Red Garden

Red Garden

Four students of the same age have nothing in common except that they attend the same elite New York City school. Kate, Rose, Clare and Rachel all belong to different cliques and hardly notice each other's existence. Then one day they gain something in common, something very important, something mysterious. They find themselves drawn together by the death of a fellow student and the secret of their own missing memories. Suddenly they are thrown into a world of hidden warfare on the city streets and are caught up in secrets which would not be believed by others. These four all have their own problems to struggle with, things that seem more important than such strange conflicts. Can they escape from this fate? The only thing they know is that despite coming from four different worlds they now have to rely on each other or die without a hope.

If you like anime with a plotline that is obscure and cryptic, and only comes clear over time, while retaining a strong sense of characterization, then you'll be happy to know that these are the common traits shared by Key the Metal Idol and Red Garden. Another feature of both these anime is a nebulous and threatening enemy which proves difficult, if not impossible, to get a grip on, let alone defeat.

Saishuheiki Kanojo and Key the Metal Idol are both frail, beutiful stories with dark frame. There are similarities in animation, though that isn't exactly identical. Still, the animation and colours of both series give one the same kind of feeling.

One day, he meets a strange girl named Shihou Matsuri who shares his interest, but as fate may have it, she isn't a human; Matsuri is a Yaka -- a "woe of the night" -- who is immortal and cannot stand the sunlight. A strange man is chasing Matsuri, to use her powers, so Yorito decides to help her hide. What are the strange man's plans, and what secrets does Yorito's sister hide?

YPaladin

Both are human stories about inhuman girls (Matsuri is a "Yaka", Key is a robot) who make relationships and find a place in the world as they go along. Both are intensely moving, exceptional anime which are set clearly apart from others.

Unfortunately for one underground boxer who was mutilated, a rogue doctor has given him what ORGAN specializes in and he despises: Texhnolyze body parts. Texhnolyze and Key The Metal Idol go deep into the darkness of humanity. Both principal characters don't show much emotion. Both use science fiction elements with different kinds of robots. The stories of the two anime are mature and well done! If you liked one, you'd surely want to watch the other too!

Both of these series have some similar themes, that I won't say because it would spoil them, but the feeling is quiet similar. They both have that dark, self-searching feeling to them. Key has robots though and WhR has Witches.
