Can't say I liked either series, but both involve copious amounts of perverse ecchiness. Peeping toms, panty shots, and lots of innuendo can be found in each series. If you liked one, you'd surely like the other.

GreenTypeR GreenTypeR says...

Both series were a little on the perverted side. The plots have many similarities (female teachers only to female employees/residents only). There seemed to have been many hiatuses in Love Hina's plot, almost qualifying some of them to be labeled filler eps but there are few hiatuses in ecchi content. If you liked this, you'll probably enjoy Love Hina.

Lommi Lommi says...

Both I My Me and Love Hina little perverted side of anime world. Similarities are that both animes contain potty humor and embarrassing moments. If you like Perverted, comedic and little embarrassing animes you like this one..

Lothar Lothar says...

The similarities between I My Me and Love Hina are numerous. There's lost of ecchi, comedy and some romance. If you enjoy thoose kinds of shows, you'll like these series. Personally I like I My Me better, but with that I don't say that Love Mina is bad. Both series are worth atleast one watch.

Romantic series with a comedy touch & peeping toms. There are several simularities between these two animes!

Great Teacher Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka

With a history of leading a motorcycle gang and getting bad grades in school, why would 22 year old Onizuka ever want to become a teacher? Is it to educate young minds or spread the joy of education? Sure, if it involves being able to look up high school girls' skirts! Watch as this would-be educator uses his own life lessons and unconstituted methods as a means to control a delinquent class of students -- students who certainly aren't as happy to have him as a teacher as he is happy to be teaching...

Though this comparison only lasts about 6 episodes into Strawberry Eggs, those 6 episodes were so good that i've put it in here. Both are teachers, both are extremely good comedies. After that episode 6 Strawberry Eggs becomes more Shoujo though.

Kietrinia Kietrinia says...

Both "Strawberry Eggs" and Great Teacher Onizuka tell the story of a male teacher who has such a passion and desire to teach that they will go to any lengths to reach their students. Both series dive deeply into the realtionship between teacher and student, and are very touching stories about this kind of love. They both make me wish I had teachers like Hibiki and Onziuka when I was going to high school.

The passion, love, determination, and wisdom these two men show is really inspiring. If you're a fan of high school drama, comedy, and/or stories that really lift your heart, give Strawberry Eggs and GTO a go.

NinjaPirate101 NinjaPirate101 says...

If you liked GTO, or the other way around, you will like the other. Both have teachers, that will do anything for their students. Both teachers get into the lives of their students, learning all the way about everyone. They both have humor/comedy. And they both have an ending that makes you wanting for more.

JohnBeelick JohnBeelick says...

They both have a very similar feel and deal with many of the same topics. They revolve around a unique teacher and their students.

Gokusen

Gokusen

Is it is possible to lead the yakuza and be a high school teacher at the same time? Kuniko has always dreamed of being a teacher, but as the heir of the Oedo Group it isn't easy to do. Her task is made even more difficult because her school would fire her if they found out about her criminal activities. She has to pretend to be an ordinary teacher while fighting off rival yakuza, winning the respect of delinquent students and keeping her family business away from the school. This becomes even harder when her smartest and most curious student begins to find her very... "interesting".

SomeoneElse SomeoneElse says...

I My Me! Strawberry Eggs and Gokusen share a kinship on many levels, of course the most obvious being that the main protagonist in each is an aspiring teacher who has something to hide. From there the plots diverge quite a bit, but both make great use of the threat of being caught out in the great lie that makes it possible for the protagonist to continue on with their dream. With a similar sense of humor, both of these series are capable of creating a laugh as well as a moment of heartwarming satisfaction.

NinjaPirate101 NinjaPirate101 says...

If you liked Gokusen, or the other way around, you will like the other. Both have teachers, that will do anything for their students. They both get into Sensei/student relationships (not much romantic, as to like getting to know each one.) Both of the teachers have something very important to hide, and if they get caught it will hinder/destroy their teaching career. They both have tons of comedy, and take place in a school setting.

ofall ofall says...

They're both, as mentioned before, about teachers who are hiding thigs (that could very well get them fired), and they both contain teacher-student romance ( more subtle in Gokusen).  Another thing I found similar in both is that they are trying to change things for the better for the sake of their students. Hibiki is trying to make the school less strict about certain things and Kumiko is trying to get her students to learn and maybe straighten them out a bit. They both seem to genuinly care for their students.

Inu230 Inu230 says...

My teacher has a secret and I must discover what it is!

The vow made by a student (or students) may lead to their own undoing.

Both animes focus on a teacher who has something they don't want their students, fellow teachers, or principal to know. While their individual secrets are dissimilar they are important and potentially illegal. Should the truth come out more than the keeper would be in trouble. Thus both 13 episode animes are filled with classic comedic tension centered around who's gonna find out?

