The Legend Of The Dog Warriors: The Hakkenden

The Legend Of The Dog Warriors: The Hakkenden

The Awa clan is facing its extinction. The princess (Fuse) is wed to the family dog (Yatsufasa) when a promise is made for whoever kills the leader of the opposing clan will marry the princess. Yatsufasa is who accomplishes this. However, Yatsufasa and Fuse are killed, leaving the eight unborn pups to be reincarnated as the eight Dog Warriors: The Hakkenden.

Legend Of The Dog Warriors has great action and violence, as well as deep story, good plot and character development. The progression is very much the same as in Jin Roh. If you liked one of these anime, you would probably like the other.

Voices of a Distant Star

Voices of a Distant Star

Nagamine is a young high school student who lives a fairly typical teenage life: hanging out with friends, attending class, and falling in love with a wonderful boy. But when she enlists in the galactic army, who is desperate for candidates to fight an alien war, she finds herself drifting farther away from her first love, Noboru. In the depths of space, where a simple email takes eight years to be delivered, will their love truly flourish, or simply fade away?

Like Jin-Roh, Voices of a Distant Star is another great depressing story. However, it's not as violent and is not set in space, but it is still a very sad and brooding anime.
