Though there are plenty of detective anime out there, Ayatsuri Sakon and Kindaichi are especially alike due to their mutual and exceptionally dark atmosphere. AS leans a bit more towards the supernatural, while Kindaichi is more based on reality; both will appeal to detective anime fans who want something dark.

Both of these series are amazing murder mystery series. They handle one case for around 3 episodes and so each mystery is well-developed and suspenseful. They both deal in murders and the complicated emotions of criminals and detectives. They both have a dark atmosphere and are incredible mystery series.

Detective Conan

Detective Conan

To protect himself and his loved ones from those who may want to finish the job, Shinichi dons the new name Conan Edogawa and moves in with Ran, whose father is a famous detective, in hopes of closing cases that can lead him to the men in black. But little does Shinichi know just how dangerous these men, and their cause, are...

Though Kindaichi is less lighthearted than Detective Conan, the two are a perfect recommendation for each other. Kindaichi and Conan solve the hardest cases with ease, often involving murders or other dark topics.

If you like Conan/Kindaichi you'll love Kindaichi/Conan too :D

They both have the same strategies, locked room, stranded on island, always seem to be where murders are, and high school detectives who happen to be allowed to help investigators.

Difference Kindaichi is 17 and not as serious as Conan about everything only his deductions. Also Kindaichi doesn't have a Doctor Agasa. The stories all have those endings where you can either sympathize with the killer or you will think senseless killing.

You can try and find out who the murderers are with both detectives, I say find the murderers because they use crazy methods to cover up their murders.

All over I think if you enjoy one you will definitely enjoy the other. Even though you recognize the patterns its hard to stop watching :D

Death Note plays both parts of a detective and that of a young genius whom has the power to kill without evidence. You fallow both the path of the killer and the detective. Both masterminds that suspect eachother but with no evidence. The theme of and feel of both are simmilar. Be ready for the darker toon and feel of Death Note.
