the entire world. But the knight who was to kill her could not end the life of a newborn child, and so she lived. Fifteen years later, her adopted brother and sister have sworn to protect her, and together they travel from town to town, searching for a life she can't have.

For two funny looks at fantasy worlds with lots of cute creatures and interesting characters, check out Scrapped Princess or Kyou Kara Maou. Definitely more slapstick in KKM, but both won't fail to please.

Kyo Kara Maoh! had a similar feel to it's progression and art as Scrapped Princess. They're both fantasy series with a good sense of humor.

Capricorn

Capricorn
  • OVA (1 ep x 50 min)
  • 1991

Taku is an ordinary eighth grader who has suddenly found himself in the land of Slaffleaze, a world much different than his own. Here, intelligent animals live like humans, and are ruled by Zalbo, an evil tyrant set on dominating both Slaffleaze and its twin planet Capricorn, the Earth. With the help of Mona, a human/dragon hybrid who is the last of her kind, and a handful of companions, Taku must fight to protect the Earth from Zalbo's incoming invasion fleet before it's too late!

Although Kyou Kara Maou is definitely a LOT more focused on comedic situations, both it and Capricorn excel in showing us a beautiful fantasy world with a protagonist who definitely shouldn't be there, but is forced to adapt anyways! Not to mention, these are both a great viewing anyways.
