Takeru and Takeshi are best friends, and rivals in their school's kendo club. But when a strange earthquake somehow transports them and their friends to a fantasy land filled with strange creatures and evil spirits, the two friends find themselves separated in a world on the brink of war. While Takeru decides to find his lost companions and fight to save the world, Takeshi sets off on a path to find a new purpose and gain recognition...even if that path that leads him away from his friends. The battle for the fate of the world approaches; will the friends ever be reunited?
Souma and his friends were typical high school students, and members of the student council; but things changed when a cat girl named Mao appeared in the school, looking for someone named Zero. Souma accidentally breaks Mao's mirror which causes her, Souma and his friends to be transported to her world. In this world, Souma and the other male humans from Earth can wield soulblades drawn from people's hearts. His friends landed in different parts of a war-torn world, so they have subsequently broken up into separate factions and each person is working towards winning the war. His friends have become each other's enemies, and it's up to Souma to be the one to create peace without choosing which friends should die.
if you like Izumo you must watch Shining Tears X Wind too. Top story is similar group of students send to another world to save it..good friends fighting each other for their belifes...some romance scense are included too ;)
Both of these anime feature high-school students beings transported to another world.
Good friends are seperated and pitted against one another in opposing sides of a war, each fighting for what they believe in.
Shining Tears X Wind is slightly darker, however, along with slight ecchi.
In these, a group of friends wind up in a fantasy world in the middle of a war. Unfortunately, some of the friends find themselves on opposing sides, and are forced to fight with one another. They either fight to live day by day in this dangerous world, for their own ideals/desires, or for the protection of others (such as new and old friends/love interests they acquire in this other world), but how the stories go about it are identical. I REALLY suggest watching the other if you liked one of the two.
While reading "The Universe of the Four Gods", best friends Miaka and Yui are mysteriously transported into a strange world full of magic and unfamiliar faces. As if their arrival was determined by fate, Miaka is revered as the Priestess of Suzaku, the savior of their warring country, who was destined to arrived in a flash of light, from a land far away. Betrayal, love, and heartache accompany this fantasy-filled tale of friendships torn apart, and hope that never fades.
If you liked Izumo, you'd like FY because the plots of these anime are similar. Fushigi Yugi is a must see, I mean it's a great romance/comedy anime with fighting, sorrow and a little bit of magic involved. If you were into that kind of thing in Izumo you absolutely MUST see this anime.

Friendship in the long run will never last. If you were compelled by the slowly-splitting relationship between Takeru and Takeshi in Izumo and are dying to see dynamic drama in your next anime, then X Movie won't disappoint. X takes a turn to the dark side and both friends must fight to the death to accomplish their goals. One is being deceived by dark forces and seeks destruction, while the other is a fated to prevent the apocalypse.
