Drawn to the mystique of the unknown, Hunters travel the world in search of terrifying creatures, incredible riches, and unexplored lands. During the exam Gon befriends vengeful Kurapika, doctor-to-be Leorio, and skilled assassin Killua, who have entered for their own reasons. Now an inmate at the privately-owned prison and ‘amusement park' known as Deadman Wonderland, Ganta must try to survive in a place where inmates are the main attraction in brutal gladiator-style games. Great series on both parts.  Great fight scenes, blood, and the animation is pretty clean.  Though HxH is on the lighter side with comedic timing, and Deadman Wonderland being much more serious in nature, they both are well worth the time watching.

Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail

Lucy is a seventeen-year-old mage with the power to summon stellar spirits, but what she really wants to do is join a guild - and not just any guild. She has her eyes set on Fairy Tail, a notoriously reckless and outrageous group of magic users who are likely to be drunk or destroying buildings and towns in the process of completing a job! While in town one day Lucy meets a perpetually-seasick boy named Natsu who, through a series of events, reveals to her that he's none other than the fire-eating mage Salamander of Fairy Tail! Lucy is finally able to join Fairy Tail and quickly begins to take on odd jobs with Natsu and his gang for fame and profit. Along with her fiery friend, Happy the flying cat, Natsu's archrival Gray and their overseer the invincible and beautiful Erza, Lucy sets forth for epic adventures that leave an epic amount of destruction in their wake. After all, destroying a city or five doesn't matter as long as they get the job done... right?!

If you've watched either you should watch the other as they're both very decent shonen animes!

Both are great shounen animes, although they branch off different story types.

They are both based off everyone in the same power tree that branches off for specialties, this means its generally easy to understand what is going on when new characters are introduced.

Both "Hunter x Hunter" and "Pokemon" are about a fun-loving, good-hearted young man that sets out on a great adventure in search for action and the solution to a noble cause.  Along the way, both Ash (Pokemon) and Gon (Hunter x Hunter) make great friends that help teach us morals & lessons as they destroy the bad guys.  Both anime are full of action, adventure, and humor with lots of characters and creatures to learn about.

If you enjoy one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.

Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online

The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - that is, if their HP doesn't drop to zero first, for death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can – some forming guilds, others ruthlessly leaving their peers behind, and many tragically falling by the wayside or to the merciless monsters populating the lands...

If you loved the premise of the Greed Island arc in Hunter x Hunter, then you may want to check out Sword Art Online. I don't want to go into details of Greed Island and thus spoil it for someone, but I couldn't help but think of it as I watched the first 14 eps of SAO. Sure, SAO has some big differences, including a couple slightly more mature scenes and a definite romance. But it's worth a try if Greed Island interested you as much as it did me.
