Drawn to the mystique of the unknown, Hunters travel the world in search of terrifying creatures, incredible riches, and unexplored lands. Gon Freecss is a naive-yet-determined young boy who aspires to join the ranks of these individuals, in order to find his missing father Ging - a master of the profession himself. To reach his goal, he partakes in the formidable Hunter Exam, a series of tests that push the participants to their physical and mental limits, with a Hunter License as the prize. During the exam Gon befriends vengeful Kurapika, doctor-to-be Leorio, and skilled assassin Killua, who have entered for their own reasons. But with the sinister Hisoka standing in their way, will Gon and his friends be able to succeed in obtaining their reward, or even escaping with their lives?
Goro Honda is a little boy who is obsessed with baseball. As a child, he watches his father, a professional baseball player, be removed from the Blue Oceans’ main team due to a shoulder injury that left him unable to pitch again. However, since his son looks up to him more than anyone else in the world of baseball, Goro's father decides that he can't quit just yet (as pitching is not the only way to be able to play baseball!). With his father's shining example, Goro decides to never give up as well, working his way into the Japanese Little League as a force to be reckoned with!
Honda Goro and Gon Freaks are similar characters; both have a very positive attitude and are determined to reach their goals. Seeing as how each of these characters are a central element to their show, liking one of these anime suggests you'd like the other.
They are also both coming of age stories that have an upbeat mood, but also have intense moments.
These two shows star an upbeat and ambitious boy that trains hard to meet his goals. Though the two characters have one major difference: Gon displays a maturity beyond his years and teaches others things whereas Goro acts more his age and learns more from those around him. Despite that, the similaries in theme make the shows an obvious recommendation for each other.
Ginta would much rather dream of fantasy worlds than do his homework; but when he dreams of the same place 102 times, he knows something is amiss. The 103rd time, his dream becomes a reality when he is whisked away to the enchanted lands of MAR Heaven, a place where magic and monsters really do exist, and the world is being torn apart by an evil queen. Now, before he can find his way home, Ginta must take on the queen with the help of newfound friends Babbo, Jack, Alan and Snow. Together, they could be MAR’s best chance of liberation from the hands of evil!
Both anime have a similar feel to it. The young heros embark on advantures, where they make friends and fight together against their enemies. The biggest difference between these two is the fact that in HunterXHunter, Gon lives in the world he explores and for the most part he uses his own life energy as a weapon or reinforcement. In Mar, Ginta is transported to another world, where he learns to use weapons called Ärm.
I think hunter x hunter and MAR are similar because both character in the anime go to a different world. And with hunter x hunter greed island when both kiluha and gon train they gain magical powers and become stronger, and thats the same thing with MAR, the main character is training to gain magical powers to defeat the chess pieces. Not only thin but both are funny especally MAR, the male protngist is easy going and fun to be around, he changes the people aroung him just like gon did to kiluha. there is also a person like kiluha in MAR. In both anime when they enter the world they gain new nakama and they gain powers and strength. Either way when you watch MAR which is awesome you remember hunter x hunter. you should watch hunter x hunter first before MAR and you will understand :)
In the revolutionary Meiji period, Japan is undergoing enormous political change. It is a time when vagabonds and terrorists will use any method to prevent the modernization of their country, even if it means trampling on the innocent in the process. In such a time, Himura Kenshin, a wandering samurai, has dedicated his life to protecting the weak and desperate peasants from those who would oppress them. However, Kenshin has a dark past which threatens to destroy the values he is fighting for. When he meets his new friends Kaoru, Sanosuke, and Yahiko, and tries to build a peaceful life with them, events conspire against him. Can Kenshin overcome the demons within and without, and finally ensure the peaceful future that Japan deserves?
Kenshin is probably one of the greatest anime series of all time, and I don't know too many people who don't like it so you should watch it. And, needless to say, the plot and character development are very well thought-out and the animation is wonderful. If you liked Hunter X Hunter, you will definitely like Rurouni Kenshin!
Teito Klein is a former slave who attends the Barsburg Empire's military academy. Having no memory of his past and the power to wield a rare ability called Zaiphon, Teito is constantly under the scrutiny of his peers - except for his best friend Mikage, the only person he connects with. After seeing and remembering the man who killed his father, Teito tries to kill him and finds himself on the run from Barsburg's military might. Now, with the evil beings known as Kor after his soul, the Barsburg Empire after his blood and only the legendary Seven Ghosts to protect him, Teito must unlock the memories of his past before he ends up as a sacrifice for Verloren, the sealed God of Death.
I know they don't seem very similar, but I couldn't help but feel the love between in the male characters in both series seem similar, where it almost seem shounen ai, if you like that part of the anime than check out the other....
What if roller skates had high power engines that enabled the skaters to do stunning new tricks that defy gravity? What if you saw a beautiful girl effortlessly glide through the air with them? To Ikki, this is reason enough to secretly borrow a pair of Air Treck skates, and step into an underground world filled with gang fights and strange customs. Enamored with high-flying stunts and the flirtatious Simca, Ikki forms an Air Treck gang of his own and starts a life of fighting rival gangs and flying over the rooftops, chasing the girl always one kick ahead of him.
Hunter x Hunter and Air Gear feature an energetic male character that goes beyond everyone's expectations. I found that a lot of characters look similar to each other, and both titles possess a sense of adventure. I personally think Hunter x Hunter is infinitely better, but I enjoyed the battle sequences in Air Gear.
