In present day Japan, the life of a school girl is never dull. The easily-bored Konata never finds time to study because of her otaku habits, which frustrates hard-working Kagami to no end. On the other hand, laid-back Tsukasa always manages to go with the flow, while Miyuki is concerned with keeping her status as resident know-it-all. Join these four girls as they muse and meander their way through everyday events such as eating chocolate cones, doing homework, gaming, and trips to the beach galore.
I really, really hated Lucky Star, but I still think it fits very well with K-on. both follow the slice of life antics of some girls with extremely similar animation. If you liked one, definitely try out the other (though Lucky Star really does seem to be hit or miss)
As both anime focus on the everyday life of a group of schoolkids, K-On! has a more continues storyline whereas Lucky Star is just a series of short jokes. This means you will see less jokes in K-On!, but the type of humor is the same. Thus I think that if you liked one, you will most likely like the other one too.
Both of these shows centers on a group of high school girls. They go through life everyday doing many things such as going to see a doctor, practicing for an upcoming concert, or just trying to do your homework and pass the test.
K-On! and Lucky Star are two slice of life shows I'd consider on opposite sides of the spectrum. Lucky Star has pretty much no plot at all and K-On! on the other hand has more than the typical slice of life show. Though the similarites between the girls and the brand of humor (minus all the parody) make it an obvious recommendation.
Let's see... They are both characters who can be either extremely moe or very angry in exceedingly similar ways. Their actions will make you fall out your chair laughing and some of the plot just grabs your attention. Both are centered around the friendship of 4 characters. While K-on's is a fresh start because of the club, they all develope a hilarious relationship with one another like in Lucky Star. If you liked either one, you must give the other a watch.
Both Lucky Star and K-On! are slice-of-life animes about four main girls plus some other girls on the side. While Lucky Star has otaku references (video games, anime, etc.), K-On! has rock references (rock music, guitar, bass, drums, etc.). They are both entertaining and have their own unique comedic values. If you liked one, you most likely will like the either. Also, they are both made by Kyoto Animation.
Same theme, school girl group does weird stuff. Made by the same people and it shows on a positive note. If you like one, you'll love the other :)
The spiritual forefather of K-On!, Lucky Star sports a similar cast (Konata = Ritsu, Miyuki = Mugi, Kagami = Mio, and Tsubasa ~ Yui) and sense sense of humor, but combines it with a heavy dose of anime references. If laughed out loud at the Krauser cameo in K-On!'s first episode, Lucky Star is a must-watch.
School-girl slice of life comedy shows. Both end in a climatic performance in the final episode and both take a completely irrelevant but amusing route to get there. Both focus more on the quirky relationships than any overriding plot.
Both series feature a group of happy-go-lucky girls going through an average high school life (but with no boys present usually). Though K-ON!'s color styling is much better, it also has some similarities to Lucky Star that I can't put my finger on, but I can definitely feel a resemblance. They both are pretty random and have some pretty funny moments, so if you enjoyed one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.
Lucky Star and K-On are very similar, they are two sides of the same coin. The characters are pretty similar, although the K-On girls feel more like some of the secondary characters from Lucky Star than the main 4. Essentially, Lucky Star is about Anime and Japan culture and K-On is about music and Japanese High School, besides these plot changes, if you like one, chances are good you'll like the other.
Each of these series are slice of life, set in high-school, and focus around high school girls. They also both have similar animation styles and similar humor (Although, because Lucky Star is more episodic, it has more humor and less of a central story arch).
Both Lucky Star and K-On! feature very similar main characters during their young school lives. The style of comedy is very similar while the main storylines may be different. If you like one you will surely enjoy the other.
Both have a 4 Main Characters that are good Friends! The characters are really alike as well. Both have the Same Comedy.
both are very funny and have simular light hearted feels to them, and they are both very good.
I prefer K-On! to Lucky Star by far, as it has more of a plot, but Lucky Star is still worth recommending. They have rather similar animation, they are based around young girls in their school life and have a high level of comedy. If you have seen one and liked it, it would surely be worth checking out the other.
Though K-on's main character isn't an anime/manga Otaku. It's about an airheaded girl who finds love in light music (Though I don't really consider it "light"). But It has the same laid back, "no real plot line" tendency as Lucky Star.
