In the final round of the tenth annual World Martial Arts Championship, thirteen-year-old rookie Kizuna easily defeats her behemoth opponent, Everest Choyama, grabs the prize money and disappears. But what Everest didn't know is that the girl is actually two days away from her thirteenth birthday, and thus was ineligible for the contest. As such the embittered man sets a challenge to all fighters: whoever defeats the young girl before her birthday will be crowned the new champion. Now Kizuna must fight off countless challengers at her door while also discussing her life with a freelance journalist named Hanaka.
In both of these stand-alone episodes, the main characters, who are young girls and strong martial artists, must face a gang of would-be attackers. Marimo no Hana is more serious and Kizuna Ichigeki is more comedy, but if you like one, you'd probably like the other.
