Patlabor: The Mobile Police TV

Patlabor: The Mobile Police TV

"Labors" are large construction robots that are now being used to commit crimes. To meet the challenge, Special Vehicle (SV) units are established by the Tokyo PD. However, the Second SV unit is a total joke. Determined to change this, Izumi and Shinohara become pilots of the new Ingram 98 police labors, and are determined to change that reputation, with the help of the SV-2 gang of misfits.

While Tylor and Patlabor are vastly different in terms of setting, they are similar in that they're both about "Misfits/ Losers who Save the Day". Both shows have a lighthearted approach to storytelling, though Tylor is more outright comedic compared to Patlabor.

I guess it's all about the uniforms. In addition to the way being part of a military/police force forces a certain degree of conformity (yes, extant even with tylor's informal way of things), these both through a nice amount of comedy in. Both patlabour and tylor manage to advance the plot at a satisfying pace, while leaving room for frequent lighter installments.

Planetes

Planetes

In the year 2075, humanity has spread to the stars, along with their technology, colonies, and... waste? At such great speeds in orbit, even a tiny bolt can cause a tragic disaster. Enter the team of the half division. Their job? To gather the garbage and debris that circles the Earth, in order to keep space safe. From broken-down satellites to bolts and nails, there's nothing that the underpaid and underappreciated staff can't salvage. Join Hachimaki, Tanabe, Fee, and the rest of the gang as they risk their lives to keep space clean, and keep their wallets... empty.

While Captain Tylor definitely has more humor in it, both have a very similar feel... and a random, wacky bunch thrown together on a less than exciting assignment.
baley7

In both series there is the same space futuristic and wacky feel, even though the ICT is nowhere near close to the realism of Planetes in physics-wise. The behavior of the society and it's high ranks as a whole is realistic in both anime (milirary in ICT and Politicians in Planetes). If you liked one you will like the other as well.

Tytania

Tytania

Humanity has stretched its reach into space and has settled onto a number of planets. For the past several hundred years, though, most of man’s territory has been politically and militarily dominated by the Tytania clan. However, their grip of power begins to shake when an admiral from Euria, Fan Hulic, preposterously manages to win a battle against an armada commanded by a Tytanian duke. Now wanted by Tytania, Fan Hulic flees from one planet to another. His travels will lead him to many places and many people, all of whom finally have hope that the hated Tytania can finally be defeated.

Captain Tylor and Fan Hulic are very similar characters. They are chosen to fail, and surprising everyone they succeeded instead. The unexpected success causes both protagonists many troubles. They both appear to be morons, but both seem to have a mind for strategies. The supporting characters also like and follow the main goofs.

Both shows are about 2 men that are seemingly not so smart but get command anyway and kick ass. Tytania is pretty plot heavy at times where Tylor is more lighthearted and comedy based but if you enjoyed one adventuring galaxy man you should like the other.

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop

Follow interstellar bounty hunters Spike Spiegel and Jet Black as they scour the galaxy for criminals with prices on their heads. Hoping to escape their past, they live on the spaceship Bebop, but it's a dangerous business and old enemies don't forget easily. Allies come from unlikely sources, however, as they find comrades in the beautiful swindler Faye Valentine, the genius child hacker Ed and the genetically engineered 'data dog' Ein. Will they be able to help each other though their respective struggles, or is their fate really inevitable?

Dirty Pair

Dirty Pair

The WWWA, or 3WA as it is affectionately known, is dedicated to one thing: The prosperity and well being of all the peoples of the Galactic League. The Dirty Pair are Kei and Yuri, the 3WA's top crime division female operatives with a 100% clean-up rate. The problem lies in the extreme collateral damage they cause to people and property in the single minded pursuit of their duty; including, if absolutely necessary, the wholesale destruction of cities, continents and even planets! No-one is safe, whether it be criminals, rogue robots, crazed computers and more likely, innocent bystanders!

Theta

These two are old school sci-fi space comedies.  With high production values these were popular in their time and still hold up today.  Protagonists Kei and Tylor have many similarities despite a difference in gender.