Both of these are about high school girls, who become good friends after meeting each other in high school. they both have very touching moments, and also are very humorous.
K-on and Lucky Star are both very light comedys involving adorable girls in a group doing their adorable things.
Both of these anime are of similar styles. They both are about day-to-day interaction between the characters and less about a story. If you liked one of these you have a good chance of liking the other.
Both of these shows have a very laid back feel about them, and don't really focus about the matter in hand (Lucky Star doesn't focus that much about working hard at school; K-On! doesn't focus very much at music) Both of them you have to be in a laid-back frame of mind to really fully appreciate too.
Both K-on! and Lucky star are about a group of high school girls that are all great friends who trust each other, have fun together, have lunch together and even study together. Both these animes have a very similar kind of comedy, another one of their similaritiesis that both have a good sense of randomness throught the episodes.(there will be times when you're laufhting and you dont really know why)
So, I think if you loved one your definetly going to love the other.
School, teenage girls, moe, comedy, and a hook to keep the plot going. K-on! has the Light music club, and Lucky Star to a lesser degree has Konata and her Anime, gaming interests. Both are cheerful. Check the other out.
Both are slice-of-life comedies with plenty of moe, which focuses the plot on a theme (music/the life of otaku)
funny, slice of life, great laugh, make you wanted to see the next episode more and more, no boring moment, make you go whaaa? in the middle of episode
i am telling you if you liked lucky star you will love k on i enjoyed the music in k on both anime have a rich nice girl and both have a ditzy girl both have school girl life and both of them even have a manga lover in it
Kanata Sorami, a young Private in the army, arrives in Seize to serve in the Clocktower Fortress and learn the trumpet under the tutelage of Master Sergeant Rio Kazumiya. Though peace hangs uneasily over the world, Kanata finds a relaxing routine of laundry, shopping, and trumpet practice greets her at her new post instead of brutal drilling and discipline. With help from the other members of the all-female 1121st Platoon, Kanata finds her place in the bustling city, bringing joy and humor to the war-weary residents while learning a great deal about the world.
They have absolutely the same art, almost the same characters, storylines are a bit similar and it's strange that they are created by different studios. Sora no Oto like a parody on K-On!, but sure it isn't. So If you liked one of them you definitely should watch another - i think you won't be disappointed!
the characters look exactly same and it is about music but the weird thing is that different sudios made them. otherwise the they both funny and are good shows
Bouth anime have to do with music and becoming a better musishin. BOuth have almost identicol animation
They have similar artistic styles and both involve a girl who has no real prior experience in playing her instrument but learns to play it as the series progresses. Although K-ON! is more of a slice of life anime and So-Ra-No-Wo-To has more of a plot to it you will like both of them.
Both these shows have very similar art styles and characters. Although the setting in quite different, the plots are both about a girl who is trying to learn an instrument without any past experience (and act exactly alike). Fans of one will enjoy the other for sure, these shows are copies of one another.
both K-On! and Sora no Woto have many things in common, both have a similar music aspect (even so we cant compare the modern music from K-On! with the classic one from Sora no Woto), both share the same art style and similar characters (also in terms of personality as well) and as well both of them feature an enjoyable and nice comedy aspect. The difference is in setting, while Sora no Woto has a WWI setting, K-On! has a contemporan, modern setting but even so both shows are similar and if you like one be sure to check the other one as well.
Both of these anime showcase the story of personal growth of a rather clumsy female protagonist and how her friends help her in this growth. Beyond that, an almost identical animation style and the fact that both heroine's are trying to master a musical instrument should ensure that if you liked one you will enjoy the other.
Both animes have the same kind of art , the characters are very similar and not to mention both animes have wonderful friendships!
Sora no woto - the story line is diffrent from K-on but they are still very alike , SnW is based on long int the future and about the army and such , but still u noticed that its like K-ON (both include music)
K-ON- like i said the story line is very diffrent from SnW but still kind of the same , K-on is based on girls that are in high school and are in a light music club.
even so if u like K-ON U WILL LIKE Sora no Woto (and the other way around)
Both of these shows have plot elements concerning music, plus they have simular feels to them and simular art and story elements.
well, both are moe, aren't they?
I admit both series have similar art, character design and animation style, almost same plot, and the characters themselves. All about music although not the same genre.
So....I suggest you watch both!
