Somewhere in the idyllic, World War 1-era Finnish countryside lives Katri, a poor yet happy and energetic young girl. With her father gone and mother working abroad, she lives and works in her grandparents' farm until, while she’s still just a child, unfortunate circumstances force her to go out on her own and make a living for herself.
