This is a very similar series, set in the near future. The world is beset by horrible disease pollution, and crime is rampant in Tokyo. Only the Tank Police can stop the higher end criminals. Its a cop show with tanks and catgirls. Very similar. And who can't like Masamune Shirow?
NekoRocket
Both Hyper Police and Dominion Tank Police are set in a somewhat distant future in which ridiculously bizarre things happen. Both are very entertaining and funny.
TheBurningCrow
Another police force made up of "not-quite-human" crew, as well as interesting humor. The one thing that Dominian Tank Police still has though has tanks of course.
Drahken

Both of these shows are about the comedic adventures of a group of unique police, who often cause more damage than the suspects they persue.

Gunsmith Cats

Gunsmith Cats

Rally Vincent and Minnie May are twogirls with a lot of fire power. When they are not busy managing their gun store, they are working as bounty-hunter duo the Gunsmith Cats. Rally's incredible gunslinging skills and Minnie's obsession for big explosions make the GunSmith Cats a deadly force, and every task an adventure.

Another cop drama with two leading ladies. You'll like this one, promise. And who can't like Kosuke Fujishima?
Drahken

These are both about the wild antics of some female police officers, and the two shows feel a lot alike.

BushidoPizza

Both of these have a similar feel to one another with the mix of comedy and action that they provide. They also feature a strong female lead. They also take a lighter tone to the business of policework.

Tokyo Mew Mew

Tokyo Mew Mew

Momomiya Ichigo was a normal girl, worried mostly about her crush, Aoyama Masaya. However, just as she was finally able to date him, she was struck by a mysterious beam and everything changed. She is now part of the Mew Project, genetically fused with an endangered species of cat. With her new powers and companions, she must protect the earth from invading aliens.

AyameNatsuki

Both anime have bright and friendly cat girls. Natsuki from Hyper Police is a bounty hunter trying to make the world a better place by example and catching the bad guys, and the girls in Tokyo Mew Mew make the world a better place by fighting a source of evil. Although they are aimed at different age groups, both are a great watch.

BushidoPizza

Both Tokyo Mew Mew and Hyper police feature catgirls; that is not the full reason for this recommendation, however. Both have sci-fi elements included within, slight comedy, and action as well. Also, both protaganists are out to better the world in both series. One through the capturing of criminals; the other through combatting a dangerous organization.

Adventures of Kotetsu

Adventures of Kotetsu

Linn Suzuki made her way to Tokyo in search of her elder brother but found trouble instead. Lovely Detective Miho Kuon comes to Linn's aid as she is accosted by thugs, and thus begins their adventures together. Linn must endure geeky magicians, fierce tree spirits, and her 100-year-old master all while trying to stay clothed! Full of action and fanservice, Kotetsu is a debacle of martial arts mayhem.

If you like cute and petite girls kicking butt and using their sword skills, this is the one for you. Aside from a similar sense of humor and action, these shows both have a very nice "good old fashion" anime feel to them