Another show completely based on 'moe'. Also, music is a central theme in both and the art styles are identical.
The animation is very simular in both, and the characters almost seem identical, with very simular character traits and personalities. The theme of both is music so if you like one the other would be a simular treat.
With a similar style of artwork and humor, Sora-no-Woto is a more serious version of K-On!, focusing on a dreary future. If you enjoyed K-On! and wanted something more serious, or Sora and wanted more, then the other series is a good choice.
I am not sure why everyone is saying they have identical animation when they do not...
But these shows are definitely similar in the moe concept of the group of girls. The chances are you would like the other if you've seen one of them.
Koyuki is a downcast fourteen-year-old boy who feels disconnected from life. Socially unpopular and lacking confidence, he takes some solace in his fandom of fluffy J-Pop. However, when he saves a strange dog from a group of cruel young bullies, his life changes forever; for through this encounter he meets a genius guitarist named Ryuunosuke and subsequently is introduced to the world famous rock band Dying Breed. Now, he uses his innate singing talent and beginning guitar skills to join with the indy startup band Beck, learning to live a life unlike anything he has ever known...
Since both series are mainly about music and the forming of a new band, while the protagonists in both cases are quite unfamiliar with music and have to start from scratch. Both are guitarists, which never give up and try their hardest at what they put their minds to.
I'm making this recommendation purely based on the fact that as an amateur guitarist myself, I greatly enjoyed the focus on instruments and learning to play in both of these shows. While the genre's of these two shows are far apart (Beck being more of a serious anime about an up-and-coming rockband and K-On! being totally lighthearted), my enjoyment for these two shows skyrocketed because of these shared plot elements. If you can relate with this, don't hesitate to check the other out!
Even though K-On! and BECK are different styles of anime, they both have the same story. The main character didn't really have anything going for them and then they get into playing guitar and their life is changed forever. If you like one you'll like the other!!
K-ON & Beck.. animes about music. K-ON-> cute schoolgirls, more comedic and light, while Beck is more serious, with more emphasys on character developement, music, and imo. great english voice acting :) definitely reccomend both!
If I had to compare Beck to K-On!, I would say K-On! is like Beck-lite, the same starting point and flavor (A younger person starting from scratch and joining a band), but a lot lighter humor and less talk about the actual music. Both these are great series, and are must sees for anyone that enjoys music.
This is for you, if you like to see average people start up as novices and grow into an amazing band.
Both are centred around music, improving, forming a band, overcoming obstacles and becoming known.
K-ON is like the female, moe version of BECK :P
both stories will make you love the character, and cheer them on as they take step by step to achieve something, you will cry when they cry, you will laugh when they laugh,
Both about music, but Beck is more serious and has more of an overall direction. With K-ON! It’s all about making jokes, but Beck is about becoming a better musician. Beck also does a better job showcasing the music, in Beck entire episodes are about a concert and at least two songs will be played. With K-ON! You rarely hear new, it’s just “Fluffy Time” over and over.
Having been close friends for years, when young Tooru passes her entrance exam she immediately rushes to tell Run that they will be attending the same school. However, since Run is one year older, not only will the two girls be in different classes, but the air-headed second year has already made her own friends, Yuuko and Nagi. Now the small, volatile and overprotective Tooru must learn to share her best friend and get to know her new acquaintances, as the four girls make the most of each new day.
These two anime have similar character archetypes and calm, ordinary slice of life feel. K-on is a little more music oriented, but otherwise the anime are nearly identical.
Both series are based on yonkoma gag manga. Both have a high school setting, have a similar steriotypical cast, lack a serious plot and are your typical random slice-of-life comedies. Both are heavy on moe.
Check out one if you like the other, otherwise stay away.
These series are each gag heavy, moe heavy, and plot light. Neither of them have much in terms of depth, but, if you like all the cute characters doing... nothing in one series, you should give the other a try.
A Channel and K-ON! are both slice of life comedy anime about four girls. The characters of A Channel also might remind one of the K-ON! girls. Both series also have a lot of music in them - in K-ON! it is from the girls in their music club, and in A Channel it is in the insert songs each episode.
These two series are almost identical in every way.