Additionally the teacher protagonist is willing to help their students inside and outside the classroom.

-

The tone for these animes are dissimilar and some may be turned off by the brass adult humor of Gokusen while some may be sickened by the sweet pre-teen humor of  Strawberry Eggs.

Watching both may give you appreciation for a similar idea taken in opposite ways.

Otoboku: Maidens Are Falling For Me!

Otoboku: Maidens Are Falling For Me!

There’s no denying that Mizuho is beautiful. Normally that might be a bit of a disadvantage seeing as he is an average sort of boy who enjoys sports and games. However, his beloved grandfather has just passed away, and the will includes a strange request; his grandfather wants him to become closer to his mother's memory by attending the same all-girls academy she did for a semester. Obviously he can't hide his gender from the teachers of the school; so he will need their approval, but he also can't expose his gender in front of his fellow students. With the help of his child-hood friend Mariya, his own natural beauty, and just a little bit of luck, Mariya may just be able to fool his fellow students! Considering the turn of events, there may be more to his grandfather's dying request than meets the eye...

abunai abunai says...

A man disguised as a woman, in an all-female school environment, with such skill that he appears to be not only female but also beautiful. Not a common anime plot, but still far from rare.

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru and I My Me! Strawberry Eggs both have male characters cross dressing in girls' schools, and the focus of all attention. The two stories take a slightly different tack on the consequences of such cross dressing, but the underlying humour and romance are similar.

tetra tetra says...

The main characters in I My Me and Otome wa are in the same predicament: while trying to fake being women they have to avoid detection, deal with admiring girls and they are both take place in a school environment. I think that the similarities end there and they diversify into individual anime that both are very enjoyable.

Both are school-anime with a genderbender twist!

bellatrix4574 bellatrix4574 says...

Light hearted gender bender. Cross dressing with a healthy dose of forbbiden love. Both are really short and sweet and definatly worth the effort! Neither have overly elaborate plots which may leave the viewer wanting but more than make-up for any short commings in the kawaii factor!

Both tackle gender role issues. Comically, but they do tackle them...

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Trying to be a woman isn't easy when you were born a man. Ranma and Hibiki each have to try and conceal their secrets if they wish to overcome their unique set of obstacles. Cute cross-dressing action on both sides, although ranma is prone to actually BECOME a girl. Certainly worth watching for a good laugh.

I can't put my finger on the connection here, but I can feel it. Maybe it's the atmosphere, or the "forbidden love" thing... I know that no anime have brought me closer to tears than these two. Well, Haibane Renmei sort of did, but in a different way.

If you enjoy high school drama with a twist then these shows are for you. Both of them have very emotionally driven plots, all kinds of zany characters, and something a little more... odd.

Green Green

Green Green

Deep in the mountains, isolated from civilization, there is a boys-only school that will finally be receiving its first class of girls in an attempt to transform the school into a co-ed one. Most of the boys have never been in contact with girls of their own age, leading to an explosion of hormonal craziness. From the sickeningly perverted fetishist guys, to a rather odd girl that seems to be chasing the most normal guy in the school for reasons known only to her, there's twisted humor to be had.

While I My me! Strawberry Eggs and Green green are very alike in some aspects, they are very different in others. Green green is one of the sickest animes ever created and will probably disturb many people, while I my me is a bit calmer (altough not so very much). They both have beutiful, funny and sad (and some very twisted) moments, and romance plays a big part in both.

FoxyTheFoxer FoxyTheFoxer says...

Male teacher crossdressing as a woman so he can teach his students, and an all boy's school combining with a school of girls. Honestly looking at it in that sense there is no relation with these two anime's. But these two anime's are so similar its crazy.

Both were made with only 2 years inbetween so you can expect the animation to be similar, but when you watch them both, it looks like they had the exact same artist's. The music was also extremely similar.

The most similar thing between the two anime's is the characters. The students in both anime's act and look so similar it is like they are in the same class.

Though the main storyline's are different, the feeling you get as you watch is the same. If you in anyway enjoyed one of these the next anime series you watch should be the other.

Azumanga Daioh

Azumanga Daioh

Ten-year-old genius Chiyo, animal-loving Sakaki, loudmouth Tomo, athletic Kagura, weight-conscious Yomi and dim-witted Osaka are six friends who share laughs, good times, and a high school homeroom. With scary (and sometimes perverted) teachers, school festivals, penguin suits and general hilarity abounding, you can be sure that there's never a dull day in the life of one of these students!

This one episode OVA really reminded of one ep in I My Me! Strawberry eggs. While both series are slice of life series, the plot and the characters are a whole lot different. Still both series had a same sort of atmosphere in them and both had some fanservice.
