Jin Roh is like a similar but darker version of Metropolis. They're both soaked in that sad atmosphere which also makes them so good.

Like Jin-Roh, Voices of a Distant Star is another great depressing story. However, it's not as violent and is not set in space, but it is still a very sad and brooding anime.

Could you ever fall in love with a killing machine? Both Saikano and Jin-Roh test ask that question and carry it out beautifully. From start to finish you will witness the development of the most tragic romance known to man. If you are in the mood for a slightly melancholy anime, I highly suggest you try these two out.

Legend Of The Dog Warriors has great action and violence, as well as deep story, good plot and character development. The progression is very much the same as in Jin Roh. If you liked one of these anime, you would probably like the other.

Another Oshii movie that explores in depth what it means to be human, and the difference that separates humans from their emotions, and what is involved in trying to separate from them. Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys philosophy and difficult questions of existence.