Enter the protagonists: an entirely aloof klutz, a shy and nervous beauty, the half-serious underclassman and a dietcrazed foureyes as a mix of Rin and Mugi - in a sugarcoated, standard slice-of-life episodic show. Even the plot (a term only loosely used) at the end of both shows are in almost every sense completely identical.
Where one show has the band as an anchor-point for music, the other has a short song in every episode. While the humor and feel of both shows are of the exact same kind.
Basically, if you take away the instruments from K-On, the "leftovers" will be A-channel!
Both of these are slice-of-life comedies with the majority of the cast consisting of a group of cute school girls.
Not much plot, not much character development, but many laughs.
Both contain a subplot about the youngest character worrying about being left behind when all her friends graduate.
A-Channel and K-On share the same charactertypes and if you liked one you'll definitely like the other just as much.
Both the series are built around cute/moe characters and school life/clubs. Each series follows around the club/girls as they go about their normal school lives, with some soft comedy delivered on the side and a nice feel pacing.
Each series has a smaller sub-liniear plot to assist them on their way, from K-ons musical band to Tooru's fear of being left behind after he slightly older friend meets new people.
Both series are nice warm comedies with good development and enjoyable to watch and chillout with, as said by others they are so alike in many ways, i think if you watch one, the other is a must try
This is a light anime. I'm saying that you can just sit back and relax. Though K-on had some feels to it near the end. Both anime is about a high schooler about their daily lives. -------------------
Between unspoken and unrequited love, mysterious happenstance, and the day-to-day affairs of a busy market, life is rarely dull in the Bunny Mountain Shopping Village - especially after Tamako, the happy-go-lucky mochi-maker's daughter, finds a talking exotic bird on a mission! Having traveled a great distance, the creature now seeks a worthy bride for his land's prince - but where in this corner of rural Japan can such a thing be found? Already busy trying to keep the shopping district alive and hanging out with her friends in Baton Club, Tamako can't afford to be distracted by the plucky bird - yet the scoundrel seems to have taken a liking to her and keeps following her around! How will Tamako cope with this visitor intruding on her life?
It's by the same creators, but also has a little something different. Even though, in Tamako Market, the new, upbeat anime, has friends, main characture's crush, and even a talking bird. K-On deals more with friendship, music, and comedy.
they look alike, both have silly characters; not really a plot line. Very funny and cute! Mio and Tamako look a like alike; but Tamako acts like Yui! Though one is about a music group, the other is about a Market and a very strange bird. Both are still silly anime and I think of the other when I watch one. Definately recommend this is you've seen K-On!
Both are very similar looking, and although Tamako Market is about love whereas K-On! is about friends, they're both moe slice of life. If you liked the yummy food in K-On! you'll be happy to see that food is even more important in Tamako Market. They've got distinct differences in settings and casts that make them enjoyably refreshing and complementary to each other while keeping them similar enough at the core that fans of either will likely love the other one.
Both slice of life animes with the same style of drawing. They both have their funny moments and even though Tamako Market has only just started, I think they will both have a sweet ending. Great storyline, great characters, just amazing!! These animes (to me ) are amazing and are highly recommended!!
Both of these series were created by KyoAni, so they have quite a bit in common, namely the cutesy character designs and adorable personalities they all have, including their sometimes overwhelming positivity. Both series also have similar comedy and lack any real focused plot to speak of. As with every KyoAni production the animation is beautiful, but unlike K-On! and their other works Tamako market comes off a feeling a bit bland in comparison. That said fans of one should like the other.
If you like to watch adorable girls go about their lives and do what they are interested in with a passion, you should like both of these series. The cute factor is off the charts, though Tamako Market occasionally provides some more mature (not inappropriate, just older) themes and has some adult characters. Still, either is an enoyable watch that will make you smile and feel fuzzy and warm inside.
Both anime revolve around a group of cute girls, they both leave a light and happy impression on the watcher. Also the animation is very similar to each other.
I find both very enjoyable to watch.
Both of these anime are made by Kyoto Animation, so the art style is very very similar! Also, they are both slice of life anime with really cute characters and great character interaction! I watched Tamako Market before K-On! but I think they fit really well together if you like one or the other, no matter which you saw first!
If you liked the character designs of either anime, you're in for a treat with the other. Both have beautiful music, a lively bunch of girls going through their highschool years, and some comedy. With both being by KyoAni, you're in for some adorable fun with these two anime.
